Hi Natalie! Thanks! Hope you and Ethan are good!

An orchidopexy is basically an operation to fix undescended retractile testes. They are too high up and need to be pulled down.

Apparently it is relatively quick and "painless' but I haven't been able to track down anyone whose son has had one to find out first hand!

My poor baby!

A male very close to me (who would KILL me for saying even this!) had it done when he was a boy- he doesn't even remember it or anything about it (he was 5 at the time) so it can't of been that traumatic!

Thanks Vanessa and Jen! I did need to know that it will be ok!!

The thing that I am most worried about at the moment is the actual surgery. I hate the thought of a GA (and the waking up from a GA which I hated) but most of all I am wondering how I am supposed to explain it to Quinn?

How do I explain it to him?

Hmmm, that's a tough one. Maya had a GA when she was 2 1/2 and she was fine, the anaesthatist explained everything on her level and she wasn't scared or anything but she was a lot younger than Quinn, I imagine he will be a lot more aware of what's going on. When we were kids we used to have a book about a kid that went to hospital to have an operation (my brother was in and out of hospital a lot) which explained everything at an age appropriate level, maybe your local library would have something similar?

Best of luck, let me know if you need anything, I am the hospital queen after all!
