I'm ready to pull my hair out. Keira has only just got the hang of going toilet, it has taken her forever and I'm still having to temind her. I still dont trust her to go to Kindy on her own in undies. Anyway, the last week she has decided not to go on the toilet anymore. Yesterday she wee'd through 5 pairs of pants, today we are already on pants number3. I am so sick of cleaning up puddles and changing her clothes, and as soon as I have cleaned up one mess she goes again (at least last time I hadn't even put new pants on her for her to wet I am not putting her in pull-up or anything, she just has to learn. It just doesnt seem to be getting through to her that shes doing anything wrong. I have tried giving her a star chart but she doesnt even care about that anmore! Ahhh, sorry I know there nothing anyone can really do to help, I just need to vent my fustrations so I dont end up taking them out on her. Just please tell me she will get there one day! -------------

) I remind her to go and she just looks at me says she doesnt need to go, 10 seconds later she'll just go right there in her pants. The other day I though I'd just take her every 2 hours so she gets used to doing it on the toilet but as soon as I pick her up she wee's all over me. Replies:

welcome to my world....  i have no advice just sympathy and empathy...
i got toby to be dry for 5 days and he got the little people farm animals he was after, the next day he had wet himself 3 times before lunch! i did at one stage put toby back in nappies and it was definitely the wrong thing to do as i believe it just put him back...  ------------- http://www.myfitnesspal.com/weight-loss-ticker">

I don't know if this will help for you but this is what we did for Sienna.
When she wet we would make her clean it up herself and take off her pants and stuff and keep saying how yucky it was to have wet pants and that it must be uncomfortable. It didn't take her long to work out that cleaning up the pee was no fun so she is pretty good now at going to the toliet ------------- My beautiful big girl Sienna 15.04.06 Double the trouble double the fun Noah & Lola 10/11/07 |

how long have you been TTing her? because jack was abit the same when we started. he got the hang of it and then went backwards, so we gave up and put him back in nappies. started again about a month later and he got it really quickly and haven't looked back.
if you are going to continue with it, i'd put her in undies at kindy too so she doesn't get confused good luck!!! it is a long hard road, but you get there in the end ------------- http://www.alternatickers.com">

Hannah did this too. She seemed great once she got it, and then something switched and it was like she couldn't be bothered. I despaired, DH decided to put her back in nappies, I argued (I'm famous for it LOL ) and eventually she got there.... it took 8 months from start to finish. -------------  |

How old is Kiera ? ive heard a few kids can regress at first.
Did you start when you thought it was the best time, or when she looked ready ? i never had any probs with the weeing part as far as C went (the number 2s , a different story ) cos i started when i could see she was making the connection between herself going and it feeling wet ....could it be possible Keira isnt being dishonest, she really isn't aware of her bladder being full and the connections etc yet ? If she is, then its probably just one of those phases they seem to go through to try us -------------

Haven't gone back to Nappies. We have had a slightly better day today. Only one accidednt at her grandparents. I even told her at a friends place today that we didnt want any accidents, 5 minutes later she dissappeared and I found her on the toilet
Keira turned 3 in August. We started last Summer, she was well and truely ready. We probably could have started earlier but not having a washing Machine and strugling to keep up with washing in winter as it was we waited untill the weather got warmer. I has only been the last few months that she seemed to finally get it and was able to tell me and hold on longer than a few seconds. And only the last few weeks she has been totally dry in undies. I have been taking her to Kindy in undies and making sure I remind her to go. I am hoping to get her really familiar with going at kindy so I can leave her without too many problems. I think the hardest thing for her is she has to fully take her pants off to climb on the toilet and than has trouble getting her pants back. Im hoping with the warmer weather I can put her in dresses to make it easier for her. Oh and I make her change her own pants nce she has wet them. She does try to clean it up sometimes but usually makes even more mess
I know shes a smart girl, this TTing thing just doesnt seem to click with her. I feel like I have done something really wrong. Gaah! We'll get there one day I just hope its sooner rather than later! -------------

Hi there
this is just EXACTLY same deal as we had with our DD who turned 3 in June. Tried and failed TT'ing at least 5 different times since turned 2. When it finally worked (about 2 months ago) this was what we did: * always put her in undies to go to kindy with several clothes changes (they suggested we do this, as they would help train her and it helps them feel like a big kid like the others there). Having said that the staff there were great and told her 'your turn now' every hour she was there at first and she trotted off and sat on it even if she didn't manage to do anything. So they were able to help her undress and undress to begin with too. * we didn't make a big deal if she had an accident just said "oh you didn't make it to toilet in time" * we kept butting heads when I wanted her to go sit on the toilet as she couldn't be bothered and always kicked up a fuss or refused, so I introduced a timer and instead of asking her to go I started just putting the timer on and I said its a game we're going to play and every time the timer its a race and you have to run to the toilet before the timer stops again. so that meant she didn't have to fight me every time I wanted her to go (we did it once an hour the first day and also about 20 mins after a drink). She loved the timer it worked a treat. it took about 2 weeks of using the timer then I gradually decreased using it to see if she'd go by herself and she did but in the afternoons when she'd be overtired I'd just put the timer on to remind her. She still (2 months later) has about 2 accidents a week. * to begin with after couple of days of using the timer she went backwards and got lazy had accidents all day one day so I told her each time she had an accident 1 of her fave toys would have 2 be put away til the next day. it sounds negative but it got her back on track (nothing like losing the barbie dolls!) and then she was fine. * if you've been feeling grumpy at her she'll be sensing that so my suggestion would be from now on just make it a game (buy a timer or something maybe). Sticker charts, bribes of toys, treat foods, treat meals out - we tried it all and none of it worked except the timer and taking a toy off her when she had an accident. Obviously you are best judge of whether she can do it or not but if she's been in undies for a few weeks and gone backwards you have to remind yrself that she CAN do it and is probably just being lazy because its easier. We also had a rule that before we went out somewhere we always had to go toilet even if we think we don't need to, just in case!! * if you're out and about using a different toilet you may need to sit on toilet first then say "after I'm done its your turn then we can go" and don't make it a choice/question - I found that worked too. * Even now she has the odd panic if she's left it too late and has to run to get there in time, but thats ok if they are getting it most of the time. hope that helps - if any consolation the process she's going thru is identical to my DD so I can sympathasise with the frustration, esp when you know they CAN do it! Well I think shes back on track. 2 days and no accidents (it the little things that cound at the moment) Today I havent even had to remind her Yay!-------------
