would be nice but can't see that ever happening - one week would be more affordable and more than most fathers can do now.

My dh takes annual leave for one or 2 weeks btu would be nice to get one week already paid for instead of saving annual leave up.

ETA: and even then I don't know if it worth it to us as Dh earns so much more than the PPL and we just couldn't go without that extra money we would be missing out on

I think a week paid is a great idea for Dads but in reality alot of males can't take a 4 week block of time off work anyway which makes it ineffective IMHO.

To be quite honest, I think there needs to be more ppl for mums before giving dads 4 weeks.... 16 weeks should be 20, then 24 eventually. How about using up some of your annual leave, fellas?

yeah i agree more for mothers - although I do think th e one week for fathers would not be a bad idea but NOT 4.

In the Uk I think its like 26 weeks PPL and thats full pay (or at least thats what my cousin got)

It's much more common in the UK for companies to have generous maternity pay packages, but statutory maternity pay is:

*For the first six weeks at 90 per cent of your average gross weekly earnings with no upper limit
*For the remaining 33 weeks at the lower of either the standard rate of £123.06, or 90 per cent of your average gross weekly earnings.

My DH gets 1 week paid (used to be 2). But thats a perk of being in the army (one of the very, very few lol). But it wouldn't have mattered too much if he didn't get it as he gets (on average) 5-6 weeks holidays a year (they get extra for being away from home etc).
