I have a CS booked in for a breech baby for the 11th March (12 sleeps!) and we have a wedding to go to (DPs cousin) in Omaru (hour-hour n half drive) on the 22nd (11 days after CS)....
basically just wondering if anyone has tips for travelling a long distance so soon after a CS.....? (and with new baby lol)
DP will be driving of course, and ive heard of using a pillow between scar area and seatbelt.... but any other tips and tricks?
TIA!!!

16 days...hmm well car trips are quite uncomfy post C Section, but after my C Section with Isabella(Elective) being in the car was uncomfy for the first week and then after that it wasnt too bad, and by weeks 3 I was sweet!
With Caden my oldest I had an emergency c section and driving and being in a car was sooo sore for about 3 or 4 weeks.
Just make sure you stop often so you can have a walk round and stretch, and before you leave, fill a hot water bottle, as heat really really helps when you are feeling sore, the hot water bottle was my best friend and also a pillow over the scar!

Yeah i would def be putting the pillow over the scar area, and would be a good idea to stop if you can even just for 5 mins, also i would lie the seat back a bit so you are not sitting up directly putting pressure on, if that makes sense.... i was back driving by week 3, but certainly not for that amount of time.
good luck for the c/s and the trip.

I travelled from Cambridge to Auckland 19 days post c-section with my oldest and I was fine. I put B and his capsule on the back drivers side so I didnt have to twist as much to check on him. Make sure you have everything you need in front with you, or sit in the back so you can tend to baby, get stuff out of bags as and when needed without moving around too much. Mine was a bit more difficult as I had a large abcess under the wound that decided to vent itself halfway up the Bombays, so we had to find an emergency medical centre that would be open on Xmas eve!
Oh and you'll need to have room to spread your legs a bit, so your tummy isnt being pushed up by the top of your legs. That can get quite painful after a while!

I to was driving a couple of weeks after my emergency section. I never found the sitting in the car or the seatbelt sore at all, I found it sore when I got out of the car from being sitting down to standing straight soreish, in which case I used to do it slowly, lol
all the best for the birth and a speedy recovery

I had to travel 1.5hrs to get home from hospital after my c sect, I went home on day 3. To be honest, I didn't even do anything to help it not hurt and I don't remember it hurting much except when we went over bumps (and the road home is crappo so lots of bumps). I sat in the backseat so i could watch bubs but he slept all the way anyway hehe.
I think I had a pillow in the back with me but mostly used it to rest my arms on...didn't even think about having anything between me and the seatbeat!

Well we made it to the wedding with no problems. and Riley was an angel! slept through the wedding and the reception (2 hours break between end of ceremony and start of reception so took him to the motel and fed him before going to the reception) and he loves being in the car. had heaps of "omg 16 days!" comments lol.
thanks for all your help!
