Aww sad one, I thought it would be best to get in early with trying to find a midwife seeing as they are apparently in short supply in Wellington. So I just rang one place, and told the lady who answered the phone that my EDD is 15th March, and she said she'd get a midwife to call me back. Well I was in the post office when someone called back so couldn't answer it, and she left a message and said "you're not even pregnant if you're due on the 15th of March. Try calling back when you are pregnant" how rude!! now I feel stink! (fertility friend told me that based on when I ovulated my EDD is 15th March, hmmph!)

Guess I'll wait till next week to find a midwife (won't be ringing back that place tho, they make me feel stupid)

I'd ring them back... I contacted mine at around 4 weeks, and that's not that far away. She was pleased I got in early, as with the shortage in midwives atm, she's forever having to turn people down and feels a bit stink about it. (has enough in those months already)

Well my Dr appointment got all mixed up (receptionist booked it for last month?) so I didn't get to see the Dr. Saw the nurse instead but all she did was confirm I was pregnant. Wasn't given time to ask questions or anything but told to get a midwife and they would help me out with everything.

Only good news is that she said it was a good sign that the pregnancy test she did came up straight away and very strong. Also all my symptons are an encouraging sign. Who knew it was good to have this much nausea!

It is hard to believe its real and that everything will be okay but we really have to believe it is (otherwise we'll all go crazy!). I'm thinking lots of positive thoughts for us all!

This weekend will be a challenge. The first one where we are aware we're preggy and can't let anyone else know. My friends are so suspicious too!

Hehe good luck queenbean with your party and coming up with an excuse to not drink! You could always use the good old "I'm on antibiotics" one, I used that a few times while TTC (or the "I have to drive" one, but if it's at your house you probably won't get away with that!)

You're right, it is hard to believe it's real and that that extra line on the pregnancy test is going to turn into an actual person but we do have to believe it, I don't want to spend the whole time being worried. My AF isn't even due till Sunday so if that day passes and nothing happens, then maybe I'll start to relax a bit more (that's the plan, anyway)

Wow, congrats March mummies.  I hope you all have happy healthy pregnancies.

Rachel, since you're in Wgtn, I recommend Domino midwives (based in Newtown) they are fabulous.  They have a strong natural birth focus and my midwife was fabulous.  I still catch up with her (not often enough though... I'm so slack).

Anyway... all the best to all of you.

My first baby is due on 5th March 2009! I have only just had it confirmed at the doctor's, and hoping to get a midwife shortly. Anyone else here from Dunedin?

Congrats Margs, mayday and whitewave!! March is looking like a busy month already!!

Margs: So glad your IVF went so well, really happy for you!!!!

mayday: When is your due date?

whitewave: I'm not from Dunedin but my DH is, not sure if any of the other ladies are.

Thanks for the tips on the 30th party, however, I don't think I would get away with the sober driver excuse. My friends would not allow that!!! I have arranged with the bar to supply me with sparkling grape juice and elaborate looking "mocktails" so hopefully that'll work!!!

How is everyone feeling today?? Ive just been getting AF type cramps again. AF would have been due today so that could be why. Also still feeling really tired which I hope passes soon.

Is anyone going to be taking omega3 tablets?? I dont eat fish so I need to start taking them.

Rianna,

The cramping is more likely your uterus starting to stretch (already!!!), its perfectly normal chicky. Its so exciting feeling your body change in prep for the bubs (mind, I think I complained about it a bit).

Enjoy every minute of lovley.

Congrats to all the March Mummies, may you all have a healthy 8 months!

i'm feeling prety good, don't feel preg yet. i hav a nasty taste tho so sucking on some lollies to keep it away. i eat fish like 1-2 times a week (fresh not fish and chip fish lol) so won't be needing the omega3 i think.
I hope the AF type cramps settle for u Rianna, the first trimester is scary aye evry little niggle or spot of blood u tend to think the worst in my opinion anyway.
I will be ringing my LMC tomorrow so i guess will get a blood form to pick up this week as well. having the bloods done makes it more real

Oh I don't eat fish either, except for tuna casseroles once in a while. Maybe I should get some omega3 things too...

