Hi all
How does Sunday 22nd February in the afternoon suit?
Also is there anyone from the Hutt Valley area that wants to suggest a meetup place for March? I don't know the area well.
EDITED FOR CHANGE OF VENUE: SINCE IT'S GOING TO BE TOO WET FOR LINDALE WE'LL MEET AT CHIPMUNKS TAWA.

That sounds great
We could do Avalon Park in Lower Hutt, or even Huia Pool (they have an outdoor paddling pool). I will keep thinking though.

we would love to come, but not sure if we will have our car back yet, its been 3 weeks already, and have been told its going to be at least another 1-2 wks before its repaired (apparently having trouble finding parts), if we had known it ws going to be this hard we wouldnt hve brought the car in the first place

Mines Not!
Has anyone been to Lindale before?
Are we planning on actually doing the farm walk?

Mine won't be coming either but I may bring my sister and her 2 kids (7yo & 8yo). I think it'd be great to do the farm walk if the weather's ok, the kids would love it. Otherwise there's only the bee store and the big cheese to entertain them.

My girls love the Farm walk! There's not really that much else to do there, except maybe coffee at the cafe.
Kylie, the roads out here arent that scary I promise (even though I am too scared to drive on them ) Lindale is just off the Main road.
Anyone want to suggest a time?

I'm free all day, morning or afternoon from 9:30am onwards.
Shall we say 1-1:30pmish? That way we can feed our kids at home and then spend some time out there before having to head home again to feed them dinner.

That should work for us.
My DH will be coming as well. So he agreed to yesterday
Is the farm walk very buggy friendly?
|
Posted By: Daizy
Date Posted: 17 February 2009 at 4:01pm
1 - 1:30 works well for us too.
Buggy Friendly? I think so...... I have never done it with a buggy myself but have seen other people. There are a few gates to get through and a bit at the end which is quite hilly.
I am still trying to decide whether to bring my mountain buggy or just put Maddi in a backpack or front pack.

I think it's just the width of the paths/gates I'm concerned about as I remember Staglands was barely buggy friendly so ended up not being double buggy friendly at all.
|
Posted By: Daizy
Date Posted: 17 February 2009 at 4:22pm
Yeah staglands is shocking for prams. I am sure Lindale is better, the only thing I can think of that my be a problem is a few of the double gates.
I guess you could email them to find out.

Hmm, just looking at the prices, they have gone up heaps since we last visited

Trish from what I remember the width would be fine most of the way, even for a double buggy, but it is quite steep especially at the end (which is steep, uphill, uneven and grassy) and there are a few gates to go through which I'm really not sure about sizewise.
If you have or can borrow a backpack for one of the girls I can lend you our one too. I also have a comfy cruiser frontpack (which I think goes up to 15kg) if you want to borrow it.

Wow, you're right it's $20 for us to go which is ok but if the price is too much for anyone I'm happy to meet elsewhere.

The price is fine for us too, $20 for me and Keira.
Last time I went, which was only a few months ago it was $16 for the whole family.

$16 to go visit a farm? ( I'm a farmers daughter me )
Jo, I'll talk to DH about it and see. Both girls are toddling about now too so we might manage without it.
I'll do my best to remember those maternity pads too!

Jeepers, $36 for us
I'll talk to DH, will probably cost us over $50 when I include petrol to get out there

I just checked the long range forecast and although they haven't got predictions for Sunday yet it's not looking promising.
ETA: according to one news we'll be getting rain until Monday so I'm thinking an outdoor farm walk won't be quite so fun.

That weather isnt looking too good. Just had a look at Sundays forecast and there seems to be just a few showers but a strong northerly.
Do we want to come up with a bad weather plan?

Definitely! I'm not keen to do the farm walk if it's been raining during the days before hand (I'm too much of a city girl ).
Any suggestions?

Theres really not much to do in Kapiti on a rainy day, the only thing I could think of was the playground in the mall but then thats not that exciting.
What about Chipmunks in Tawa?

I'm not a city girl and walking through mud doesn't appeal to me either
I'm open to suggestions. Would Chipmunks be accessible for you Christy if your DH isn't coming?

Yeah, its right next to the train station....isnt it?

Chipmunks sounds good. Same time?
-------------
|

Date Posted: 20 February 2009 at 10:52am
Same time works for me!
I let DH off the hook and he's now going to go diving instead.
Finally I'll be able to show the girls why we sing 'I'm a little chipmunk on my back...' at swimming lessons at Tawa pool
Christy I think it's just a 5 - 10min walk. Jo might be able to correct me.

Yep, about 5-10 mins. Make sure you have raincoats though as it's not sheltered.

|

Date Posted: 20 February 2009 at 2:26pm
Yeah, I am pretty sure I know the way.
I'll try get there about 1 - 1:30 although may end up being late.
Is anyone DH's still coming? Im trying to decided whether I need to convince mine to help me keep track of the girls.

Sorry, I'm going to pike on this one. Michaela has a cold which seems to be worse today so I really don't want her going out and prolonging it or sharing it around.
