We ended up abandoning it actually. We're keeping looking for now. Hopefully looking at buying again in the near future.

Terri,

Just a quick note to say that the house down the road from us that i told you about finally sold over the weekend.

Really sweetpea? Oh well thanks for the update - we found a place in grasmere/waikiwi (with huge section although no garage at the moment) we really like so are going to give that one a shot and the one near you was going to be our fall back option.

That sucks shadowfeet but a house is a huge purchase so you have to be really happy with it so im sure the perfect place will come up soon. Im so sick of house hunting at the moment tho so hopefully this place works out!!!

Another house in derwent street has come up on the market it might be outside your price range though Terri. The professionals have it. Good luck with the house hunting i am sure you will all find something that suits you. To be honest the house we brought found us we weren't orginally going to llok at it but we went past and saw the open home and well the rest is history

Each of the houses we've ended up loving I've disliked the first time we've been through, then been back and changed our minds. We're negotiating for another one at the moment, vendor is currently travelling, so could take a while.

Yeah the one in derwent is just out of the price range looks really nice tho

We were negotiating on one and DP decided we werent going higher so i told Chris then like 30 min later changed his mind and it was too late a guy who wants to build on the front got it but he has 10days to go unconditional so we are trying to get pre approved by the bank so we can put in a cash offer cos unless the other offer falls through thats our only hope. Otherwise back to the hunt again

I love living at my parents they are wonderful but we need our own place and to do things our way so im getting kind of impatient with the whole house hunting thing even thou i know the longer we wait the better off we will be.

Sweetpea did i miss your BFP? I just seen you post in Preg threads.

Oh gosh yea, I hate living with my parents and that's without any kids. Sure you might be better waiting a while due to interest rates, but demands definitely gone up here.

-------------

Date Posted: 12 March 2009 at 10:06am
I know but the longer we wait the bigger our deposit so we might be able to go to a higher price which means we will probably get exactly what we want without having to do alterations or get a new roof or better yet something that at least has a double garage.

One of the agents was telling us their biggest problem is getting houses to sell at the moment

Hi girls no BFP here i just asked a couple of questions thats all. In case you heven't read i hurt my knee a couple of weeks ago and have since found out that i have hypermobile joints really they are just loose and if i push them beyond their normal limits i can cause injury hence my semi diclocated knee. I was wondering if anyone else has them and how they effected their pregnancy. It seems i have them in a few joints but no on going pain which can happen so thats good hopefully as long as i don't push them past what is know as their normal stop point i won't hurt myself again. i am sick of not being able to do what i want to do.

I seen last week that the house in derwent has dropped below 200k

Posted By: shadowfeet
Date Posted: 16 March 2009 at 10:25am

Sweetpea, I have to be careful with my knees too because of joints similar. I saw a specialist many years ago for it, and my kneecap only slides off very rarely now. It is very painful though.

Anyway, since we're in the meets room, should we think about having a meet? We are all in similar situations with TTC.

I was typing a reply when my kitten turned the computer off

I'm sorry things aren't going well for you Terri

I'm a bit stressed because my AF is late. We had just decided to delay TTC as well. We're waiting a few days to test at the moment because it's not showing up yet (I have a short cycle). It's very nervewracking.

oh dear things aren't going weel for you are they Terri. Hoping that Josh has sorted out his sleeping do you think its the changing season thing. i am sure things will work themselves out in time.

Dawn, so has AF turned up yet or have you tested?

Josh has a cold or something so that explains his crappy sleeping hopefully it passes quickly cos driving around in the middle of the night is getting annoying!!

Good luck with whichever way you want the test to come out Dawn

Hows the knee sweatpea?

Getting better thanks everyday i can do a little more so thats good i thing i can't do is crawl so trying to chase my cat along the floor when i want to comb him isn't easy. I have to revert to going on my tummy or bum shuffling jee thats sounds like i'm a baby again.

Lol sweetpea.

