Okay, so after a bit of forum discussing, I have decided to start a thread for those of us going through IVF who want or need to lose kg's!!
I qualify for the public funded wait list in August 10, with likely ability to go through the programme in August 11 (with the funding etc). I'm figuring that to actually get on the wait list you need to be the right weight - so I actually really do need to get my act together and kick the flab!!
Here's a little background .... PCOS and subsequent insulin resistance, weight gain since early teens when went on meds for migraines and I 'blew out' literally (12kg weight gain in a couple of months) ..... always seemed to use it as an excuse for everything (i.e. no boyfriend, another chocolate bar won't matter as I'm already overweight) - just the usual!
Yesterday I ate some lollies and felt sick afterwards - my 'sign' to do something. I think after all my posts over the week I am ready to put my head down, follow my naturopath's guidance, and get fit and healthy. I was really pleased today when I went to buy a coffee and stopped myself from buying a big piggy cake!! Wahoo!!
Okay so I've procrastinated enough ..... I've just weighed in - eeeek!
Starting weight 94.7kg - phew said it out loud, the heaviest I've ever been (put 10kg on in last year - IVF just one contributor).
* First goal - 90kg to get on the waitlist.
* Second goal - 84.7kg (10kg loss)
* Ultimate goal - 80kg (realistic at this stage)
So gals (and any guys) help keep me going on my quest to achieve my goals, and feel free to join me so we can keep each other on track!
Thanks heaps in advance! Jo

Hey Jo
This is a fab idea. I had a lightbulb moment back at new years where the penny dropped for me that if I didn't do something about my weight then nobody else would And I was so sick of my clothes not fitting etc... so I began on the 28th December and Ive used WW online which has been fab, for me I need to record what I eat each day otherwise I have too many snacks. I weigh myself every day so I know how Im doing on a daily basis, but I weigh in and record online my weight every Monday.
Anyhow I started at 102.4kgs, goal is 80kgs, currently 93.1. Maybe tomorrow someone can make a list
But I have to say I feel so much better with the weight Ive already lost so I know after another 10kgs Im gunna feel fab!
Oh and Jo, I also can get on the publicly funded list this year but have to get down to 86kgs, so another 7kgs to go.
Who else wants to join us

You could probably get some support by joining in the weight loss thread in the general section.

HI lilfatty - thanks for that. A few of us have decided to keep it small, as there's quite a lot of motivation to get onto the public funded IVF waitlist. And I did find the weight loss thread amazingly overwhelming with all the people and the amazing weight loss they're doing!
My initial plan is to increase my water intake and find some interesting exercise - off to the new pool tomorrow to find out about aquajogging. Will keep you posted .....
Might make my weigh day on a Monday so I can't be slack in the weekend! So will do a weigh in on Monday.
Appy2 - you've done amazing so far - what an inspiration!! I too did WW online, but last year, and then I stopped when going through the IVF (bad idea in hindsight) .... I found it really good as well. With transfer planned for June (fingers crossed) - do I re-join for the motivation? But if positive they say you shouldn't do it if you're pregnant and then it would be shortlived - or is that just too hopeful .................
Rambling - sorry

Hey Jo, hows it going today?
So far Ive been good, we have just picked up our beast from the butchers so have taken some beautiful looking steak out, hmmmm I think a yummy salad to go with it. One thing I try to cut out is butter and also as little mayo as possible,oh and I try not to have potato very much and I use olive oil spray if frying things. Also use the WW french dressing on my salad, no points at all. Oh and imagining myself a size 12/14 is what also helps motivate me, I can't wait to fit those clothes again lol
I actually thought you could do WW pregnant and breastfeeding, when I was going to meetings our leader was UTD. I thought that you just get given more points to compensate. May have to go and have alook on their website to clarify that.
I guess for me WW really is about portion control and sensible eating, so I would have thought we could still do that when preggy, hope so anyhow.

hey guys
i've kinda given up on TTC #1 which has taken 4 years thus far. we will finally qualify for public funding IVF in February 2011 with procedure a year later 2012. we're unexplained infertility and scored 63 (so close!!) but have to wait 5 years.
My BMI is 27 (you need to be under 32 for IVF so i'm OK there) but 3 weeks ago I started at Curves gym. This in itself is amazing as i'd never stepped in one before. I'M LOVING IT!!! 30 minutes after work every day and in the first 2 weeks i've lost 1kg body fat and 1cm all over. I'm more alert, better sleep, feeling confident so anything else outside of this like weightloss or a miraculous conception will be an added bonus.
I'm 165cm and started at 80kg, my heaviest ever. YOU GO GIRLS!!!!