Hehe thanks Mel. Ive been reading the FF Pregnancy and its really cool. I love how it tells you what baby is doing each week as well as Mum

Your ticker says 4 weeks 1 day now, same as mine
It's hard to explain, but coz I didn't ovulate till day 23 of my cycle, it makes my due date later. If I'd ov'd on day 14 like you're meant to, my due date would be like the 6th or something! So I have to pretend my last AF started on June 8th instead of May 31st or it will look like I'm further on than I actually am! (and that's why I thought you were due on the 14th coz you ov'd a day before me according to your chart.)

Ahh I'm not very good at explaining things hehe. Hope you know what I'm talking about

Welcome to OB lilmisspink, you will be an old hand at this 4th time round!!

Hope everyone is feeling OK, I have started to feel a little nauseous already but appetite hasn't been affected yet!!

Had my 30th on Saturday, and the fake drinking went well except for one guy who kept trying to drag me up to the bar all night for shots! Luckily I was able to fend him off!

Great that your party went well queenbean! And that no one suspected anything hehehe.
We managed to see both sets of my parents without spilling the beans. When we see DH's parents it will be interesting seeing as his dad asks me every time I see him if I have any good news for him yet! Will have to come up with something that isn't an outright "no" (people can always tell when I'm lying) but doesn't give it away. We don't even want to tell our parents till we've seen a heartbeat on a scan!! (touch wood)

Just been and had my first blood test, will have the 2nd one on Wednesday. I wonder if I can ring up for the results later or if I have to wait till my doc is in on Thursday to find out... Geez I'm impatient!

Hope everyone is doing well

lilmisspink we are due date buddies too.

Don't worry too much about the AF like cramps girls it is normal. Its all the muscles stretching and the the embryo planting its self in the uterine wall.

We told both sets of parents but told them not to mention anything to the siblings yet.

Rachel are you having a MW or OB?? What part of Wellington are you??

Hey Margs, I live in Newlands and work in CBD. I'm not sure about MW or OB yet. I rang one MW place last week and got told I'm not pregnant if I'm due on March 15th and to ring back when I am pregnant so won't be going there! I was talking to my mum a while ago and told her I'd probably find a midwife once I get pregnant, and she said that if I went with an OB she would pay for it. So I'm thinking about it... I'm guessing you have an OB with having IVF?

What about everyone, are you going for a MW or OB?

Hi Mayday, I'm kinda excited hehe. Trying not to get too carried away like last time, but it's still fun thinking that there's a wee person growing inside you eh

Looks like I'm in here - we are rather unexpectedly pregnant! Apparantly due 4th March. The shock is wearing off I think, although DH still looks a little like a stunned mullet .

Currently overseas, will be back in AKL in August, so will have to contact a MW from over here to make sure we get one.

Still panicking a little...

Congrats Cathrine!! I'm sure you'll be able to organise a midwife fine from overseas!

I'll definitely be having a midwife and an OB. I'm going to have the same midwife as last time as she knows my history and she's lovely. Will be getting 4-weekly scans from 8 weeks onwards through the OB.

We have decided to tell our families this weekend, waaaaay earlier than last time when we told them at about 12-13 weeks, after all the scans were "fine" and we thought everything was good. I figure there's no point in waiting so long this time as we'll probably need the emotional support early.

Oh rachel how awful was that women.

None of the doctors at Wgtn FA delivery anymore and I live up the Kapiti Coast. There are a lovely bunch of MW up there who have space in March. So I will probably have one of them and mybe get a OB as well.

Does anyone know what a OB is worth?? I hear its not cheap???

I think it's in the region of $1500 - $3000 for an OB (last time I looked which was in Feb).

Congrats Cathrine! Wow we have a nice big list going already!

Well better start making dinner

Evening ladies

Congratulations Catherine. Hope you have a H&H pg.

Rach yep I know exactly what you mean re ov and your date. My date has worked out by my LMP which was the 9 June. I have a 27 day cycle not 28, so thats why Im the 15 March too. Otherwise if I had a normal 28 day cycle I'd be the 16th. DOes that make any sense?? Isnt it weird how they work out the dates.

I had my first bloods done today. I will have the results tomorrow afternoon and I can just ring up which is great.

I will be going under my GP here in Aus. You dont get assigned a MW for your entire pg so I'll just be seeing my GP. Unfortunately our health insurance doesnt cover an OB in pregnancy. Ive asked my sister to speak with her ex MW to see if I can see her when we get back to NZ in January.

