I'm in here too, same EDD as Na_#1 - 7 December.

Big hugs Na, how stressful. Lots of people have bleeding early on though and go on to have healthy pregnancies, so I'm sure you'll be one of them too. As Megansmum said, might be worth having bloods done for peace of mind though.

I went and had mine today today, 15DPO and 438 which seems to be quite high but I had really high levels with DD too and was convinced for a few weeks that there were twins in there! Going to probably repeat them on Thursday to check they are rising, then tell close family the news. Have either of you told family yet?

I also need to find a midwife as the one I used last year is no longer working in my area (and yes, I do have an 08 baby to go with this 09 baby!)

Na_#1 - I hope your spotting stops soon, it's a bit scary but could be implantation as I had a similar thing myself and that's what the doctor said - I had bloods and a scan to confirm everything was ok

Thanks for the kind & encouraging words ladies
I had my first blood test on Monday & it came back fine.
From today the Dr has advised that I should have daily HCG testing to see if it keeps on going up.
I am trying very hard to stay optimistic, but after 1 m/c already I am finding it very hard to keep a positive outlook.
Maybe TMI but the spotting is now very minimal & like a creamy browny colour.
I also had a scan yesterday but it was unfortunately too early to see anything, I will be having another in 2 wks time so will hopefully know something more conclusive by then.

Na_#1 - understand you are scared. Its taken me 17 mths to get a BFP after my first 2 ended in MC. first at 11wks and 2nd at 5 wks. Even now at 5 1/2wks am still very scared! I am trying to think positive - it;s out turn.....we are going to have sticky babies!!!

Hey Bree, it is very, very scary.
I am thinking positive though & have booked myself & Bean (thats his/her belly name) into the Obstetrician on the 29 Apr.

We just have to beleive that it's going to be fine for both of us

Crazymum - you need to go to one of the websites i.e. lillypie or pregnology etc & set up a ticker, you then have to put the link they provide you with into your Ohbaby signature, which is under your profile.
I hope that makes sense

Hi Crazymum and Bree, welcome!

Na, will that be a 7 week scan? I have a referral form for one if I want one, I had one last time at just over 6 weeks and it was such a relief to see bubba's tiny heartbeat flickering away. I'm sure everything is going to be fine for you, and you too Bree

Had repeat bloods today and hcg has risen to 1201 from Tuesday's 400-odd so all on track.

Still deciding when to tell family - don't know if I can hold out until after my first scan!

Got blood result today - hCG levels were 720.
Exciting to know there is really something going on in there - the three HPT's just weren't convincing enough!

Wow December bubbas!   Awesome...big congrats ladies!

Na_1-  I tink it's pretty common to hve browny discharge about now....I certainly had it early on...about week 7-10 if I remember? Something like that. And definately when my first period was due after my BFP...then it was quite hevy, so very very stressful.  I had a few blood tests but it was too stressful doing that (for me) cos there's nothing you can actually do about your HCG rising or not IYKWIM? You'll probably find everything is all fine and dandy and it's just bubs making a nice deep burrow for itself. Sending lots of hugs and sicky vibes to everyone!

The discharge has all but stopped so I am putting it down to my body trying to have AF still, stupid body, lol.
I will be having another scan at the end of next week which will make me close to 6 weeks just to check that little Bean is in the right place.
I have also booked us in for our first Obstetrician appt on the 29 Apr.
POSITIVE THINKING!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thats great news about your hCG levels Na_#1 you must be looking forward to the scan.
I'm feeling fine, a little bit tired so appreciating the weekend and catching up on some work around the house.
Had my first night out since BFP last night. Took a couple of beers with water in them to try and put suspicious friends off the trail. Hopefully it worked as going to try to hold off on letting people know.
I'm trying to eat healthily as well MegansMum. Was going to the gym up until now so don't want to ruin all that hard work! Have been buying heaps of fruit which is great.