Hi guys- here I am, Tischler, thanks for getting this started.
I have put on about 15kg since I met my husband- damn being happy (haha) and some of that is IVF too.
I need to lose that and more, I am private funding but want to do it anyway. At the mo I am 98kg- phew there I said it too!! I so dont want to be this weight AND pregnant! So I figure with injections starting mid may I still have time to get moving coz I can still eat healthy when pregnant right!!
So how shall we do this- shall we just support each other?

Hey Hope1
I weigh in every Monday so if you want to do that then maybe later this arvo I will try to make a list, hmmm not very good at those. There is only us few so far but thats perfect as we can support each other daily
Im off at ten to my neices birthday morning tea, sooo arrrghhh CAKE!! Will definately have to have some but maybe a small piece and then l will have to find things to eat that are free lol
Have a lovely Saturday everyone. Oh and Hope1 I am in the middle of my injections at the mo, and am finding I can carry on with my weightloss at the same time, I try to keep focussed on being under 90kgs and then tell myself that I am waving goodbye to the 90's forever Then after that I will eye up 85kgs as my next goal, not sure how I will go if we are successful with this cycle of ivf, but I figure I will give it my best shot to still lose abit when we get our bfp, while still doing the healthy eating for a baby, iykwim.
Although I think it will be hard, when I have got UTD previously my appetite has increased massively lol so will have to watch that.

Welcome Anna123 - great to have you on board!
I'm thinking I should really re-do my goal weight to put 85kg (was my 2nd goal) as it's far more realistic to aim towards, and then a lot of us are needing to lose a really similar amount which is great. So after weigh in tomorrow, I'll change the list - or whoever does it next if you can it'd be great!
I've been really organised tonight and have planned out my breakfast (which I end up having when I get to work instead of having 5 mins to wolf it down in the morning) and my lunch for tomorrow - so that'll stop me picking .... feeling reasonably on-track!
Hope everyone else did well over the weekend!!

Well.. step one of my 'healthy eating' is to prepare meals!!! Thats my problem... fast food just because it is fast! Whereas if I have got it in the fridge to heat up... I'm fine. So have just made tuna pasta with a tomato sauce and 1T (thats tablespoon not tub haha) of cream cheese stirred through! haha Just had to have that lil bit for a teeny tiny bit of creaminess. And it will do a couple of lunches! Started netball this arvo.... sooooo unfit! Feel sorry for my team so a bit of incentive to excercise!

I wont fit the public funding unless I lose 30 plus kg UGH and before my 40th next year - so damn impossible really! we are private funding...
we did WW after DD born - i was sooo not ready to go but mum and DH were...I did the breasatfeeding one...and points were easy - actually i thought i was allowed too much. I did xenical a few years back and lost 29 kg in 9 months...and kept it off for ages....all back on - and more now! ugh! am tempted to go back on it....

Hi all!
Ok if I join in here?
We've been TTC #1 for 3 years now. I have PCOS and have only ovulated naturally once in the 3 years of trying (maybe ever?) which I think was resulting from losing 9kgs.
I went totally off track with all the excitement of ovulation and the TWW and have put on 700gms in that time as I didn't carry on with my exercise and good eating. But AF arrived last week so here I am again.
I don't want to say how much I weigh cos I am so embarassed by it, but as of today's weight I need to lose another 12.2kgs to be the right BMI for getting on the waiting list. I could probably get away with 10.2kgs cos the one's at my doctors weigh lighter than mine.
I REALLY want to lose the weight before we go to Australia in June but that's only 8 weeks away and I'm not sure if it's even do-able??
Is great to see this thread!

Hey Sara
Well done you on the 9kgs, that is awesome And of course you don't need to put your weight on the list if you don't want to, its whatever you feel comfortable with
Hi bombshell Wow that was an awesome weight loss on xenical, are you able to do that again? You are starting ivf soon a, so I guess xenical is off the list until after? Hopefully you will be utd so won't need to worry about it for a wee while. Although if you did the WW points at home like Im doing then it would be a start and you could do it whilst doing ivf like I am. Just a thought.
Nice to see some more joining us Still havent heard back from FAH with blood test results, lol, waiting waiting waiting...

