Hi there,
I'm a bit of a serial lurker, but found out this morning we are expecting number two! Was a bit of a surprise as we had only just discussed trying for the second one a week prior. I think poor DH is feeling a little ripped off!
No idea how many weeks - I am guessing 4-5 at the moment.
Congrats to the other October mums to be x
ETA - will come back when I have more time to amend my tickers

Its so quiet in here - were are the rest of my October mums. I can't be the only poas addict out there.
I had my first HCG back this morning (monitoring due to MC last month) and I'm very happy with a 243, but I guess I'll see how its going when I go for the next one.

I'm back! Sorry to leave you so lonely little, I had to go out of town for a few days, but I'm back now!
First thing I did when I got home---POAS! So, no you're not the only addict. It was so nice and dark and pink! Yipppeee!
Feeling a bit more comfortable with it all, but still not nearly as excited as I was last time.

Hi Goldy - it certainly is different this time round, I suppose we know what can happen. But I find it comforting that the odds are still in my favour.
Its also nice to know I'll be monitoring my HCG levels so I guess if something is going to go wrong I'll know sooner rather than later.
I think DH is more excited this time round - he has already been lurking around baby name websites!

I guess I should probably call the doc! Are they monitoring your HCG for peace of mind? I wonder if we'll get early scans this time around.
That's cute about your DH!

Yes they are monitoring the HCG for my peace of mind and also to see if this one is ticking along as it should.
I don't know if its because I've only just lost my last bean or if its something they do for all MC ladies. I still can't get my head round falling preg straight away - it took 8 months to get my first bfp and I was not expecting this one for at least another few months.
Even with my first one I had an early scan (love my dr!). I was 7.5 wks (due to really long cycle bub was only 5.5wks though) I think you can go in after 6 or 7 weeks.
But I don't know this time - I MCd 2 days after the scan so I feel a bit funny about it now. I know I'm just irrational about it all and I'll go with whatever the dr thinks is best.

Hi girls
Thought I would introduce myself in here as I've recently found out I am pg with #2. My name is Sally & I live on the North Shore. I think my due date is 2 Oct going by my LMP.
I had a mc right before I got pg with Liam so that is at the back of my mind too. With Liam I had my HCG levels checked to make sure they were doing what they should & also had an early scan. Not sure what will happen this time but will wait & see what the MW says when I see her on the 9th of Feb.
Who else is in here so far apart from goldy & littlestar?

Morning Ladies,
I'd like to introduce myself as I am expecting baby number 2 in October. I've never joined a forum before so am a real newby.
Doc is monitoring my HCG levels as was only 195 the other day, so fingers crossed it's increasing and fast..!
Am a little nervous about having number 2 as my daughter Dakota is only 6 months old. Scary thought having 2 under 2 but am looking forward to the challenge.
Will let you know if twins, first pregnancy - 2nd embryo didn't make it.

Welcome DonnaB - its great to have another October mum join our group.
Goodness another one who might have twins!!
Do you know what your estimated due date is - I'll add you to our list.
I'm new to forums too - the lingo is a bit overwhelming at first (they have abbrevations for everything) but there is a post under admin which lists them all.
I'm starting to feel sick already - which I'm going to take as a good sign given the last time I had no sypmtoms at all and that one didn't end well.

Hi Littlestar,
Thank you for your warm welcome.
My EDD is 01 Oct 2009. So only just in this new forum.
My DD was born at 34+4 weeks so could have an Aug or Sep baby yet. Fingers crossed I go full term this time.
Thanks for the heads up re abbreviations. Have found this list - am familiar with some but quite a few.
I too am feeling rather ill.. I was with my DD as well but this one feels worse. Are you suffering all day or just in the morning..?
Don't suppose this heat helps either..!

It seems to be an all day affair. I get ill if I'm hungry or have eaten - so there lovely patches during the day when I feel fine. I'm going to rethink the whole meals thing and maybe having lots of little meals instead might work. I just wasn't expecting it this early on (naive I know) but I can't complain cos it means my wee bean is sticking on

Personally, I found small meals throughout the day much better than 3 big ones. I always made sure there were carrots and celery cut up in the fridge. Prunes are good too, for two reasons..! LOL
Worst thing is cooking MINCE..! Ewe.. Always makes me feel wrong.
But nausea is a good sign as well as tiredness.

I'm starting to have little moments of spewiness throughout the day, nothing major yet, just kinda yuck. Didn't have that the first time around either, so hoping it's a good sign! I'll take what I can get.
Are you guys telling anyone yet? We're trying to keep quiet until 12 weeks, but boy is hard not getting busted. I'm pretty sure my SIL knows, but she's had no confirmation. It's kinda fun having our little secret.