I know what you mean about putting people off the trail. We have told only a handful of people, but the rest will get suspicious pretty quickly if I don't pretend to be drinking too.
At least the ones I have told can help put the others off the scent

Hi everyone,

Found this really interesting link tonight about hcg levels at 16 DPO - basically it was a study looking at hcg levels of women at 16DPO and seeing how many went on to have a successful pregnancy. It seems like a pretty small sample to me though, but it was scientifically based so not just something random out there on the internet! I'm hoping that this might be helpful if anyone knows their 16DPO hcg levels, full details http://www.squidoo.com/16dpo - here

25 - 50 hCG at 16dpo -- Four women in this study had hCG levels below 50 at this stage. The researchers concluded that with these levels less than 25% would continue on with their pregnancy with more than 75% miscarrying.

50 - 100 hCG at 16dpo -- Of 16 women, 25% continued on with their pregnancies.

100 - 199 hCG at 16dpo -- Of 27 women with these levels, 73% continued on with their pregnancies.

200 - 299 hCG at 16dpo -- Of 48 women, 96% continued on with their pregnancies

Over 300 hCG -- All 105 women continued on with their pregnancies.

Edited - I hope this doesn't upset anyone if by chance you had low numbers, the website explains in detail that even if it's low it doesn't mean you're going to miscarry, and if it's high doesn't mean you're 100% safe.

Hi guys,

Im adding myself to the December list - yay a BFP for me! finally!!! it seems very sureal, only just found out on friday and so i cant quite believe it!   i think my EDD is around 12th Dec but not really sure? had my second bloods today to check my HCG levels are rising so hopefully that is all good.

NA - im exactly the same as you, i have a brown discharge too daily, on friday i thought it was my AF starting so thought we had another failure this month but then the clinic rang to say my bloods confirmed a BFP!    it certainly makes you a bit anxious eh, ill feel better once we get his avo's bloods back and find out what the next step is.

Im only about 4 weeks and 4 days pregnant but am already having all the symptoms, sore boobs, nausea - at all dif times of the day, tiredness, headaches - im amazed that is happened so fast!

I think im still in shock as we have had to go thru alot of medical procedures and IUI and alot of $$$ to get here, i was starting to think it wasnt going to happen!

Lets hope for many sticky babies!!

I think we will be having an early scan as we had 3 eggs this month so they will want to know exactly how many we hit with the IUI ! it could be interesting!!

Hey ladies,

Welcome Biddy & jmac, it is good to see the group growing

Just a quick question about HCG levels, mine was 469 at 16 DPO & then 1212 at 18 DPO.
The doctor said they are not going up as fast as they should be, but I thought that as long as they double every 2 days it was fine??????

Na, my hgc levels were almost the same as yours and I had 48 hours between tests and I was told they are fine - I don't think you have anything to worry about, silly doctor. They're supposed to double every 24 - 48 hours which yours have.

My idiot Dr has no idea what he is talking about.
He called me & asked me to come in & see him, so I did.
He sat me down & went through my HCG results & then said he wants to send me for a scan tomorrow because he suspects I might have an ectopic pregnancy.
His reasoning is that my HCG levels have not doubled every day & he thinks that 469 at 16 DPO & then 1212 at 18 DPO is very, very low.
He then said that I am remarkably calm for what is happening & that some women in my situation think it is the end of the world, so he basically implied that he is not hopeful that this pregnancy is viable.
WTF??????????
Is he serious????????
From what I can tell after going on the trusty old google, my HCG levels are perfectly normal & as long as they double every 48 hrs it is fine.
URGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry ladies, I am just so frustrated that my Dr is making me feel like there is no hope at all

I think you are best to find a midwife a.s.a.p Biddy, as the good ones only take on a few Mums a month and fill up quick. I have a meet and greet appointment with mine next week (very exciting!) My due date is the 4th of December. Have just been a bit more tired than usual but symptoms just seem to have kicked in over the weekend. I cringe when I take off my bra now and this afternoon I was sitting in staff meeting feeling a bit dizzy with a sore tummy and watery mouth.
Not pleasant!
Welcome to the group jmac, that’s very exciting news about 3 eggs – talk about watch this space! Is this your first baby? You seem to have all the symptoms going on strong – hopefully that is a good sign of a sticky baby / babies!!
Na_#1, your doctor sounds like he is just causing unnecessary stress! My print out said that hCG levels should double “approx” every 48 hours (which yours are obviously doing) and that’s info straight from Medlab. Anyway – hope your scan goes well tomorrow.