Just thought I would check in and see how everyone's doing? Im not doing so great this week, several trips to Hamilton for scans means eating crap that I shouldn't be, but ahhhh well will just try and eat well for the next few days and see how I go

Checking in too!! Yep I've also had a pretty bad crappy eating week. Every good plan with taking breakfast to work .... once I got there (even early) I just got too busy to eat. Then the alarm mysterioulsy didn't go off yesterday morning .......
I tend to eat bad during the week and better during the weekend (when with DH). I work till 2.30 so often skip lunch then get bad stuff on the way home during the week .....
Like you anna123 I have got better so a step in the right direction.
We've also just got a Nintendo Wii - so I'm going to spend the weekend checking out the sports games and wii fit - just hopefully it might be my exercise source cos I know once that starts I'll be fine. My idea of aquajogging went out the window as they have lanes for that between 9 and 3 (just when I'm at work - grrr).
Anyway, looking forward but are not looking forward, to weigh in on Monday
Just think - every piece of chocolate we don't pick up to eat is another step in the right direction!
Take care!

Can I join in too?
I had been going to a weight loss nutritionist as was 99kgs in Aug and thought that I'd better help myself with this TTC business.
Got down to 89.4 until found out I was UTD and hence couldnt face my eating plan and now since my MC have been pigging out BIG time and have put on a few kgs (up to 93kgs).
Gosh why is it so EASY to put it on yet blimin hard to get off???
Anyway have been trying to go back to my 'plan' and so far am back to 91.3 but really need some motivation.
I find its the exercise that doesnt excite me and when I get home from work, SNACK time
I'm sure you girls will give me the push I need and keep me away from fast food and chocolate

I think I'll do the weekly weigh in with ya's, maybe just say how much I've lost rather than my new weight (still can't face it lol).

Hi all...great thread.
TTC 8 months and just found out my husband has a very low sperm count. If his next test comes back the same we will have to use IVF. However, I need to loose a lot of weight!
Currently (here I go): 131kgs. Sigh. This gives me a BMI of 45. So I need to loose almost 40kgs to qualify for govt IVF.
When I met my husband 6 years ago I was 80kg and a size 14. I am not sure I am ever going to get this low again but my goal is 90kgs. That puts me at a 31BMI. However, this will take years (and I dont want to weight that long) so we will be going private if we need IVF.
So:
Currently 131kgs (was 135kgs 6 weeks ago).
Goal: 90kgs
Target loss per week: 500gm - 1kg.
My tip of the week: Drag your friends out walking with you instead of coffee catch ups.
Sorry for the long post.

Hi everyone,
well I will start to put in my weight... loss!!! next monday I have stayed the same weight as my week wasn't too good, but starting at the gym this week and hope to get myself more motivated.
Just found out today that my sister is pregnant and am sooooo happy for them! But have just had a big cry to my hubby, its all a bit overwhelming for me being the older sister I just thought I would have a child first and they haven't even been trying (me... 5 years TTC)! First time I've been that upset but I'll get over it.. and I am really excited. So hoping this will give me EXTRA motivation.
Hope everyone is well!

Hi all, just did my weekly weigh - weight now 92kg! I'm quite excited about it but put it down to the increase in exercise (i.e. none to 30-60 mins on wii fit)!!! My dietary intake wasn't the greatest, but I know I can do it.
Anna123, I can understand where you're coming from. Currently about 6 of my facebook friends (who don't know we're desperately trying) have just announced they are pregnant via their status and that just guts me. I am very excited for them ... but ......
Welcome kiwikt! Fantastic on already losing 4kg - that's amazing
Every day is a new day - hang in there all! BTW in a nutritional book my naturopath gave me it suggests a drink of water with fresh squeezed lemon in it to kick start the metabolism AND 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil with 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar per day to aid weight loss!! Strange but true!

Great work tischler...it is amazing how much difference a little exercise makes.
Got my 45 minute walk with DH tonight - he needs to get fit too I have decided!
Anna123 - I feel your pain. It is hard not to be jealous, especially when you have been trying for so long, and others dont even have to think about it. I am the only one of my friends who has always wanted a large family - now the rest of them have kids and I am the one that is going to struggle. It sucks. So big hugs to you. I know it will happen one day.

Thanks for the support guys. I feel a bit irrational cause it is my sister... but everytime I think about it, it makes me sad. I've decided to redirect that energy into my weightloss... so have had an excellent day on that front!
Looking forward to next Mondays weigh in!