My family know and a couple of close friends but for now thats it. I won't tell anyone at work for as long as I can, but given they know about the MC they might notice if the MS cranks up a gear. I don't really want to lie about it either - so I'll keep it quiet until someone directly asks.

So far we've only told my best friend (because she announced she was pregnant, due the same time as me!). And I've also told a recruitment agent as she is working with me to find some part time / contract work - I planned to go back to work just before we found out!
Still haven't told parents yet, but I think thats because it hasn't totally sunk in yet - and as it is the second, whilst still incredibly exciting, I don't have quite the same level of wanting to shout it from the rooftops if that makes sense. We are going to wait until after our dating scan in about a week or so, and then tell parents.

Hi NZCupcake & Donna . Our wee list is growing bigger all the time.
I too have been starting to feel a bit off at times - mainly when I'm in bed & first thing in the mornings. It is definitely a good sign though. As Donna said, I doubt the heat is helping & I just have to remember to drink lots of water.
So far I've only told a couple of friends (not particularly close ones). I will tell my parents this weekend when they come up to stay. Other than that, we will try & wait a bit longer to tell others. I'll leave it up to DH to decide when he wants to tell his family.
Hope you're all having good days & not suffering too much.

Good morning ladies!
Hope the MS doesn't get any worse for you Goldy - uck is right! I don't seem to have anything too bad yet, just little patches of ickyness which a light snack seems to fix at the moment...
I think, but I am not 100% sure, that if we 'quote' the post that Lilfatty has done with the sparkly title in it and remove all the 'quote tags', then update with new information and post it should work... I'll have a go next, otherwise, hopefully someone with far more forum knowledge can give us a heads up

Sally Belly and I have been hanging out in the Dec thread so looks like there is a few repeaters in here.
Very exciting!!!

Hi all
Just got ourselves a cool little "counting down the days" thing. So see if it works.
We had a follow up blood test today (I've had so many blood tests that the blood people no longer confirm my DOB), levels are rising nicely. They are at 1500 now - is that where everyone else is?
I know everyone is different and I shouldn't compare myself to others but I can't help it. I'm not feeling any signs of MS yet..... but my sense of smell is very good! And crankiness is at all time high!!
Hubby is VERY excited. He just said that he wants to sing to the little bean I replied with "can't you find something better to do?"
Oh well, another blood test next Monday then a scan on 17th Feb (which will be 53 days or 7 weeks ish) to make sure everything is in the right place and if there's more than one bean in there!
We have told my BF (and god mother) as she has been keeping up with the clomiphene cycles with us. My mother (but she has to keep it a secret until after the scan then we will tell all the grand-parents to be). And Hubby told his BF cos he was so excited and needed to share with someone straight away!
Also told the person I work with (cos they bullied me into telling them about the treatment when I was taking time off), but I will wait until the 3 month mark before I write a formal letter to the big boss, no matter how obvious it is by then!!
Is any one else having workplace issues? Any suggestions with bully bosses?

Lurking...
SaffronLady - I told my boss almost immediately as I am under specialist care, and just in case I needed time off to go to appointments etc....his reply was "how are you going to afford a baby". Definitely took me aback LOL especially as he was 17 when his now wife had their son...so I'm sure he wasn't rich or anything back then!!!

Wow talk about rude!!! Have a look into the parental leave stuff online, legally they have to give you x amount of days off for specialist care on top of maternity leave. And the hanging onto your job for a year too of course!
I'll get them to hang onto mine I think, though DH does shift work too so it's not too fair to lump him wth 2 kids on his days off
I'm just going to hang out til my first scan! The sonographer in Nelson was awful when I had m 20wk scan last time, and the dates were out with the 12wk one, she was too young to look at anything. At least I now live near 3D scan places too

Yay Peanut you made it in here .
I have no idea what my hcg levels are at this stage. Today the ms seemed to step up a notch so I'm taking that as a good sign. I see my MW for the first time on Monday. I think I'll see if I can have an early scan just to reassure myself.
I am so tired, early night I think

HCG levels vary greatly from pregnancy to pregnancy, so long as they are rising is the main thing (am a paediatric nurse, have worked in maternity and neonatal care too).
A friend was saying her first level was about 30!!! And she is fine, due in July.

Hey SaffronLady,
I too had to have my HCG levels monitored. Last week they were only 194 but results from today's test came back at 1989 which is excellent.
I think everyone is different, just as long as it's rising dont' think you have to worry about anything else.
Nausea really kicking in now too - touch wood, still haven't thrown up yet.. Don't suppose that would be terribly pleasant.
Told our parents only with DD and waited till 13 weeks before we told everyone else. Again have told parents but not sure when we'll tell everyone else as I think I might show earlier with #2 so they'll smell it a mile away.
My boss guessed at about 9 weeks with DD - he said I looked different..??? LOL

We will tell parents & family about 8 weeks and my HOD at work. Everyone else will find out at 12 weeks or around then.
Feeling sick still so that is a good sign. I feel ill until about 10ish and then come right. Have dry retched but no vomitting.