Na_#1 I hope everything goes well tomorrow for you.

So I got my bloods back today that were taken on Thursday & my hcg level was only at 85 & the nurse just said if i experience any bleeding contact the doctor & that they were rather low.
So of course I am worrying but after talking to the pharmacist at work if all is going well mine should now be at 1360 so she has suggested I ask for another lot of bloods?

I hope baby has stuck & we have obviously just found out incredibly early.

Just quickly popping in while cooking dinner, but why don't you give Healthline a call and ask them what they think of your hcgs - you could play dumb and say that you haven't heard anything from your doctor so were wanting to know if your levels were ok? Healthline are great, ph no is 0800 611 116.

Oh and aren't hcg levels incredibly high with ectopics - e.g in the 10,000s?? - not low? .

Will be back later...

wouldnt you be in pain if you were having an ectopic pregnancy?

I found this on google http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ectopic_pregnancy   gives early signs so I would think unless you have been having extreme cramping it is unlikely you are having an ectopic pregnancy.

Just a word of warning I think if you have a scan before 6 weeks you might not be able to see the heart beat.

but yes your dr sounds like he is causing you worry for nothing.

Lurking....Na, at 14 DPO my hcg was 96 and at 16 DPO it was 262...your GP is being an idiot. As long as they are rising every 48 hours approximately (and yours are!!) they are fine.

Lurking as well

Na, what a silly doctor!! My MW has always told me that hcg should double every 2 days, Ive had to have my hcg tracked both pregnancys due to bleeding, and your results look really good!
Im pretty sure if you had an ectopic you would have pain and bleeding...
Your GP REALLY needs to brush up on pregnancy Im sure things are just fine, but good luck for your scan tomorrow **hugs**

Hi guys,

Na, I agree your doc sounds like he isnt that onto it, i had my hcg done yesterday and it was 17dpo it had gone from 70 at 14dpo to high 300's at 17dpo and they were happy with it at the fert centre. i have even had spotting and they were happy enough?

I worked out i think my EDD is 10th Dec now according to an online thing. ive also tried to track down a midwife as they said dec midwives are hard to get. ill keep trying today!

today im quesy and very tired so def have plenty of signs to say its there! im still in shock tho but its starting to feel real. I have my first scan on 23rd April at 7 weeks so that will be cool, then it will really seem real !

I havent had any docs apt or anything tho, at what stage do you do docs apts etc, i sort of feel like ok your pregnant but what do you do now? they said i dont need any more bloods or anything, the next apt is the scan. i feel like i need more info! lol

I better add myself to the list. I'm not sure when I ovulated, but an approximate due date would be the 17th December.

We had decided that we didn't want to keep trying because of our financial situation. Murphy's Law

What awesome news after such a long wait jmac!! Can't wait to hear how many babies in there since you're with the fertility clinic you probably don't need to go to the regular doctor. All they do is confirm the pregnancy and get bloods if you need (which you've already got) and then give you a bit of info on what food not to eat and a 'bounty pack'. You can also get these with a mid-wife so unless you particularly want to you can probably go straight to a midwife.

