Hi all!
I'm keen to meet other pregnant Mums and Mums-to-be on the Shore, and flexible with days & times if you want to let me know any suggestions?
I'm first time pregnant, my Little Bean isn't due until October but I'd love to chat with other ladies who are going through it all too, or who've been there done that! The forums are great, but it's always nice to have an iced coffee while chatting right?
Hope someone else out there is interested and I'm not going to be all lonely here!

Hey all North Shore Girls
Gingerbaby thought since you were having a stress time with scan and all, hope you don't mind if i make a wee suggestion.
How's Tuesday 31/3/09 at say the coffee place next door to new world albany at 1030, its central, really yummy food and coffee etc, good baby parking at new world end, and close to motorway for everyone. For anyone who doesn't know it it is in westfield albany mall, far end near ASB, New World, Aim for new world and the coffee place is to the left of the check out area.
I'll be there if anyone else wants to come.

HELP> Has anyone previously done a/n classes at North Shore hospital- We have heard that they are horrible, but are running out of options as to where to get classes. We can not aford $290 to go to parents centre and MAMA are unable to confirm any dates until 7-10 days before a course starts which is an issue for me as I work rostered shifts. I had booked days off for a course and then when the dates were moved 4 weeks forward my boss hit the roof and I will be lucky to get any choice in the next 6 months of shifts. Tried re booking but MAMA unsure when next class will be between now and christmas. Am at my wits end. HELP!!!

We did our antenatal class through NSH when I was pregnant with Samantha. The class itself was excellent. The only bummer for us was that we didn't 'click' with the others in it so didn't get the nice coffee group out of it. Apart from that, we got all the information we needed out of the course and it didn't cost a cent, so I was happy
Edited to add: The coffee group thing didn't matter to me as I had all my OB friends anyway

Yeah, I've heard that the coffee groups that come from the hospital either just don't happen in the first place or fold pretty quickly. I've just booked the natural birth antenatal classes at Birthcare. It's free, nice environment, people I know who've been loved it (both husbands and wives, not just the wives!) and are still in touch with people they met on the course. It covers everything the normal antenatal class does, but is a bit more hands on and physical in that it gets you to practice breathing etc more. We start 30 June and I can't wait!

Hey Anthea, yeah you definitely are able to birth at Birthcare. If you have the baby there it's free, but if you have it at North Shore or Auckland you pay but from what I've heard it's worth it. You can ask for your own room, your partner can stay with you etc. You should just go for a tour there or do your classes there to get the feeling of the place? And book in your stay anyway, then if you don't end up going on the day then it doesn't matter but at least you won't get turned away cos they're fully booked.
Just thought there's a nappy expo thingy next weekend that I'm going to and giving Anthea a lift, anyone else want to come along or maybe meet for a coffee beforehand? Suggest Milford Mall's foodcourt where there is a good coffee shop and huge ottoman in the middle for us to sit around and kids to crawl all over (it really is huge!), say 10:30 then anyone who wants to can head over to check out nappies?
Find out how you can save money and the planet at the International Real Nappy Week Expo. See and buy a range of cloth nappies. Or learn how to make your own nappies through one of our tutorials. Child friendly play area available and refreshments for sale.

Hey ladies, thought I might join in here as well. Hi scubygirl I am due about 8 November with #2, but think I will probably end up giving birth in October. My DS was born at 35 weeks 5 days, we think due to my high blood pressure, so good chance of this one coming early too, though hopefully not as early as last one.
Oh and I live in Hillcrest.

Hey guys- just home from Auckland Hospital. they may down grade us from high risk to moderate if all well in two weeks with some followup bloods and our anatomy scan, which means we can be transferred to the local hospital's obstetrician. Phew!
am still nervous though as keep waiting for somethingto go wrong. feeling like crying this afternoon, so might go curl up with a good book or a soppy movie and have a bawl- apparently helps.
Hmmmm

morning you all
does anyone else have this? It's about sex I'm 28 and love sex and all that it involved. I liked it through the first trimester and some of this second one, but now im 23 weeks it's not good. I still like it but it's painful, uncomfy, sometimes bleeding and just not great. i feel so sorry for my partner he's such a sweetie about it, but it makes me feel bad, unsexy, not great etc. Do any of you have the same thing going on? Cause I'm worried it's on my mind i've at least another 3-4 months before wee princess is due and i don't really want to be celibate for all that time, it seems like an age!!! What positions work?
Sorry to blah on, but i'm up early as wee princess is kicking me like mad :-)

Hi preggy ladies! If anyone's keen, I'm hosting a Honey Child nappy demo at my place (top of Sunnynook Rd), on either 20th or 22nd July from 7:30pm. It'll be really low key - Toni (Honey Child and due in October Mum) will show the products, but no pressure to buy at all as she hates the hard sell thing so even if you have no interest in cloth nappies it'd be nice to still meet you! Let me know if you're keen for which night and I'll book most popular with Toni. Hope to meet some of you then!

I'd be in for next Wednesday, anytime so long as it isn't too early.
Next Friday is my birthday, would love to take the day off - but how do you take a day off from life

Aww thank you so much! I didn't want to ask as it's probably quite a long way out from you. I will be in Birkenhead, near the New World. Will have to find out exactly where, but it's Harper Street. I so wish my Sam could meet your Sam!

Okay shall we aim for thursdays starting 20th August at 1030 am say at Albany Mall by New world- there is a cafe there that has moveable tables and is off the general traffic so a bit easier for those with toddlers? also define food and coffee and not too pricey.? Also close to loo's and heaps of parent parks up that end. etc.
PM me if interested so i know i'm not the only one coming.
