Oh that is just horrible. Who the hell got her pregnant, bad enough that she is 12 but with a mental age of 6 as well. I hope they find him and lock him up. -------------

this hits home, my sister is 22 with the mental age of a 6 year old.
Poor baby or not if my sister got pregnant (from someone clearly taking advantage of her ) i would hope the courts would rule for an abortion , because i know who would take care of the baby -my parents, who have already got a permanent baby in my sister, they will never be able to experience having an offspring free house ...i dont want them having to raise another child in their old age too. The whole thing is disgusting and sad -------------

With the intellectual age of a 6yr old, i'd also say it was the best thing to terminate. I can't even begin to imagine how the poor girl would cope with being pregnant.. but then also, how would she cope with the abortion? I don't know anything about abortion methods or anything though but at 18wks gestation...

six years old....God , would she have even been aware what was happening ? i mean ...surely he could get charged with SOMETHING for that right?
If you have sex with a 6 year old , its rape, ..wouldnt it be similar if they were 6 in the mind, even if not in the body ? -------------

But at 12 it's still not legal to have sex...
So either way the guy is in the wrong. DH and I had a huge discussion about it yesterday (luckily we were both on the same side of the fence) - it left me feeling very confused and sad. My cousin (who subsequently died at the hands of her partner) had two kids by the age of 14. He's in prison, she's dead and the two kids have no idea -------------

So sad, I feel awful for all involved that they ever found themselves in that situation.
But, how do you know that the father wasn't also a young person with the mind of a 6 year old?? I can't see anything in that article to indicate that she was definitely taken advantage of by someone that's not handicapped in some way themselves. ------------- http://lilypie.com">

I was thinking the same thing Aprilfools. At my last job I had a selected few young girls from an IHC home who came in for the depo. Their family had consented. These girls were under 16years old with varying degrees of cognitive development. They were given the depo as contraception as they had been very promisicious (with other male residents) and also because they just couldnt cope with periods. They would play in it and have it everywhere. They just didnt understand. Very very sad about the 12year old and her bubba

Yep Kels it can be pretty tough going dealing with someone who doesn't understand what AF is all about. I used to care for intellectually, physically and mentally disabled people and unfortunately these things can happen. Just because people are disabled doesn't mean they won't experiment sexually.

ha tough going?thats an understatement, living with one isnt much fun either. Perhaps the father was also special needs, which is just as sad, and yes ,your right we dont know all the facts. I get quite upset at stuff like this, because it reminds me how easily things can happen, and how easily it could happen to my sister , last thing our family needs . Come to think of it , disgusting isnt the right word, terrifying is . -------------

One of my teachers daughter had the mental capacity of a wee child. I remember them fighting to have the right to have hysterectomy done. They didnt win, it was against her human rights... but she cant ever look after herself how can she possibly look after a child? The rights of the unborn child need to be taken into account too. That was before depo though.... -------------

I went to school with a couple of girls, they were 13 and 16 with the minds of 4 or 5 year olds. They were very sweet and very nieve(sp?). The man that lived next door to them used to invite the girls over and they would hang out with him, the girls mother knew the man and trusted him. At school they started to talk to me about how they would have sex and that the man got them to perform oral sex on him etc I was disgusted, I was only 13 myself. So I told my mum, and she talked to the girls mother. He had been sexual abusing them for months, he would tell them they were going to his "Special Place" and stuff like that. He got arrested and admitted to it. What a sick B#$$%!!@! The girls had NO idea that they were doing anything inapropriate, they just...did what he said, and it makes me so sad. He took advantage of them in the worst way possible. ------------- |
