http://www.stuff.co.nz/4416651a10.html - Parents warned of paedophile
I thought that it was interesting that the rehab people are saying that the notices weren't helpful for him integrating back into society- even so, surely the priority has to be childrens safety?

Castrated, lynched, throw away the darn key. One of the comments was 'everyone should be given a second chance'- what about his victims? They won't have a second chance, you can't give innocence back- they'll be paying dearly for the rest of their lives. I think at the very LEAST the public should be warned about the danger- especially as he obviously plans to continue this behaviour
It just seems like everyone is so busy protecting the criminals and not protecting the victims and everyone else. There was a blimmin criminal that got a payout because he got hurt while he was COMMITTING A CRIME. Fricken madness.
Lol- sorry for the rant

I think the rehab people are a bit out of line here - the notices sent to parents didn't name the offender or include details of a description, they only alerted them to be more mindful of who was hanging around the schools and allowed them to take steps to increase their safety practices with their children, as is every parent's right. I definitely wouldn't say the notices were 'unneccesarily scaring the parents' as the rehab person suggested.
The safety of my child comes before helping a convicted offender to rehabilitate from his illness, especially when he's not showing any sign of wanting to be rehabilitated himself!

The problem is that criminals in NZ have more rights than their victims and other innocents.
Good on police and schools for doing something.
p.s. I think Convicted criminals should lose all rights by default I get so angry when I hear about criminals getting ACC money or suing the govt or whatever - bring back chain gangs so these people can really repay their debt to society rather than sitting on their rears in a cushy prison cell with three cooked meals a day.

I don't think a paedophile deserves any sympathy whatsoever so for me childrens safety def comes first. Grrr at the stupid laws and privacy rights - if they can put the most innocent in society in danger, they deserve nothing