Hi guys, so much for my exercise ..... tore my calf muscle jogging on the spot with the wii last night. After hours Dr's, crutches, days off work, physio ..... no more exercise for 3 weeks (except stretches). How on earth am I going to keep up the weight loss if I can't exercise. So damn frustrated with myself, last time I started an exercise programme (biking) I strained my neck and have had to give up cycling all together - grrrrrrr.

tischler - what about water walking, or swimming. You could use a flotation belt and just let your legs drag behind as you use your arms.
I used to get injured a lot exercising - usually because I was pushing myself too hard too fast. Its easy to do because when you decide to loose weight you want it to happen straight away!
Unfortunately when you are injured it is almost impossible to loose weight. Although using crutches is a calorie burner, so if you watch what you eat really carefully you might be OK.
Hope this helps...hugs.

Hi girls
Tischler that is so frustrating. Maybe just to gentle exercises but watch your diet really carefully, so that at least your maintaining where you are, you never know you still might lose some
Well me I haven't hopped on the scales in a few days, I think with the over stimulation that my weight went up by a kg or so, so tried to stay off cause it depresses me. But back this last day or so into eating healthy. Garlic prawns with pine nuts on a salad tonight. Yummy cant wait.
Hmmm might go find our list and update it.

Mmmmm.... I like the sound of your dinner last night Appy2!
Sorry to hear that tischler... hope it heals well. Must be really disappointing!
I feel really good about my healthy eating so far (will weigh in on monday night, cause wasn't feeling too good about it at the start of the week). I've found my biggest problem is not being prepared... so when it came to the time... takeaways were so easy, so I have been making sure that I have the food in the cupboard & fridge to eliminate as many excuses as I can. I also have a book by Michelle Bridges (Australian Biggest Loser trainer) called Crunch time. Its got some good tips in there and from that I have stopped having carbs at night which I think will make a huge difference! Its quite inspirational if you ever have the chance to read it! Its got a "no excuses" vibe to it! Really good!
Hope everyone else is doing well! :)

Hi guys, just did a weigh in. Not as good as I hoped, but the lack of exercise with the dicky leg has not helped. It's getting better, hope to get back on the wii in a few days. I'm 92.5kg today, so put .5kg on oh well, more motivation to eat better!!

Did my weigh in yesterday and I have lost 1kg over two weeks. So I am on track for my 500gm a week at the moment.
DH just got his second sperm count tests back, and they are as bad as the first, so it looks like we will definately be having IVF...which makes the weight loss even more important.

However, I'm all geared up for a loss this week, am back on my wii and sweating like a during the workouts - so can only be good for me.
Hope you're all well and keeping positive - can we do it - YES WE CAN

Hi ladies
I hope you don't mind if I join you in here. I have been TTC # 2 for 15 months and had a miscarriage 6 months ago. We had our first appointment with a fertility specialist in March (we are privately funding it) and have had all the initial tests done which have all come back ok. We are waiting for one more cycle then going back to see the Dr in June where we will discuss further options. When we first saw him he did mention my weight so since then I have been sort of following WW and this last week after the disppointing arrival of AF again I have stepped things up a bit and am really focused on weight loss.
Sorry for the novel!! It feels good to talk about it and like some of you I was a bit overwhelmed by the weight loss thread in the general section. I feel differently about my weight loss this time.
I am 80.6 kgs and my first goal is a 5 kg loss.

Welcome Orca1 Great to have another friendly face on board. I hope your Dr steers you in the right direction when you see him in June. My specialist suggested I try to lose weight but didn't seem too perplexed about it - wonder if it's cos we are private paying?? He said less weight would definitely help the egg production but wasn't as much of a factor during transfer and 'baby on board' stuff. Interesting.
Anyway, I'm on the go with it, although had an extremely low and blah day yesterday so have probably damaged a whole lot of good work. Oh well, back on the horse again!!
Hope everyone else is well. Here's an updated list:

Hi everyone,
Well I have been a bit down in the last few weeks which for me = eating crap food and my weight unfortunately reflected that.
Went back up to 93 kg but I made a decision to get back on the horse (as tischler says) and joined up with a gym nearby home.
Been 3 times so far this week for 30 mins brisk walking on the treadmill and although I loathe gyms its helping me achieve weightloss.
Weighed myself this morning and down to 91.7kgs YAY!!!
Roll on goal of 85kgs !