Welcome porcelina and peanut!!
Goodness two new mums in one day!
I got my hcg back 3850, so relieved that they are doing what they should. I feel quite positive about this wee bean sticking in there.
I think my work will be pretty cool about my preg - they were great about the MC (kinda had to fess up when I called in sick and couldn't stop crying) Two of the guys have just had new bubs in the last two months so I think people will be quite supportive.

I think you are very brave getting pregnant again so soon! I am trying to not think about bad things and be positive, my first pregnancy was great til near the end.
I feel mean today, I tickled Ruby last night and she threw up everywhere, ooops

Not so much brave as thats just the way it worked out.
Emotionally we were ready and to be honest I wasn't expecting things to be in working order straight away. So the BFP was a suprise, especially as we had been TTC for 8 months for the first wee bean.
But all seems to be going fine, even getting MS this time round.

Congrats October mums...great to see some "repeat offenders" here. I must admit (and I must be sick for even thinking this) but I miss the excitement of finding out about a pregnancy! Cant wait to do it again.....now that is sleep deprivation hitting hard!

Thanks MrsMojo, I'm sorry I haven't been able to post in your guys list... (was so upset at the time) but I've been back in and it's good to see all those baby bumps getting bigger!
Goodmorning everyone!
Gotta say that I'm pretty nervous today - blood tests taken this morning so will have an HCG thingey this afternoon. The first POAS I did was so strong, did another one last night, and the second line was soooo faint - I don't know what that means
Trying not to stress (or go and buy another blinking test!)

I actually did a test that could be done 7 - 10 days AFTER conception. It came up negative so decided to have a few drinks to celebrate my brothers engagement. Then still had nausea and felt very tired so did another test a couple of nights later and it came up with a very faint 2nd line.
The next day at the doctors, I did another test with him and it came back negative but the blood test came back positive. It's odd that some work and others don't.
I found this info about HCG levels - hopefully this might put your mind at rest. Don't waste any more money on Pregnancy tests hun. Although must admit I did do 5 myself..! LOL
Caution should be used in making too much of hCG numbers. You may very well have low hCG numbers but still deliver a wonderfully perfect and healthy baby.
3 weeks gestational age: 5 - 50 mIU/ml
4 weeks gestational age: 5 - 426 mIU/ml
5 weeks gestational age: 18 - 7,340 mIU/ml
6 weeks gestational age: 1,080 - 56,500 mIU/ml
7 - 8 weeks gestational age: 7, 650 - 229,000 mIU/ml
9 - 12 weeks gestational age: 25,700 - 288,000 mIU/ml
13 - 16 weeks gestational age: 13,300 - 254,000 mIU/ml
17 - 24 weeks gestational age: 4,060 - 165,400 mIU/ml
25 - 40 weeks gestational age: 3,640 - 117,000 mIU/ml
Non-pregnant females: <5.0 mIU/ml
Postmenopausal: <9.5 mIU/ml
Keep in mind that these numbers are only a guideline. Each and every woman’s hCG levels can rise differently. The level itself does not matter nearly as much as the rate of change in the level.

NZCupcake - wait for the blood tests before worrying about anything - those pee tests are so variable!
Could be a different brand thing - I know I got wildly different results if I used different brands. Also the concentration of your pee makes a huge difference, cos your second one was done at night.
Fingers and toes crossed for you!!

Ah you guys are great - thanks for the advice and info
I'm trying to keep myself ultra busy at work to stop thinking about it! It's kinda working... well not really, but I keep telling myself it is!
I am off at lunch time to collect my Marriage Certificate from the High Court - exciting!

NZCupcake - I couldn't resist, and did a (4th) test after my second blood test results had come back....even though my HCG level was 262, I still only got a faintish line on the test!! So don't worry about the faintness of it - it's generally more to do with how much dye is in the test.

NZCupcake - its natural to worry about it today while you are waiting for the results - I know I've been guilty of it every time I'm waiting for results.
If you had the test first thing in the morning you can usually get the results back in the afternoon (if they haven't arrived at the drs - ask the dr to ring the lab)

On the test thing - mine have always been faint and I have no idea why - they do vary lots.
I am more nervous about this pregnancy than the last - I keep thinking something is going to go wrong! No reason to think it will but just stressing.
So lets all think positive - who is finding out the sex?
