Hi everyone,

I have just been offered a nannying job looking after a 2yr old boy 3 days a week in Papamoa... So i'm moving up from Christchurch next week and have no idea of any playgroups we could go to? Any ideas. It's for me to meet people as well as for him to get some new friends as his mum is a solo-mum and also new to Papamoa.

Thanks

I'm live out near McLaren Falls, its a bit of a drive but means our son has heaps of room to run around. I can get a bit boring though so I come in to town most days to visit friends and family. My Mum lives in Bethlehem so I am out that way most days.

Heya!! I'll be moving to Tauranga in July. I know NO ONE!! Due the 2nd of Sep, so keen to get to know some other mums in the area.
Don't know exactly where I'll be living yet, but Tauranga looked so pretty last time I was there, that I am totally set on moving there.
Any advice would be much appreciated

hey quiet-spring welcome to Tauranga (soon). It is pretty here and summer is the best. Im due Nov but have 5 other children to.   I have friends here but only 1 with a child so I looking for new mum friends to. What sort of thing do you wanna know bout tauranga. I can recommend a awesome midwife if that helps

Sure!! I'd love the midwife recommendation. One of my very good friends has 4 girls ages 13- 10 months, and just found out she's expecting again.. poor ducky was on the pill and everything. lol. She's hoping for a boy this time. And although she's more than a bit hesitant I must say their house is full of so much laughter!! I bet your house is never quiet either!
Hmm questions about Tauranga.. suburbs to avoid? We are looking for someplace very very family friendly.. hopefully where most of the neighbors would have young families. Hmm.. what else.. I know the economy is tight everywhere right now, but I hear Tauranga has been holding on pretty well. Seems like a lot of businesses for sale though.. I guess that isn't a question, but your opinion would be great!!

hey welcome quite spring :)

im Alice n i have 2 girls a 2yearold and 12week old!
i had robin philips as a mw 4 both my girls she was great!.
umm areas id avoid are marivale if u can.
i live in the greerton side of gate pa whch is really nice but one road id avoid would be anzac in my area (im nowhere near tht) other thn tht most area are relly nice.
oh wow i hope ur friend does get a boy even tho lil girls are nice but after 4 lol!!
i think tga is doing pretty well apart from alot of shops are clsing dwn but has really effected much ad theses tend to be smaller shops!

I had sheralee myres-kay for my last 2 and she is awesome to. I totally agree with merivale being a no go we are in maungatapu now and I love it lots of families here so all the kids play together the schools a good one and just down the road and kindy around the corner which is also nice. Its also close to town and supermarkets and playgrounds etc. We also lived in papamoa for a couple of years but didnt like that as much. Nice area nice houses and stuff but the a lot of the adults were a bit snobby, Lol. I agree TG is doin well with the economy crap goin on

Parts of Gate Pa are really rough. Lived there for over 3 years. Stay away from the Jones St area. Big problems with roaming dogs and a lot of gang members live there. We lived very close to there. Most parts of Greerton are fine though. I agree Merivale is another area to avoid.

Hi everyone. Came to this thread coz I've only recently come to Tauranga and urgently needed a midwife. My friend raved about Robin Cronin who was her midwife for her boys. She's been away and just come back so I was really lucky to get her. She is just so fantastic and really caring. She also does home visits for you which is great for me with a really active toddler. But you need to get in early to get her!

well it seems I may not be able to make it after all. Woke up this mornin and DH's car has a flat tyre which seems relativly simple to fix doesnt it. Well it would be if the lock nut key thing was there for the mags, seems one of the lovely kids may have taken it god knows where. Anyway hes using my car for work now so I dunno if I can come

We can't make it tomorrow either, Faith & I both have a virus & feel yuck! Went to the doctors today.

We will have to plan one for another time when we are all better

I only just saw this (I keep forgetting about this thread!)

I hope you're all feeling better?

I guess we won't see you at playgroup today, Alice?
I hope Emilie-Mae is better? Can't believe Luka is 4 months!

I'll try to remember to watch this thread so I can make the next meet-up (as long as we're all healthy!)
