thats the cry i keep getting from gabriel.

and today we had his first school visit. half an hour into it and he said "can i go in the playground now?" and when we left he said again he didnt want to go to school.

Poor wee thing, i really felt sorry for him knowing that i am sending him off to have all the fun and games taken away... i wish there was a nicer way of teaching him - bar home schooling cause i dont have the patience for that!

Awww, hopefully once he has been to a few more he will know what he has to do at school.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

He will no doubt have a few anxious moments, and I'm sure that within a couple of weeks of him starting everything will fall into place nicely.

What is his teacher like?

Why don't you give him only a couple of intro days this year and start him off next year? It's not compulsory until 6yrs so he could even do some half days etc.

that was my original plan... however if i start him next year they put him straight into year 1, but if he starts this year it will be year 0, which is more of an introduction to school. i dont want to handicap him if i can help it

Hugs! I don't have anything constructive to add coz Maya was sooo ready for school, it was me that wasn't lol! But hopefully he'll settle in as he makes a few wee friends. Are any of the other kindy kids going to be in his class.

i dont know - i wont get to meet the teacher or the kids till the 17th. on the plus it will be a really small class - 5 or 6 kids - and i do know one of the kids is a special needs with cerebal palsy.
he knew a girl in the class today from kindy and i recognised a few other faces in the playground.

Oh... that's a bit of a pain, you'd think that he could have a short time of year 0 before year 1 whenever he was enrolled.

When Nyah started last September she was year 0 and this year she is year 1. I personally think it was the best thing for her.. it made her alot more confident for this year.

Why don't you just hold off until the 17th when the new class opens? That way he won't have to "settle" twice IYGWIM