I wasn't sure which way I wanted it to turn out, but I have a BFP

I think I like it now that it's happened. Today would be my CD 24, so I can't figure out a due date for my screwy 22 day cycle. Perhaps 17th December. And then I can't figure out how pregnant I'm supposed to be . Have a doctor's appointment for next wednesday

THAT IS SOOOO AWESOME congrats and a happy healthy 8ish months to you.

Good time for a baby too its not too hot when you are massively preg but warm enough you dont need to worry how warm baby is as much. Josh was a Jan bub so thats how i found it anyway.

Lol at the dating scan! Apparently most midwives down here are operating out of the hospital now. 1 of my friends is about 6 months pregnant and says that the hospital ones are easier to get in contact with. Gosh it's scary.

The dates appear to fit in well with my study too. I finish exams for the year in November. Hmm, we get our house possession on the day after the doctors appointment. Just a very very busy month.

Thats good your knee is improving sweetpea. When do you start TTCing?

Dawn - I used Angela Shuttleworth and she was really nice and took me on as a maybe when i was about 6mths as we werent sure if we would come to invers or stay in CHC. I think the sooner you look for a midwife the easier it is they seem to book up pretty quick (well did in chch).

I think everyone gets scared when they find out but sounds like everything is falling into place perfectly for you and im so jealous you will get to set up a nursery i missed that with josh not having a house.

Dating scan is the best excuse for an early scan but make sure you think you are about 6 or 7wks so you can see the heartbeat its so fast and cool (and blob like)

Thats awesome you have a preg mate makes it better if you have someone who has recently been where you are

Wow big congrats shadowfeet wishing you a happy healthy pregnancy. Its a bit cool today but its not as bas as i expected though think it will be coolish over the weekend too but looks like it will get watmer next week. I checked out the metservices website. The plan is to start TTC after our 1st anniversary which is on 17 May not sure if we will of if wait a wee bit longer i want to get this knee right. TBH because i have hypermobility naturally loose joints i'm not sure how the whole pregnancy and relaxin hormone is going to impact on things i believe i will have to be extra careful hmm makes me a bit scared.

Im sure you'll be right sweetpea you'll just have to be more aware of over doing it but i can understand wanting to wait till your knee has come right.

Finally the hail comes!! All the news reports have said it will hail all day here but its only just started!

Date Posted: 08 April 2009 at 7:12pm

I hope your knee gets better soon sweetpea, sounds like its improving a lot.

I'll find out about midwives and all that sort of stuff next week, hubbys agreed to come with me to the docs. The vet who comes to where I work recommended I get a blood test to see if I'm immune to toxoplasmosis already, to see if I do need to take the precautions (there's a lot of them because of the work involved).

It won't be a terribly extravagent nursery, the room that's currently decorated at the new house has a unicorn border on the walls.

Hmm, I should be 6-7 weeks last week of April/first week of May. Just in time for telling family around mothers day. We're having a house warming around that time too. All our friends keep saying it's too soon to have a baby. The lectures in the last couple months have been pretty bad because they hear about the other pregnant mate.

-------------

Posted By: sweetpea
Date Posted: 09 April 2009 at 9:57am
Bubs doesn't need an extravegant nursery as long as the room is cosy they will be fine. You can always get some of those decals that you can stick onto furntiure if you want anyway.

I am sure your friends will all be happy for you when you announce your news.

Yup knee is getting better i have days when it hurts more than others but the pain isn't that bad i don't need to take any pain killers for it anyway.

Posted By: WRXnKids
Date Posted: 09 April 2009 at 4:39pm
I meant more the setting up of a nursery i missed that as we were in a rental property we had to be out of 6 weeks before i was due and then all our stuff was sent to mums 2 weeks before i got there and all we had room for was the change table and bassinet in our room as my sisters were using the other rooms at the house and all i wanted throughout my pregnancy was to set up his toys and clothes and bits as i got them so i could seem more real but couldnt (think it was part of the nesting) - Sorry for the pity party man i cant wait to get a house cos even now josh is crammed into a corner of one of the spare rooms and i can never find anything!!

