So, if I take Ethan to the gp wanting allergy tests, do I then have to go on a waiting list or something to see a specialist..or do I have to see my gp a certain amount of times before they will refer me???

I really have no idea about this...

(here is a quick run down on my situation)

About 4 or 5 months ago Ethan got terrible diarrhoea (sp??) lasted about 3 weeks and not just the runs, anything he ate came out totally undigested and looking the same as it went it. Seemed to fix it by switching to lactose free milk..recently we have been having the same prob. Last few times didn't go to dr as they didn't do anything previoiusly, but here we are up to about round four of a week plus, of undigested food coming out. It is also really acidid as his bum is burnt, he can't walk properly or sit at the moment so bad. So I want to find out the cause, and there have been no changes in diet at all......

Hmmmm that's a tough one.
To answer your question, yes your GP can organise skin prick/RAST testing, he or she just gives you the form and you go to Diagnostic and have them done.
BUT it sounds like what Ethan has is more an intolerance than an allergy and they are almost impossible to test for. The only way to test for it would be to take all milk out of his diet and see if the symptoms improve. If they do, it's pretty obvious that it is an intolerance, altho you could try reintroducing it and see if it flares up again just to be extra sure. If the symptoms don't improve, it's probably not the milk thats causing them.
Hope this helps.

I had a similar prob with my daughter but she wasn't able to poo. so I kept pushing the doctor do do something about it. Eventully they gave me some forms to take to a place like medlab for her to have blood test an allergy tests done an even sent her for a scan to make sure nothing was going on inside. It took me almost 3 years to find out what my daughter had that was causing the prob, so dont give up just keep at the doctor for something to be done
