as some of you know i have tried to break Rhiannon of the dummy a couple of times now and both times were a disaster.
well WOOHOOOO its worked this time, on friday night we put her dummy on the christmas tree and told her that santas elf was going to come when she was asleep and take the dummy and give it too another little baby that really needed it, and in return she would get a present.
so friday and saturday night she woke every 30mins from about 1am, but didnt ask for her dummy and last night she woke at 11pm, and i told her that if she woke up she would have to go back to sleep by herself as mummy is tired and needs to sleep....well she slept till 5.45am....yahhhhh
the worst is over, she hasnt asked for it since saturday and so glad its gone. (even if she did only have it at night)

oh thats great - so good she could understand the giving to santa etc...
I have made a date to get rid of Rhyley's and that is in about a months time when I have a week off work.. so wish me luck.. like Rhiannon he only had it at bed time (and a couple of times when he snuck it out LOL)

Oh yay! Sometimes I think the bond is bigger to the dummy with the parents than the child.

Yay well done!! How often did she used to have it?
I am thinking ahead about wening Gabrielle - she has it for naps and bedtime or just when she needs settling but if she finds a dummy anywhere outside of those times she wants it... I still think she is too young just yet.
Anyway very pleased for you and good to know it is possible lol :)

Rhiannon only had it for naps and bedtimes, but we had to hide it in between because if she saw it then she wanted it

Yay well done! I love to hear dummy success stories!
A has always had hers just for bed, and I'm not sure when we will ditch it - atm since it is not broken I'm not trying to fix it!

We were lucky (in a round about way) with DD. She got hand, foot and mouth, which was awful, but it meant she couldn't really suck because the sore in her mouth hurt too much. She was about 15 months at the time and she didn't have for the 2 nights that she was really in pain and she never wanted it again. So not the usual way to wean them off it but it worked for us
