Hi there

We have been giving Eva gaviscon and recently she spewed blood so the dr said we have to give it more often, she is now having it 3 times a day but I notice that she still spills about 4 -8 times but it is just really thick and hangs around in her mouth, has anyone else noticed this, is it normal?

I thought the Gaviscon was suppose to stop them spilling, she did spill a lot more than she does with the gaviscon.

It reduces the spilling, but Reuben still spills constantly on it! Is she breast or bottle-fed? I found that when Reuben has it mixed in with a bottle feed his 'spills' are more liquid. But when he has it after breastfeeding, he spills up what I'm guessing is most of the meds! All lumpy and jelly-like, and yep, there's icky bits that will hang around his mouth for a while. You could try giving it half-way through a feed? Seemed to help us a little on that.

Also, he is on it 6 times a day, but check with your Doc first about that, just in case! He's 10 wks old.

I used to give Harry his gaviscon before a feed and found that worked better.... and he was on 6 times a day too. Hope it sorts out for you soon, I remember being very fed up with having to catch spills all the time! So much washing!

I give it to her at the beginning of a feed with EBM and then breast feed her. She really hates the taste and it is a fight everytime to get her to drink it, today I expressed 50mls and mixed it with that and she took it so much easier, I normally express about 20mls.

I have found that she doesn't seem to be so spilly at the moment so maybe because I have been giving it to her more often for the last couple of weeks it is woking, maybe about 5 spills now and not as big, although sometimes they are huge and sometimes not.