Dont worry about what your friends think true friends will support you no matter what and you'll be the lucky one with a cute wee baby that will make them so clucky and jealous

Yay for not needing pain killers anymore!!!

Sounds really sucky Terri. I hope you manage to find one soon so you get to spread out a lot more. What are your requirements for a house?

I'm so looking forward to decorating the new house. It'll be a great change. I'm loving the stick-me-ups on trademe from invercargill. They look awesome, especially the farm ones.

We have some friends who are so anti children in every way so it's a bit doubtful. Will just hide it for longer there.

I'm glad your knee's feeling better sweetpea.

Ideally 3 bedroom nicely decorated place with new roof kitchen, bathroom (separate bath and shower) and large wardrobes on over 1000sqm with a 10 car garage for free hahaha. Will settle for 3 bedroom home north of tay (or otatara) with good bones (reno or roof required is ok) on large section prefer with a garage for now but if the house doesnt need much work to live in it then no garage is fine for up to $180,000 ish (trying to look at $160 ish at the mo tho just makes the budget a bit more comfy till i return to work when josh or other sibling goes to school). Gotta have easy access for a large high campervan to get to the back yard. We are pretty specific cos we dont need to rush into a place as we can stay at mum and dads but we are starting to feel like we need our own space so are relaxing a little on somethings.

There is such cool stuff they have some wall stick ons at H & Js i looked at them on sat but will wait till we get a place to pic some. I did buy the rest of the cars furniture set for josh tho its so cute so it will be stored under his cot for now.

We had a mate who asked if we were keeping it when DP told her!!! DP just replied um yeah it wasnt planned for nothing. She was his mates GF and we didnt even know her that well so why she thought if we werent keeping a baby we would want to tell her about it is beyond me but she is cool bout it now and always asking me bout him when we see her so maybe your mates will come around as well. How old are you?

-------------

We had requirements similar but in the end relaxed quite a few of those. Ended up with the 3 bedroom largish section place in not quite the area we wanted for less than 160. It's hard to find anything much good for that price in the north areas.

Baby decorations are sooooooo cute. I'm totally sold on the stickmeups. Not terribly expensive, removable and personalised.

We're trying to decide whether to tell family next weekend (would be 6 weeks, just into the new home), or on mother's day (day after housewarming party, would be 9 weeks). Your friend sounds like she was pretty insensitive, but ours are likely to be similar I think. I'm pretty young, 21 in fact. DH is 23.

Midwife recommendations for Shadow if you haven't already got one:

I had Kathy Burke-Harrington - she is really relaxed but very professional and knowledgable.

I also recommend Angela Shuttleworth - she was the teacher on our antenatal course.  She is really upbeat and positive and relaxed as well.  I've met Bernie who is her practice partner I think.  She's lovely too.

Tip - if you want aftercare in Winton (popular option) then get a midwife who has access to Winton Maternity - mine didn't.

I told my mum on mothers day and i was only like 4 weeks she was soo excited.

Hey Sarah thought i messaged ya but must have got distracted and forgot oh well your here now

Most the bad things ive heard about midwifes down here are mostly people just not getting on with theirs - more personality clashes than professional issues but i only know a couple of people who have had kids.

Right im off to cluck over Brooke now - yay i love the photo threads!!

Ha you prob messaged me but I've got baby brain (still!).  Glad you liked the piccy of Brooke.  So proud of her - she's doing her day naps really well again (just in the last couple of days).  Hope she still does them when DH goes back to work tomorrow!

Yeah I had no probs with my MW - would def use her again.  You have to choose carefully because this person is going to be part of your life for almost a year.

I still have baby brain!!! I thought it was such a scam until i got preg now i am a total baby brain believer i do the stupidest things sometimes.

We put an offer on a place we compromised on lots - section size, no bath, single garage and cant access back yard but the house is cheap compared to others we have looked at so we can afford to knock the garage down an built a bigger one out of the way. I cant wait to hear back! Problem is its only just been put on the market so hopefully the lady doesnt want to wait for more interest. Its empty so settlement date can be anytime!! Ring agent ring!!!!!!!!!

