Of getting pg from *one* lovemaking session??

DF and I finally found time and inclination (after 2 previous interrupted attempts the last week, first by 6 year old, then by baby!)...and now it turns out I think I was ov at the time!  I took a couple of OPKs yesterday and the day before as I was getting really sore pains on my right side tha felt like ov, but I thought no surely not (as my first 'AF' after baby was born was only about 2 days long and hasn't appeared since). Anyway, Wednesday nights test was clear but not as dark as the control line so I thought nah negative cos the pains had stopped too.

DF and I then 'ahem' the next morning...and I took another OPK just to make sure I was right the day before...and lo it was darker!!! Grrr. Todays was light as so it would seem I have ov and BD (without meaning to) in the 'dangerous' timeframe' IYKMIM.

I'm still fully BF Clodagh although we have introduced a few solids lately...will this affect my ov?

Please tell me there's no way I coud get pg from a oncer, esp given it took nearly a year to get our wee girl. Much as I'd like another baby one day I'm not sure how I'd cope with 2 so close together...gulp.

TIA

nzpipers number 2 is from a oncer at a time when she didn't even think she had ov'd, hers was straight after a m/c.

But having said that loads of women do it for months on end at the exact right time and don't get knocked up.

Yep pretty sure nzpiper's wee boy is too (I remember a thread about it), as is LittleBug's wee Ollie.

it doesn't mean it happens to everyone though I guess what will be, will be. Good luck not stressing out about it for the next couple of weeks

Man,  would be SOOOO annoyed/worried/happy IYKWIM if I *was* pg...majorly stressed out about the close age gap but not having to go through another year ofTTC would be nice....oh well no point worrying about it I guess. Probably am not pg anyway. I just can't believe our timing....it's only the second time since Clodagh was born that we've erm, got busy! lol poor DF

Don't mean to hijack your thread but I am in exactly the same boat! My son is only 3 months old and I have this feeling I could be preg - but not due for period for another couple of days and my cycles surely couldn't be back to normal yet??
It took 4 years to make him so we thought the chances would be pretty slim - we weren't doing anything to prevent it. Never assume anything i suppose....
I have the same excited but mortified and terrified feelings.

Unless you are breastfeeding 4 hourly (day and night) it is not a reliable form of contraception and could be highly possible that you are pregnant. I knew someone who had 9 1/2 months inbetween babies. She calls them her Irish twins lol.

9 1/2 months between babies???   How is that even physically possible (I mean wanting sex after giving birth lol )?! Urgh that would be so hrd having two that age.

Oh well we shall wait and see. I think it would be bloody funny as well as bloody amazing if I were UTD. From a oncer!? Really? OMG.... *shudders and leaves the room*

oh...and Kelli, I am feeding pretty much 4 hourly (or more sometimes) still. So would that mean I can't get pg and that the OPK was wrong? Great

Even feeding 4 hourly you could get pg, I would think that if you have ov'd then you are would be able to get pg, have your periods already returned?

Mine came back a few days ago was enjoying not having them but i suppose this is what happens when your baby finally starts going a little longer between feeds at night

sammyd are you breastfeeding? I found when I got my pg back after having Spencer it was exactly a month after I stopped feeding and then it went straight into my normal 26-28 day cycle, not sure if breastfeeding when they return makes them irregular though.

Elias was definately a oncer (I recall, as I was so shattered from Isabelle the last thing on my mind was sex) - Isabelle if my dates were correct was on the first day DH arrived into the country (although we had lots of "oncers" that day, so that might not count)

Honestly that boy just needs to look at me sideways and im up the duff!

Yuo, definitely. My BIL is a reproductive hormone specialist so you'd think he'd (and my sister) know better than to think BF was a contraceptive ....

We have a number of accidental second children in my family. Fingers crossed we don't carry on the tradition!

Eeek, good luck to you! What will be will be (though it's rich for me to say from a distance!)

yup totally possible. i have known ppl that have got pg from messing around and not having sex during ovulation cos things cos a bit messy IYKWIM. as a general rule you have to BF at least every 4 hours around the clock with no other feeds and even then some ppl can still ovulate so you are not protected. and you can also ovulate before you even get your first period back so even that isnt a guarantee you'll know when your system kicks into gear again.

DS was creaed from a oppsy moment in fiji and that was a once off. Also if you are using BF for contraception there is certain things you have to do ie feed every so many hours day and night. I would not use BF as contraception for myself.

Answer to your question kelly - no......

So I've never fallen pg when i've been on the pill, or when we've used condoms.  They are the only contraceptives we've ever used.

We weren't using BF as a method of contraception at all...we were using abstinence haha which is the most effective against pg  But then yeah maybe a bad tv night or something and whoopsy!  oh well I shall let you know in about a week or so......

MILF = Mother I'd Like to F***

This thread cracks me up our method of contraception was 'withdrawal' which apparently isn't a method at all the fertility lady yelled at us!

I have to show DP this thread so he knows how lucky he is LOL he was getting 'special cuddles' 3-7 times a day from the time Jake was 7 weeks old he's just too yummy... Though the idea of accidently getting preggers again so quickly might just put me off this time round

Once (or twice) in the morning before work, one (or twice) after work (I'd greet him at the door and rip his clothes off LOL), then two or three times overnight. We're still pretty bad for it when I'm not pregnant - probably an average of 10 times a week hehehe *shame* its my slutty side coming through! ROFL bout my fufu Mel!! It seems to cope pretty well DP doesn't seem to have a problem and I can always get around him by hauling out the bad-ass sexy cop outfit I actually do that anyway LOL I think we each say no maybe once a month if that? LOL Babe, we're not as bad as you but I'm "up for it" as often as I can convince DP - he'll gladly have it once a night if he's in a good mood, nothing I can do to convince him that a second round is a good idea during the week. I have a week off a month, and we always have more special cuddles on the weekends - maybe 5 or 6 times? But he's banned at the moment (like two or three in the last two weeks) because he came home drunk and wanted some fun then we got halfway through and he started gagging and had to go throw up - I was not amused. He had to sleep on the couch that night.

But anyway, I've been watching this thread with great interest emmecat, when are you going to test and satisfy our curiousity?

lol funny you say that.....

Nah seriously I haven't tested today folks. DF is off to Sydney for work for 2 weeks, I'm a bit upset TBH

However I *did* test yesterday, which I figured would've been 10DPO at the MOST. So still too early and damn those evaporation lines not giving a decent result.... ..you'll all have to wait until tomorow (or maybe Wednesday). lol

LOL at this thread!!

I found out I was preg again after Chloe, when she was only 4 and a half months old! And that was only BDing 3-4 times, all using condoms. Ollie was definitely meant to be.

I could count on one hand the number of times that DH has gotten lucky in the last year. But half of those were just last week seems I have gotten my mojo back *finally* I haven't wanted to BD since I got pregnant with Chloe, until last week.

LOL, shall we just rename this this "TMI about sex lives" thread?!

Emmecat about DH going away.

Sigh, 1 or 2 more days to wait. Shall we start a competition on how many views this thread is going to get
