I woke to bright red blood.. even in my mc never had any bleeding and she doesnt think the scan place is open today but I'm to ring then if I can.. this is the second aug 24th angel I have lost...I know I'm getting ahead of myself but bright red bleeding is not good:( what a crappy way to start the year.

I had bright red bleeding in my pregnancy with Sam. It was a lot of blood too.
Scared the hell out of me and I thought for sure I was having another miscarriage.
Turned out it was nothing to do with the pregnancy.
It happened a few more times during the first trimester.
Fingers crossed it is something similar for you

the short story is i went to after hours and I am having a scan monday as that is the earliest I can with holidays and no weekend scans.. she cant rule out ectopic but had a look and no tissue that she could see(which is apparently good)
I'm quite numb now really.. probably two angel aug 24th babies:( no pain is a good sign though apparently and if i have any symptoms i have a 24hr number to ring.
I'm not technically an emergency yet:(

They never figured out what caused mine. The only thing they could come up with was maybe it was something to do with scarring from a previous surgery. Anyway, it was really scary - like a good cup of bright red blood!
There was no cramping with it though, apparently bleeding is one thing, but if it is along with cramping that is a bad sign.

They picked up a haemotoma thingy with this pregnancy, basically a bleed near where the placenta had implanted. It was picked up at my 7 week scan and is apparently quite common but I was warned it could cause a bleed.
I have my fingers crossed that baby is just freaking you out

the short story is she examined me and couldn't see any tissue(good sign) but could see a lot of blood(bad sign)..can't do anything till after the scan but I have to ring if I get sicker or much more blood.. she gave me two brochures on understanding mc..so she thinks it's likely.. but wants to wait till the scan and then i can go natural.. or tablet or D and C(probably will do that but i lost a lot of blood last time)
so the short story is she is reasonably convinced I will miscarry because of the pain (contractions in back BH feeling in front) but it may possible be viable.. have to have appointment 1030 then go to assessment unit again and go from there but probably stay in hospital either that day or the next day for operation..
bobbie-totally i told them exactly what i thought about it but if its not 'life threatening' then too bad.

That really sucks Kerri-Anne. I also honestly can't believe that they don't have someone available to do scans. This is the biggest city on the south island for gods sake, you would think that one sonographer would be on duty regardless of it being a public holiday. I can understand it's not life threatening but if it's bad enough to have to go to the hospital then surely it's bad enough that you need a scan. (sorry just ranting away now).
Let me know if you need/want anything honey.

Argh - I remember with Cuinn having a big (bright red) bleed in the early evening, and the hospital couldn't/wouldn't take me to check me out - I just got passed via phone from pillar to post until I got a random midwife (I think!) who said "You're either having a bleed, or a miscarriage". Nooo ... REALLY?? It was bright red blood - quite a gush of it, although it wasn't ongoing - it slowed to red spotting after the initial woosh (we did have a couple more bleeds in the following weeks), but the pain made me cross-eyed. It was horrendous. When I got to the clinic the next day they talked me through blood being ok, pain being bad, and that they weren't expecting to see baby (ie. they thought I'd likely lost him) - so everyone jumped out of their chairs (literally!) when the little monster toddled cheerfully across the scan screen
Wishing you a happy ending xo
Put your feet up, rest and take it very slowly today.

anyway yeah i went on to have a look and saw you had a bleed but not continually bleeding.. i have had like crampy type pain in my back and a bit in my front(more like a pulled muscle) but at the moment nothing else.. the pain is what made her think i was losing that baby...(and the blood )I'd love to have a great outcome like you though..:)

Fingers crossed it's baby settling in (not sure how far along you are), or perhaps a low placenta that's been aggrivated. It really, really bites that just because it's a public holiday there's no one who can see you. Very crap! I'm keeping things crossed for you - keep taking it easy.
(Oh, and I've seen the trolleys in store and they're really lovely! We got a big bag of blocks, and I really wanted the trolley so Cuinn can eventually spread them all over the house Plus trolley type things seem to help lots of kids when they start walking, and we're big on wood and more old fashioned type toys that need a bit of imagination)

We just bought an onion sack of blocks - it was about $20 (from Nature Baby too) and figure he can shove them in there as he pleases - plus for $20, I wasn't too worried! No idea whether they accept bank transfers, but would assume if you rang them and asked it would be ok (they have an 0800 number) - let's face it, money is money!!
I'm glad your cramping has eased - here's hoping baby is just being a poo!

