so its not PND but its OCD after bubs so its sorta related....anted to know if anyone has had anything to do with MMH or similar in chch...i asked doc about getting some more counselling or similar..as the one he put me onto is 130$ and we dont have that money,..and she was so good and effective last time...i think i just need a little bit of help but we don't have that money...anyway i said that i heard (as my counsellor had said that waiting list very long(up to 9 months ) for MMH and the doc agreed so when i go back in two weeks he's going to see what options he has come up with..ummmm right....so really..it takes that long in chch to be referred to MMH?

it took so much guts to talk to him about it and now i feel like it didn't get me anywhere:(

Hang in there, I have no set answer as to what's happening with me either. They think it could be delayed grief affecting me from the M/C, or that it's possible i got PND again even though i didn't give birth and that the M/C stuffed my hormones. It could be anxiety issues related to ocd, or just plain depression. soooo helpful. Hope your doc has sorted out some counselling options for you that won't cost the earth.

Hang in there foxy one, I had a one year wait for the anxiety and mental disorders clinic here in CHCH and it was a long wait but so worth it.

For the first time in what feels like years and years, I feel as normal as my genes will allow me to be. And although there is still some worry etc there, I have learnt how to question my thinking and am able to change those thoughts and now probably only worry the same as any parent. I am still on medication and will be for a while but a small price to pay.

Ask for a referral and they will send you a letter to let you know how long the wait is. During that time they should also give you a number to ring in case you need support and just keep your GP up to date as they can change the urgency of your referral if you have a really bad patch.

Also there is an OCD support group here in CHCH, I can hunt out the details for you if you like, they are really helpful.

I also developed OCD after baby(ies) - actually that's not entirely true, I probably always had it but it flared up big time after having the gremlins. I've been lucky tho, MMH here don't seem to have such a huge waiting list and I am having my third CBT session tomorrow.
I also found medication helped, which surprised me coz I always thought of OCD as a behavioural thing and I didn't get how meds could fix that, but they really did, when I was on the meds I spent a lot less time ritualising and obsessing over things.
Good luck with your doc, hope they come up with something that doesn't cost the earth. Oh and the OCD support group Nuttymama mentioned sounds worth a look.

I can definately understand that I did that when we decided to try for Abby and it really messed my system up, hence no more kiddies for us.

Have pm'd you the details.

The medication worked but because I didn't do any therapy before I came off it I bombed once i had Abby and it hit hard. after several trails I am now really settled on the medication I am on. But I guess not good for if if you are trying again soon. I was really skeptical about CBT but I can't stop raving about it enough now.