Its just round the corner from the music classes my friend takes her boy to so ill be able to walk on nice tuesdays.

Where bouts in west plains? There is an access to the floodbanks real close im hoping will be good for going walking along :)

DP hates roses so has already got plans to tow them out with his van so will prolly take the lot out and put in easy care plants and bark or stones. Will stone down the side of the drive anyway to widen it. Im beggin him to let me keep some of the garden out back so i can grow veges and the tunnel house will be moved to allow for his garage so im pretty happy it should be mostly easy to care for in the end.

My uncles a paint rep (ex painter by trade) and dads a builder as well as 2 of our mates so renovating should be pretty cheap to do once we get everything at trade cost and put on a few beers and nibbles for the workers hehehe

Right gotta get ready to see the bank now that ive cleared all the bills so we are officially debt free at the moment yay!!!!!

Hi guys - hope you get that house WRX!  Is the yard too big or too small?  I've been past that one - has a real nice garden - think you can keep it up haha!

The Waihopai floodbank doesn't go this way.  Some of our antenatal group go walking there though - must try it out one day.

BTW WRX - if that tunnelhouse is looking for a home we would be interested.  Putting my dibs in now!

Sorry Sarah but the tunnel house helped me make up my mind about the place so its staying maybe not in that spot but it will be there somewhere

Yards to small only 630sqm so no 10 car garage and DP will be limited to the amount of cars he can have in the back yard

Shadowfeet - Good luck with the house move and when you get back online let us know how the midwife went if its after tuesday

Hows the knee coming along sweetpea?

Hehe WRX - does yr DP have a bit of a car collection?  You will prob find 630 sqm big enough once you have to start looking after it..... gardening/mowing lawns at weekends etc.  I had a 607 sqm section once - was on my own and just ended up being a slave to it on weekends.

Have you heard about finance yet?

Nice mild weather we've been having lately aye!

dp buys cheap/damaged cars to fix or wreak out for a little extra cash (gotta love trademe) his old place in chch was around 900sqm and the entire back yard was cars at one point. He will easily fill the yard without even trying as we have 6 cars and a camper at the moment so aside from keeping some of the vege garden and the tunnel house out the back it will end up mostly concrete and the front will be fenced for josh to play in so the roses will definitely have to go and some easy care shrubs or grasses will be put in with bark or stones.

Hear about finance monday hopefully

Gosh you have been a chatty bunch in my absence. we had a lovely relaxing time in Te Anau in fact so relaxing that we are heading back up later this week we are taking a long weekend again. I think we should make the moist of this lovely weather while we still can hopefully it will continue for a while yet. we got married in May last year and it was a beautiful day a wee frost in the morning but it warmed up to 16 we were so pleased.

Hope you get the hopuse Terri, we have a section sized 740sqm i think something like that. Its a nice size not too small and not too large.

Sorry i can't offer any advise shadowfeet on the midwife front my cousin had melanie welfare and she was happy with her as far as i know.

We got a full bond refund which is awesome. I also had my midwife appointment. She's really nice. I've been referred to a few places so hope to hear back from them soon. I also get a dating scan because she thinks I'm due 9 days later than I think I am  I hope to get that done in the next couple of weeks.

I'm glad you enjoyed your time in Te Anau sweetpea, should be lovely at this time of year.

Have you heard back about finance yet Terri?

Eww i so dont miss the ms i was one of the unlucky ones that had it till 36 wks but yay for getting an early scan!!!

Hey Charlotte welcome to OhBaby!!

Well the house hasnt gone so well bank pissed us around and after telling us they were happy for us to put in offers up to $180000 we got declined im so angry cos they made me feel so confident and they left it till 4.30pm the night before we were to go unconditional to tell us they want us to show we can afford it by saving the equivalent each week for 6 months AAARRRGGGHHH why not say that before we put in offers. Turns out maybe its more of a bank funding problem as i know of some pretty well off that just had the same problem with the same bank so we have an extension and are using a mortgage broker so fingers crossed this works or we will have to look at waiting until i get my WFF back pay.