Sounds like your doctor is pretty clueless Na_#1, I'd go straight to your midwife and not go back to him about anything else baby related!! But if you can get an early scan in for your trouble (to check it's not ectopic - I assume he's referring you or else he's really incompetent) that's at least something

NA- your research sounds right..crazy doc!!!

as for pain with ectopic yes but not till 7 weeks often..they thought i was having ectopic due to low levels last time (and all the bleeding) and took two sets of bloods etc but I had had no pain at all and they were still worried about it ..they gave me scan and bloods to rule it out.

you definitely would eventually be in serious pain with an ectopic but low levels is one of the signs (not that i think yours are Na)

Well good news girls,

I definetely do not have an ectopic pregnancy, there was a little tiny sac in the right place that was consistent with my dates, so as far as I am concerned Bean is growing as he/she should.
I will be having another scan in 2 weeks to check for a heart beat, but from now on I will not be letting my GP stress me out with anymore stupid theories or test results.
I have decided that I am not going to test my HCG levels again & just let nature take it's course.
What will be will be

Anything new happening with anyone else????????

*lurking*

First, big congrats to all you December Mums! Yay for you all, hope you all have a H&H 8 months or so

Secondly, Na_#1-  ((hugs)). Your GP is an egg. Like lots of the oher ladies have said, it's the doubling of the HCG levels that are important AND by the way, having high HCG (or low) doesn't mean you will or won'r miscarry. It's awesome you've seen a little sac right where it should be and your attitude about 'what will be, will be' is excellent. Chances are, it'll all be great  Esp once you've seen the heartbeat in a week or two.  But in theory anyway, any of us at any stage could 'miscarry', so your Dr should be re-trained in the art of conversation and definately in the skill of knowing WTF he is talking about. His sort of attitude makes me quite cross.   Do you want me to give him a serve? lol at this stage of pg I am about ready to give someone one and he sounds like a prime candidate.

Good evening ladies, I am  new to this posting. It is great to hear all the eagerness around the whole being pregnant thing. I am reading some of the posts and am so amazed at how you ladies are so organised. I have had 4 miscarriages and was a real wreck, that was back at the begining when me and hubby were first starrting our family. I am now onto number 10 and still find it amasing at the process we as women go through to produce our bundles of joy. In the last 3 years I have had 2 periods and this will be number 3 in that time. On a lighter side I just have to look at hubby and I can feel that egg getting invaded ha ha. I have always had alot of time for mums or dads of even one child because the responsibility is still the same regardless of numbers. You women are so brave.  December is going to be a busy month for all, but a really joyful one too.

jmac yah for you!! I am due 29th Nov, so could be Dec Mummy! I am having first scan next week which will be 7 1/2wks. My HCG at 6 weeks was 19000 just over. So think good? You can pay to go to diagnostic med lab and get HCG tests - about $15 I think. I am getting one every few days through fertility associates and also working with a natropath. She is great, instead of just your results are good or bad, she explains everything. I am on folic acid, Multimineral and vitamin, iron and thyadrin or something like that. All prescribed - 9 pills a day! Also I take Bach flowers to help with the anxious nervous wait and stress of is everything ok.
I think Na your levels are fine, fertility associates told me the HCG doubles every 24-48 hours. As for symptoms I have very little. Boobs fuller and a bit tingly at times, tummy cramped around 4weeks but nothing since. No nausea nothing. Just headaches. Boobs not sore, tummy sticking out, put on 2kg already! I really think every pregnancy is soo diff! STicky babes for all of us. Will keeping checking in to Dec babbies! x

Oh my Crazymum - do you mean this is your 10th pregnancy, or 10th baby? Wow - am in awe and not sure what to say except I think your username is very apt - you must be crazy busy all the time!

Hi Karen and Milo - Karen I think there are a few Dec mums here whose pregnancies have been a long time coming - I love hearing stories like that.

Na, glad to hear that the scan went well. I've got a 7 week scan booked for 20 April too.

Nothing much to report here, no morning sickness (yet). I occasionally feel a little queasy, sort of like when you've had that extra glass or two of wine the night before, not enough to give you a full on hangover, but enough that you feel slightly off colour. Last pregnancy I never got morning sickness bad enough to throw up, but the queasiness increased from around week 6, so am expecting the nausea to kick in after Easter! Still getting the odd cramp and boobs are slightly sensitive but that's about it.

