Hey ladies, just a quick question here.
Ayja has always been unable to have fish or fish products of any kind, It goes straight through her in a serious way. We have sworn off it all together since putting two and two together. Of course mistakenly she had some fish fingers at daycare yesterday and has hardly left the toilet this morning (TMI sorry). If this something she might grow out of or is it likely to continue. Also if she's like this with plain fish, would it be more serious if she had the more full-on kinda seafood? Just wanting to know if anyone else has this with their kiddies and what i can expect. ------------- Janine and her 2 cool chicks, Paris & Ayja

No experience with fish in kids but my OH is allergic to all fish as well as seafoods. All I know it is more common for children to develop fish or/and seafoods allergy much later than toddler & babies like my OH developed his when he was 9 or 10 years old. You can be ok with one group of fish but not ok with other group of fish, there are two types. In rare cases, like my OH, can react to both of them. I was warned by allergy specialist in UK that my children (apart baby) who is currently tested negative for fish/seafoods allergy may develop later like my OH, so it is case of waiting for it happen or not. I am not sure on seafoods intolerance.

It could go either way couldn't it. I think you can get testing done for it, so if you can I would get it done. ------------- I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived! |

I know seafood/fish is one of the most common food intolerances. Up there with dairy, eggs and peanuts.

Thanks ladies - that's what i was thinking. I do think i need to get some tests done for her due to her getting a rash around her mouth if she has too much tomato sauce, she gets bloaty with lots of bread/pasta/weetbix etc. I think the poor chicky has inherited my intolerances. - and well, paris just got the asthma instead.
