Hi all.

I had a c-section just over four months ago and have recovered pretty well. My scar is healing well etc but I had previously noticed that when I scatched my tummy I had a little less feeling than normal. I thought it was just a matter of everything knitting back together.

Anyway today I did the test with an ice cube that they did before the c-section to check the epi was working.

Anyway I definitely have some lack of feeling in parts. Is it a matter of things still healing? Did anyone else experience a lack of feeling and how long did it take for things to go back to normal?

It doesn't hurt and if this is how it is going to be forever it isn't a big deal but I am interested to hear how others have recovered?

I had numb patches around my c-section scar for ages! I have no idea when they went away but they aren't there now. It's been just over two years since mine.

I am pretty sure I still had numb bits for up to about a year after my surgery. It feels kinda cool really.   I think it's just everything getting back to normal down there.

Yep I had numbness for ages, mostly right above the scar, even just over a year later its still a bit funny, but I have feeling there, just not as much feeling as before.

Mine was numb like that for a while too, I don't remember when it went back to normal but it's totally normal now no numbness at all.

We were talking about this at coffee group yesterday and two of the women have a large area of numbness still (17+ months later). One said you could prick her there and she wouldn't even feel it, it was that numb.

I had a feel of mine this morning and I think I can feel everything so it must vary quite a bit person to person.

Mine was numb for quite a while afterwards. The area around the scar used to feel so strange when I itched or touched it .

I remember asking this same Q on here a while back & was somewhat shocked when some people said you never get full feeling back . It sounds to me as if it differs from person to person a bit.

I just had a bit of a feel now (!) & mine is still a bit numb but is definitely better than what it was.

Mine still has patches of numbness and Leah is 2 yrs 9mo now!!! Is def better than when it first done....have to say I had to be careful when cooking as I would be leaning against the stove without realising and all of a sudden I would notice that my belly was really hot, but I hadn't felt it.

I had large areas of numbness after my first c-section, right up until I had my elective a month ago, thats 5.5 YEARS! I could pinch myself really hard and not feel a thing, now I have the opposite, the skin all around is way more sensitive than it was pre 1st c-section... which I find totally bizarre lol!

Thanks for all the replies

I am pleased to hear that this is pretty normal and not a reason for me to call '111' immediately.
