Tania I saw a thing on the tv this morning about not over sterilizing them as that can cause them to come apart quicker.

I saw it too and I wonder if the dummy was checked for wear before giving it to bubs as well. Esme never really took to a dummy but I check her bottle teats before I give them to her even when they are brand new. I would have thought you should do that with a dummy too.

Haven't read article yet but you are supposed to replace every 6 months & check before each time you give to baby.

That is scary. I always pull them to make sure they are firmly fixed.

Woah - a 2 week old dummy . You're meant to replace them every 3 months it says in the handouts for the avent ones.

My third child was a "dummy baby" & we never had one come apart! She used them til she was three. I saw the lady showing the dummy on the news & tbh it looked pretty cheap & nasty, one of those brown rubbery things.

I wont use cheap dummies, and I check them often to make sure they are still all good.

Thats a freak accident really and it shouldnt put people off using them, if anything it should remind people to check them, give the teat a tug to make sure its attached properly.

Scary for the mother though!