Hugs. It is a really tough thing to go thru.
Maybe ask for your hcg to be tested as well. It has to be taken again a few days after to see an increase so better to get it done earlier rather than later. My 8 year old was a confirmed scan miscarriage as I was early on and bleeding. The scan said that my dates and the sac didn't match so I was just to wait for the miscarriage to take place. I called a midwife who said to get my hcg tested and three days later she confirmed that everything was good. Another scan showed a heartbeat.
Just thought that you could maybe save a bit of time and stress by getting your first set of bloods done early.
Take care
ETA just looked at the time and it is probably too late to find a lab open anyway.

hey foxxy-one have been following your story so sorry to hear about your bleeding. I had the same and bub was okay so my fingers are crossed your outcome is the same as mine was. Still it's frustrating I know. That truly truly sucks that you're being stuffed around and having to wait to find out what's going on. Strange the hospital hasn't done any emergency blood tests to check your hcg levels - surely they could at least do that for you. There must be someone in the diagnostic medlab for emergencies during the holiday period? Also, when I went to Middlemore Hospital for my bleeds they had a very old portable ultrasound scan machine in the emergency department which they used to check bubs. It was from the "dark ages" and the picture quality was grainy but was very useful when my visits were out of normal hours and the radiology/ultrasound department was closed. Maybe you could ask the hospital if their emergency department has a portable ultrasound machine?
*lurker out*

I had bleedings with both my babies and never found a cause.
I remember when I had my first bleeding with Gina and went to A&E after work and I was told I would probably have a ms and to prepare I cried my eyes out until the next morning when I could get a scan and saw a happy little bub moving around. I had a couple of bleeds after that too.
With Emma, I had been spotting for a couple of weeks or so before I even saw a GP, again the scan showed nothing.
Didn't have cramps or pain though either time. Good luck

Hi foxxy one. I think the same thing is happening to me for the second time!
I started bleeding on Monday around 10 a.m. just after I had been for a blood test to check my levels. In my first mc, my hcg levels were really low around 500 and that was when I was about 5 weeks along. This time they were over 2000 at just over four weeks along. Rang the Doctor, who was away on holiday, but the nurse told me to go back on Wednesday for another blood test. I did and the levels had gone up, but not by much. She couldn't tell me what was happening, that I had to wait until Monday to go for another test. That Monday would be "make or break" for me. To me that was worse, I would rather know one way or the other than muddle along not knowing and I hate waiting!
I am still bleeding a bit like you, not much on the pad, but more when I wipe. Sometimes its bright red, othertimes not. The cramping hasn't been too bad. Not enough for a need to take painkillers. I have now been bleeding on and off for 6 days. My normal periods never last more than 3-4 days max.
Tommorrow I go back in for another blood test to confirm whether or not its viable. Hopefully the Doctor is back and I can go and see her.
Anyway, good luck for tommorrow. I will be thinking about you.

Awwww hun I'm so sorry to hear the outcome of your scan, and on top of that it really sucks that you were made to wait so long to find out. I've been thinking about you all day and was really really hoping for things to have gone the other way. I'm truly sorry you've had to go thru yet another mc. Lots and lots of to you and your family.

See now that just makes me even madder at them
A suspected ectopic and they made you wait 3 days!!! It's bad enough you lost the baby but we could have lost you as well (though I'm sure you're in good hands now)