Aaah, this is the thread I need!
Hi, I'm 37, have kids, but had a tubal ligation four years ago, then two months later met my now husband, who has no kids. So we're on the IVF path. My husband's sperm count is low so we're going to be doing ICSI.
At the moment the main thing holding us up is my weight. I was 77 kgs, but have lost about 5.5kgs and really need to lose about another 9.5kgs to get down to 62 kgs. My specialist says 65 would be okay, but 60ish would be best. I'm 157cm tall, and my BMI was over 30 but is now at least down to 28
We're paying privately so we want everything to be as right as it can be to give us the best chance.
I've been doing a lot of walking, which I usually really enjoy, and eating a low carb diet, cutting out sugar and most carbs altogether.
I do have cravings for a great big Big Mac at times, but so far I've been really disciplined.
Last week I started feeling a bit yuck and just stopped walking, and haven't been out since Thursday, so I really need to get my A into G this week and start up again. I've noticed that the weight loss has slowed down without that daily exercise.
Anyway, great to "meet" you all - it's neat to meet other people in the same boat, and hopefully we'll all achieve our goals!

Hi everyone. Hoping to join you. I'm not on IVF, (and hoping it doesn't come to that as we won't be able to afford it,) but I do have PCOS and need to lose some kgs to give my body the best chance possible.
I have an appointment with my specialist next week, and am hoping to get more of a plan of attack for my PCOS/Infertility. I know my weight will be brought up, and I haven't done anything since the last appointment so I'm a bit embarrassed.
I was thinking, the other day, about why I haven't done anything about my weight. I think a big part of it is fear. I'm scared that if I lose the weight and still can't conceive maybe I'm not meant to. That terrifies me more than most people can imagine (except maybe you guys).
So here I am. Hoping to get some support for both my weightloss and my fertility journey, and offer some in return.
At present I am floating around the 74kg mark. I will do a proper weigh in on Monday. I really need to sort my diet out, as it's terrible at the moment and probably my biggest hurdle. Thankfully my exercise should be okay. I started playing hockey this year, so that's at least an hour twice a week, plus DH just bought me a Wii for my birthday, and mum & dad got me the Wii Fit to go with it.
I hope everyone has had a good week and is geared up for the weekend!

I've not been actively trying to lose weight as I've been distracted, but I'm pleased to say I've been able to keep at the same weight from when I last weighed in a couple of weeks ago!
I promise to try to do better about being here to support you all - everyone is welcome. No matter what happens with my transfer I will still be on the healthy weight loss mission, just need to get my head clearer before I go full on again!!

Hi Ladies,
What an great topic, I lost 20kgs last year to get to my goal weight of 90kg (and have managed to keep it off), and we have just started out 1st round of IVF this month.
Been having some pretty yuck feelings though, bloated and glumpy finding it real hard to stay motivated, but trying to be positive, seen as it took us 2 years to get to this point.
Good luck to you all. x.

*Sigh* Specialist didn't have much new to add. Plan is metformin for 3 months, with day 21 blood tests each month. So it's counting days and waiting. Sadly, no sign of AF so I can't even start counting days yet!
This should be the time to get serious about my weight loss. I'm thinking about re-joining WW online. The first time I was on WW I was really good and disciplined and lost 8kgs quite easily, then ruined it all during a week away with a youth sports team. Couldn't find my way back onto the wagon after that. I ended up putting it all back on and then some! I know it works, so if I sign up again and just focus and stick to it, then I can get my weight to a point where it's no longer a barrier to fertility!
I've also started to realise how selfish I am being. My husband will make a great father, and he's starting to really want it now too. By not doing something about my weight I'm stopping him from achieving that. Doesn't seem right, does it?
Okay, so taking this seriously now! I'm currently 74.4kg. My weigh in day will be Tuesdays. And my goal for next Tuesday is to be under the 74kg mark. That's step one. There are 3 weeks left in June. Step number two is to be below 72kg by the end of June.
In 3 months time, when I go back to the specialist I will be 65kg or below!
(Also, when I reach 65kg, I've made a deal with DH that he will buy me an All Blacks jersey.)
Sorry for the bit of the rant. How is everybody doing?

Signed up to WW last week, and had my first weigh-in this morning - 73.3kg. So step one is a big tick and step 2 looks like a given, if I stay focused!
How is everybody else doing? This thread has been very quiet over the past week. Don't give up ladies. Don't forget what this is for!