Queenbean pleased you had a great birthday

*lurker in*

Rianna, all of my GP's in Aus specialised in obstretics so I didnt have to pay extra... look around and see if you can find one near you thats taking on new patients.

You could be really cheeky and "pretend" you dont know yet You will be suprised how many GP's are trained (not in the medical centres with after hours, a normal 8-6 type Surgery).

Ooh I hope we can eat tomato sauce coz I have!

I rang up Aotea Pathology this morning for my blood test results, and they said they can't give them to me coz I didn't sign a copy to patient form (oops, didn't know there was one!) So I rang my doctor's office and as I said "results from my blood test" my workmate came out of her office hehe. Lucky I didn't say "hcg bloodtest" coz she's a nurse and she'd know what that means! Anyway, they hadn't recieved my results yet so I have to ring back later

Awesome to see so many babies due in March already!

I had really bad cramping when AF was due but it turned out to be nothing. It lasted a few days too - very hard on your nerves!

If having symptons is a good sign, then I'm doing well. Am nauseous, tired and have really sore boobs. Luckily no actual throwing up yet! Still, if these things went away then I'd be worried

I haven't had any bloods done yet. Thought it would be good to have my midwife first. Seems to be a mission though as many seem to go on holiday in February/March! My best option is on holiday in Feb until about 1 March (locum cover while she's away). She seems really nice but will wait until I hear back from a few others first. It will be a day of waiting for the phone to ring!

Yey for the hCG results Rachel, sounds all good. I think my GP will want me to get one more lot done next week too, but my last one was also kinda high, 397 @13 DPO. I definitely don't get that twin feeling though, hehe.

Hi Everyone, I am finally brave enough to post.  Having been following you all for a while.

I am going to be either a late Feb or early March mummy.  My due date is 1st March as of my scan today.  Have been hesitant to post as I had a mc in may.  But hopefully this little one will stick - saw the heartbeat today which is so relieving.

So my details - I have a 11 month old DD so this is my 2nd pg.  Very surprised to get pg so easy as last time it took 2 yrs and fertility drugs.  We are currently living in the Manawatu but will probably (fingers crossed) move to Chch before the baby is born, just waiting for things to fall into place.

Currently my last MW is going to look after me, which is fab as she is sooo cool.  Am having quesy feelings, sore back occassionally and tender boobs every now and then but nothing major.  Fingers crossed it will be like my last pg which was very good in the first 2 trimesters, just hoping I do not get pre-eclampsia like I did last time as I swelled up like a balloon and my blood pressure went through the roof (193/110 - argah!!!).

ok enough of a book from me - look forward to chatting

Welcome catcase! Congrats on being preg again! I know what you mean about being nervous... I also had a m/c (in March). So cool you got to see a heart beat today! Maybe I'll get to see one in another couple of weeks
What about you others, is anyone going to get an early scan? Are you automatically eligible to get one if you've lost a baby before? Guess I'll have to get an LMC and find out!

Hey Queenbean, muy due date is supposed to be either the 1st or the 2nd of March.

Ive got a mid-wife now which is cool, i havent met up with her yet but shes just had a baby herself so shes just getting back into the swing of things with just a few mummies.

i had my 1st scan last week tto see if it was an eptopic beccause i had a lot of sore cramps and they lasted nearly two weeks...... thats how i found out i was preggy, anyway they couldnt see anyting so i have to go back on thursday which is exciting.

i have wickedly sore boobs and sore body when i wake up, i dont usually get up at all during the night but lately its been like 3 or 4 times a night, i work at a family restaurant with lots of food man alive is it making me feel queezy, havnt been sick but deffinatly feel like it.

Have any of u bought wee clothes in the winter specials yet? man there are some good buys outs there.

anyways have a good day and ill get back to you all later

I've just changed you to the 2nd mayday, is that OK? Your ticker looks like it is is a few days out?

Congrats catcase, glad you got to see the wee heartbeat today, must be reassuring for you!

Rachel, your midwife can request an early scan for you, I'd just ask her. I don't think it's be a problem especially having had an early miscarriage.

I will get scans from 8 weeks onwards, but I'm not that keen on it really. We had early scans last time and they were too early to show up any problems, so I don't really see the point for us getting them early this time. Oh well, will do what I'm told