Hi Febgirl, yep you got it CRAZY as thats me. This will be the 14th time I have been pregnant, I currently have 9 children and onto number 10, I never experienced the early symptoms of pregnancy only the tired thing that using kicked in around 7-8 weeks so really looking forward to that, it gives me an excuse to go and have a lie down while all the chaos is going on around me. I have been lucky with the first trimester woes. When I was pregnant with number one I went to the doc's with a boil complaint and came out with "congrats you are pregnant" So I really cannot relate to the vomitting and so on but I do sympathise with you all.

Hi Bree,
We are about a week or so apart as im 5 weeks. Yay! I havent seen anyone yet, i have my scan on the 23rd so looking forward to that, will get the official date then i guess but i think its approx 10th dec? you are lucky to have no major symptoms, i have had tiredness, really extremely sore boobs and a bit of nausea on and off, not too bad tho but i quite like it as it reminds me that its actually real. my tummy has been a bit achy tho - no cramps and the spotting has stopped which is great - must just be heaps going on in there!    have you sorted a midwife and antenatal classes yet? i was told to get onto them asap as they fill up and omg what a mission to get into anyone! seems wrong doing it so early but has to be done.
would be great to keep in touch with each others progress - my email addy is: janettem@xtra.co.nz

I'm due December 13 with my first. Its very exciting but also I don't want to talk to anyone IRL yet, so its a bit scary too!

Has anyone got their midwife organised? Do you think its ok to call them over the long weekend, or should we be waiting till Tuesday?

WOW, december is getting busy.

Congrats to everyone, hi t_rex, CONGRATS on your 1st one, its such an exciting but nerve racking time! I still remember finding out with my 1st like it was yesterday! It just didn't seem real as i didn't feel any different, it was only those weekly blood test that were confirming i WAS pregnant. I didn't actually feel any different until 20 weeks with my first one when i felt him move, then it was real to me.

I would probably wait till Tuesday to start calling around and from my personal experience, if you want a midwife in December start early! And meet a few, I had to go through 3 before I found someone that I 'clicked' with. She has been FANTASTIC and she has looked after me with both my kids and i am now seeing her for my 3rd.

Good Luck

CRAZYMum you are AMAZING, if you dont mind me asking how old are your kids. I would have 10 if hubby would but it was a stretch getting him to agree to go for #3, mind you ours are all ivf and the stress of that is a lot, not to mention the cost!

I am starting to get tired, but not sure if it is because I'm pregnant or work or both. So far the only symptoms I've got are incredibly sore & tender breast not enjoying removing my bra or sleeping atm but to be honest I'm so excited when they are still sore in the morning...go figure lol. And I'm getting a little nausea when I first wake up & if I have cereal so I'm just having toast

My partner is so excited he is already looking at names on the internet. CRAZYmum, good for you my partner is the youngest of 16 and has decided he only wants the amount of kids that can fit in the one vehicle, but we will see :)

I am going to contact a midwife in the next 2 weeks, but am thinking I will just go through the hospital.

Yay to all us december mummys, good luck & personally I hope it comes quickly!

Hi everyone, I'm going to be 5 week's pregnant tomorrow (I think!). My estimated due date is around 13th December.

This is my first pregnancy, and I'm a bit scared about the whole thing to be honest! It was planned and it happened very quickly - is it normal to have lots of blood tests? I have read about people having weekly bloods?

I went to doctor the day after I found out, and she seemed surprised to see me, like she wanted to know why I was there. Sent me for baseline bloods and said look for a midwife around 14 weeks! But then some people are looking already, and friends have said you need to look sooner?

Any advice? It feels weird to just get on with life and not DO anything!

Sorry - end of essay!

Hey Mischeif, you got it, gatherings are already hectic, hubby is from 14 me from 8. Yeah I tell the kids that when they grow up its gonna be great getting together with everyone.  We wnt to a family reunion on his side back in 2007 and every night there were about 50-60 people sitting down for dinner.

As for missing out I think I am the only one who does that, get to bed around 1:30 - 2am and up by 6am. Hubby swears black and blue hes the one hard done by ha ha.

Happy journey for all of us.