Hi everyone... well, I'm going to get serious about my weightloss... I'm off to raro in 2 weeks and and when I get back I'm doing a "12 week body transformation". It's an online course run by Michelle Bridges who is the trainer from the Australian Biggest Loser, she gives you the tools to re-train your habits! Its a bit of a "get real, no excuses" program. Theres some info online, but I'm really excited... I have started my pre-season tasks... which is preparing your workout gear, kitchen, mindset etc. You have to identify all your excuses you use e.g. I'm too unfit, its too cold to excercise, I'm too tired, I'm too busy to eat healthy (those are just a few of mine) and you have to have a solution... because once there is a solution, there is no excuse! Part of the pre-season tasks is to tell the world you are going to "lose 10kgs" (as thats my goal), that way you have made a commitment to people and you are accountable to honour your word! So here it goes! NO EXCUSES!! :)
Hope I haven't bombarded anyone with this lol, I'm just really excited bout it, I feel like I finally have the tools I need!!! Hope you all have something thats inspiring to you on this journey as well! Talk soon

Anyway, on Monday (or before) I'll know where I'm at, but for now I'm ticking along. On Tuesday no matter what, I'm right up there with you guys finding a new plan to kick this weight off!!

Wow, Anna, that sounds really exciting! You'll have to give us regular reports on how your doing, and how your liking the plan.
I'm quite a big fan of Jillian Michaels (the american biggest loser trainer), I have her 30 day shred DVD, and man that thing kicks my a$$! It's a 20min workout and when I'm done I'm more knackered than after a full game of hockey! I love it.
Tischler, my fingers are crossed for your 2WW, I really hope you have some good news by Monday!!! And if not, I'm looking forward to losing weight together. You're right, WE CAN DO IT!!!
In other related weightloss news, I signed up to do the Tough Gal challenge. ARGH! 6km through mud and streams, under cargo nets, all sorts. Yikes! My sister did it last year and had an awesome time, and at the end of it you get a free beer, a shower and all the hot soup you can eat. I'm actually kind of excited about it.
No news on the fertility front for me. Still waiting for AF to show so I can work out if I actually have a cycle or not.
Keep at it girls!

So I may just order them and hope they can play in my DVD player! I hear it is awesome! I will def keep everyone updated!

I've got a WiiFit too tischler. I feel sorry for my fat little Mii! LOL. Especially when you do the body test and the scale goes up and your Mii goes from being super thin to a fatty! I conveniently forget that it's a reflection of the real me.
For me, losing weight falls heavily on my diet. Exercise helps, but if I don't have the diet sorted I'm not going to get far. I suggest you find a plan you are confident you can stick to and stay with it for as long as it takes. (WW works from me.) I also started playing hockey because I knew if I made a commitment to a team it would keep me going every week (more so than the need to exercise).

good luck ladies with your weight loss.
I started my "healthy eating & exercise" in october last year and have gone from being 93kg at my heaviest to 65kg. I am now trying to maintain this.
I do have a rather large sweet tooth which gets the better of me.
I used a nutrionist in based in wellington, who gave me a meal plan and exercises based on things i had at home - eg walking and using my Wii.
I know its not the easiest thing to do, espcially when ur DH/DF eats what they want. (I used to catch my DF hiding in the bedroom pigging out on chocolate).
Anyway good luck and if i can offer any tips or support let me know.

Wow, Rach! Congratulations! That's fantastic! What an inspiration.
I had my weigh-in this morning - 71.9kg! Yay! Which means I have lost 1.4kg this week and reached my end of June goal which was to be below 72kg (with a week to spare).
My next goal is to be under 70kg, which I want to do by 6 July. Then by the end of July I want to have reached my 10% goal of 67kg.
These goals are ever so slightly ambitious, but I really want to be below 65kg by my next specialist appointment. Which will be some time in August or Sept.
Wish me luck!

Hello,
I am trying to loose 7kg ready for my next round(3rd) in Sept but I keep sabotaging myself Yesterday at work we had a bake off for charity and I couldn't resist! Anyway off to boot camp soon.
I haven't posted in the infertility forum before... as a bit of background I have had 2 IVF rounds. Second resulting in DS who is just over 1. We will be going private next time so I need to do everything I can to make it work as we don't have unlimited funds..
Take care everyone.

