Okay..so I have a question, that is probably really really dumb, and I have no other reason for wanting to know apart from the fact that it came to me out of nowhere when I was in the supermarket..

When you have  a c-section do you still have all the bleeding afterwards???

you certainly do, but apparently it should be lighter and not last as long as if you have a natural birth

lol, I bled for a total of 9 weeks, It's not a silly question. The bleed is your body cleaning out any remaining fluids, the uterine wall thinning back down, just the womb's healing process in general is the same as for a normal birth.

Thanks, don't know why I didn't think you would but I seriously didn't think it happened. Lucky I had a natural birth or I probably wold have been really surprised. Any who knows why this came to me in the supermarket, but thanks ladies

I have had the same thought and asked a friend of mine who had had a c section.

I kinda thought they may have "vaccumed" you out while they had you open

I think it depends on how good a clean out you get when they have you opened up. I bled for 2-3 weeks with my c/s, more like 6 weeks with the VBs.

My bleeding was worse with the c/s, very heavy, lots of clots but only last 2 weeks whereas after the VB it was lighter, no clots, but went on for 5 loooooooooong weeks.

I bled longer with my c-sections than I did with my natural birth, so much for cleaning out while they were in there! *sigh*

Most people bleed for longer after a c section. I bled for 6 weeks, and quite heavy at times.