Shadowfeet who did you get your mortgage thru?

Oh and to top off everything Josh had his 15mth jabs (3 of them ) and it did not go well him and i ended up sleeping cuddled up on he couch on and off thru the night so im heading off to bed now to catch up on some sleep hoping tonight will be better.

I hope you get a better deal thru the mortage broker we got our mortgage thru ANZ we both bank there and it just a logical choice for us.

Oh no poor josh hope he is feeling better today and that you had a decent nights sleep in the end.

I finished my physio on earlier this week so thats good knee is almost normal again there is still a little swelling and i will have to maintain strength in my quads to help it saty stable but all is good i'm thinking about getting a bike. Hmm i havne't been on one of those for quite a while.

Omg Terri, that's so mean. I really feel for you. I hope you get better through the mortgage broker. We went through SBS and got a welcome home loan. DH works there so got staff rates that weren't any better than the public rates.

I hope Josh feels better soon and you get some good rest.

Bikes are good sweetpea, glad your knee is getting better.

A midwife told me this morning that I have to resign myself to the fact that I'm going to have a high intervention pregnancy. Have to go to the hospital every day til Monday at least. Oh, and most things I eat have been cut out, as well as my activities

why is that shadowfeet if you don't mind me asking? on the bright side you might get more scans then the rest of us which means more pics of bubs.

I have high blood pressure. They're hoping the medication they've put me on will bring it down

More scans was the positive thing I was thinking of. My dating scans on the 12th of May. Then I will find out if I'm due on the 12th or 22nd of December. Hopefully the earlier one.

Don't worry Shadow they never turn up on due date anyway haha - mine was 8 days overdue.    Oh BTW the man at the scanning place is really cool - funny sense of humour.

All the best with finding finance Terri - bah - stupid bank.  I say take all your business away from them if they treat you like that.

Hehe Terri you and I both had mailto:cr@p - cr@p nights.  My Brooke woke up at 2am and didn't want to return to sleep until about 5am.  I did everything - nappy change, outfit change etc - I think the trouble was a big burp that appeared at 4.30am.  I was so grumpy!!!  Couldn't get back to sleep till 6am cos I was all awake and then Brooke woke at 8.45am and wasn't having any more sleep thank you very much.  Grr!  Oh and DH was away overnight.  Good timing.  REally should go and get my sleep.

The man at the scanning place is a family friend, bit embarrassing. I should be about 9 weeks by then so will get to see the heartbeat etc.

I've got my place in antenatal classes sorted already. Midwife insisted I get onto it really quickly as they might not call me back the first time I called, but they did  . I'm in the Parent Centres July-September class.

Which class are you in Charlotte?

I'm due in December but had the choice of classes. It would be awesome if you could get into that class, then we'd get to know each other there. I figured a second trimester class would be easier to sit through.

Hi guys!  : )

JacobsMummy - I'm nearby in West Plains.

The Parents Centre courses are great - plus there are follow on courses arranged by the age of your child, so you get to keep up with some of your old class mates.  Had an antenatal class BBQ tonight.  Brooke really performed and I hardly ate - which is why I'm up at this time of night (raiding the fridge).

The morning sickness is very nauseating so far. Havn't vomited yet though, still early days. I'm pretty used to feeling ill though so have a pretty high tolerance of nausea

It must be that date, they're sending me out the info. Not quite sure on when it's held yet. I'll be about 20 weeks then which is a good time. Less stressful in terms of study as well.

I must be the only one here that lives down south, not a bad area though

Welcome Cherie (Do you know Morina and Marin by chance?)

Dunno what is up with josh he woke at 3am and wouldnt settle so we had a bottle on the couch and we both fell asleep i woke up at 4.30 and transferred him to his cot and went back to bed. I think its been because a lot of people that are normally around have been coming and going a lot and he might be worried who is going to disappear next and for how long.

Josh is trying to help me on the computer a bit much at the moment so will jump on later