Hi Snooze! Welcome.
What I'm working on at the moment, is every time I think about a chocolate bar, or ice cream, or whatever it happens to be at the time, I ask myself - do I really want this more than a baby? The answer is no, and it reminds me why I'm doing this and what my priorities should be.
I've got another 7kg to reach my first goal of 65kg. Lets do this together!

Good idea, I like that! I am also trying to think you only get one boby so be nice to it.
Since I posted last I had two parties and were not good at them. But I seem to have my head together now. Ate well yesterday and did a 6.5km walk after work.
Once I see some results I will be more and more motivated I am sure!

Hi guys, well ... unfortunately I'm back here, not pregnant, but keen to kick some butt and lose kg's!!
I thought I'd get back on track on Monday, but I didn't. Thought I'd get back on track today, but I didn't. So ..... am aiming to make a few small changes over the next few days, with the ultimate aim of weighing in on Monday next week and starting hard out.
So I'll be right up there egging you all on, and hoping you'll do the same to me. Was going to rejoin WW online ... DH isn't too keen on me doing so. Thinks I could do it myself. Which I possibly could, although the PCOS makes it hard ... I feel it would be good to have WW so that I have some external motivation and something to be accountable for - any suggestions on how to encourage him to let me spend the $??
Welcome to you newbie's - so great to have you here.

Snooze - good on you for getting out there and doing that walk, wish I could still go for a walk when i get home - I just have to settle for using my Wii as it is to dark when i get home now to go for a walk

Poos.. just wrote a big post and lost it.. anyway I loved Zumba, mainly cause I love dancing and used to do Salsa .. a bit similar in parts. I think each week would get easier as even though she doesn't show you what to do she repeats it each week apparently.
Planning to walk tommorow morning.
Swim went pretty well, although I do have a mental block with swimming as I find it so hard... my brain keeps telling me to get out!

swimming is pretty hard - I did one of those water woggle classes - it was really funny but have never been back as our pool here isn't the nicest. I miss my walking at night but do go for long walks in the weekend.
Can't wait for it to warm up a bit

Hi Ladies,
You all sound like you are doing a great job.
I too need to loose some weight, we have taken a break from IVF since it didnt work in March and will be trying again in October so thought it couldnt hurt to lose a few kgs.
I found this website helpful also, it has some great reading:
www.weight-loss.co.nz
I have now shifted the treadmill into the lounge & have joined a social netball team so have no reason not to excercise.
My work has started a competition this winter kind of like the biggest looser on TV. 1st June we were all weighed in and given a fat test, all of our results have been kept secret from us and all staff only the nutritionist knows. We also had a nutritionist come in and explain about different foods like:
Carbs - Bread, rice, potatoes, pasta etc
60 - 90 minutes after a meal carbs are turned into sugar and then fat.
Protein - Eggs, steak, fish, yoghurt, chicken etc
3-5 hours after a meal it turns into sugar then fat.
Fruit - 60-90 minutes after eating it gets turned into sugar.
Excercise will only burn fat once you keep going over 30 mins.
Do weights first before you do cardio.
You only need to be excercising at 60-70% of capacity.
Some of the things he said contridicted what I have been told in the past by other nutritionists though.
On the 1st October we get weighed in and our General Manager has put up $500.00 for first prize which is a great, espically when I tend to do nothing over winter cause its so cold down here.

Thanks Laniw for the info. Very interesting! I know that dropping carbs is a sure fire way of loosing weight, shame I love them so much!
Not such a good day today. Monring tea at work and because I was awake from 2.30am till 5.00am with DS grizling I was pretty tired. I am useless at eating well when i am tired. Another day tommorow.
I have a swim and bootcamp planned for the weekend. I have bought a medicine ball to mix it up a bit. Should be good!
Oh, I also bought a pilates DVD for when I can't get out of the house. Done it once so far (only got it yesterday) and I quite enjoyed it.
I have a joint 1st birthday for the coffee groups girls tommorow. I must be good!!

Good Morning ladies,
Hows everyone doing? I have just finished my 1st round of IVF with a BFN, so I now need to get back onto my weightloss goals. I have put 4 kgs on while doing the round of IVF dam it all.
I lost 24kgs last year. So my 1st goal is going to be 7 kgs to get me back to where I was at the end of last year.
Need to get my body right and ready for frozen embryo transfer in a couple of months.
Just weighed myself 97,4kg. Got a pretty big shock, so not happy with myself.
This weeke is a hard week to get started as I am going away for a week, but its important that I start and do the best I can.

