My baby has been fully formula fed for about 3 weeks now. She transitioned from bfeeding to formula over a month. She's not a big drinker, only having 2-3 bottles per day.

For the past week she's started having really foul smelling explosive nappies (about twice daily), quite diarrhea like. They completely overflow her nappy and we usually have to bath her afterwards. Her tummy has been quite bloated as well. I'm wondering if she has an intolerance to the milk in her formula (on Heinz Nurture). Both my DH and I have get upset tummy's if we have too much dairy.

Any thoughts/suggestions would be appreciated! Will book her in to see her GP tomorrow for a checkup.

You can buy lactose free formulas so I would give that a try to start with.
As far as I am aware explosive poos/vomiting are normally because of lactose intolerance which is caused by a deficiency in the enzyme needed to break down the lactose and a diary allergy normally provokes a skin reaction, constipation and in severe cases breathing problems and is caused by the immune system attacking the protein in diary.

Hope that helps a little.

i think my daughter has a dairy allergy to the protein found in formula after trying every formula in the supermarket then soy and goats i tried neocate and i have a new baby, sleeping normal poos (neocate makes them black) no wheeze or runny nose,, because neocate is expensive u should see a speaclist to see if its right for her

Thanks for the tips. We've discovered that Eva is lactose intolerant. We've swapped her to lactose-free formula and she is back to normal! We've been told to keep her off dairy until 12 months, then gradually introduce it.