Hi guys, just checking in. I've been AWOL as my MIL passed away (finally peacefully) and we've been up at her funeral. I also have had and anticipate the week from hell with school holidays and trying to keep the step-kids busy so we are away on a break again Wed-Sun - will be eating more crappily. Ahhhh. Anyway, I'll touch base next week when things are a bit more 'normal'.
Rosiefarmer - oh my gosh I'm soooo sorry to hear your news. Did you get any frozens - I can't remember. I hope you have a great week away from the farm - good idea. Is DH going with you or does he have to stay and run the property? I hope you're both giving each other lotsa support as you need it during this crap time. Hang in there - thinking of you!
Hi to everyone else, once I get back on board shall we instigate the weekly weigh in session again??
We can do it!!!

BTW Rosiefarmer - don't worry about the 4kg you put on. I put on 5kg with each of my two cycles - so you've done better than me if it's any consolation at all IYKWIM

Hi Guys,
So sorry to hear Rosiefarmer, thinking of you.
Well done though on loosing 24 kgs last year that is huge. I put on approx 5-7 kgs on each 2 cycles.
Well I havent been too bad over the weekend, took the dog for a big walk, done a little bit on the treadmill and some Tae Bo boxing. Have been eating resonably healthy except the odd bit of chocolate (it keeps me sain).
We are going to be doing our next cycle in October but have decided not to tell anyone as the pressure from family & friends has been huge. Everybody knows that we were going to be trying in October but DH a I have now backtracked and said we are not going to try till after Christmas, they all seemed dissapointed but understood. What a surprise Christmas present if it works.

Fingers crossed Lani! That would be an awesome Xmas pressie!!!
I've got myself down to 72kg, but am having trouble getting past there. I wish I could say it was because I've plateaued, but I've just been lazy. Need to ban myself from all forms of fast food! That's my downfall I think.
DH and I adopted a puppy from the SPCA last weekend, so I got a little bit of exercise taking her for walks over the weekend. Hopefully I keep it up as I can get very lazy on the weekends.
On the TTC front. (For all those that have joined us, I'm not on the IVF track just yet, but I do have PCOS and am currently on Metformin.) Had my day 21 BT on Saturday. Will find out on Wed arvo if I have ovulated or not. FX.
7kg to go to reach my 65kg goal. Time to get this party started!!!
Good luck everyone!

Hey Tischler - so sorry to hear about your MIL. RIP.
Yes we got one frozen embryo. , got my fingers crossed for this wee mircale.
DH is staying home - think he needs some time by himself to be honest, he is a awesome rock and has been great support for me. I brought his a cuddly monkey yesterday and gave him a thank you card for been such a awesome guy.
We/I did my crying on the Thursday before my bloodtest. So I am feeling not too bad
Lani I am with you in not telling anyone next time, geez it was so hard telling family it didnt work, specially DH's mum, she was so sad for us.
And my SIL almost sounded disappointed that I wasnt bawling my eyes out when she rang me on Saturday to see how I was feeling. My philosphy - if it was meant to be it would of worked. Well that makes me feel better. As hard as it is to cope with not working, you got to get back up there and be ready for your next step - gawd I been ttc for 14 years - think I got a wee bit more paitence in me yet. .
Tischler hope the rest ofthe holidays go alright for you. I just had my 16 yr old down last week, he went home yesterday, he was a great help and when I told him that I didnt get pregnant this time he said "ohhh mum so sorry," and when I dropped him at the bus stop yesterday he gave me a awesome hug and said "I love you mum", I managed to hold back the tears till I got to the car - he hassles me when he sees me cry.
Sun is shinning down here today - and I am stuck inside waiting for my BF to visit with her 18month old twins. - just wish they were mine.

Sorry to hear about your result rosiefarmer.
Lani I am also with you on not telling people. Unfortunalty my MIL and mum are helping us out financially in Sept so they will know about it. But managing other peoples expectations as well as you own is really hard. I remember my first two BFN (1 fresh, 1 frozen) mum was ringing all of the time and she could tell by my voice whenever I got results without me needing to say anything to her.
Anyways I have been excellent on the exercise front think Zumba, Bootcamp, Bike riding, Walks etc.. but I still weigh the same but clothes are fitting better oh well. Must be the food, I read somewhere that results are 70% food, 30% exercise.
I am still aiming to get to 73kgs by Sept (I am now 79.5kg). My doctor said between 70-75 for my height (176cm).
Enjoy the sunshine everyone
