Today DS1 was kissing DS2 and afterwards I noticed the lower half of his mouth come out in hives, DS1 had just been eating a peanut butter sandwich. I just put a small amount of peanut butter on DS2 cheek and it came out in a hive, so I am fairly certain that he is reacting to peanuts. My question is what do I do now? Do I just avoid peanuts and see what happens in the future? Or should I get him allergy tested? Also I'm still BFing him, should I avoid peanuts myself, or should I still eat them in the hope I can pass on some antibodies?
DS1 has a similar reaction to Cashews and I have been told that I don't need to do anything, just to avoid them.

DS recently had an allergy skin prick test which showed he is allergic to peanuts amongst other things. We had to get referred by a paed, but maybe your GP can refer you? Then atleast you will know what he is allergic to. YOu should probably avoid them too. I was told to avoid all the things DS is allergic to - wheat, dairy, eggs and peanuts - what a mission!

just stay away from them my DS2 had a mild reaction at a year old and we jsut don't have them or peanut butter in the house he can eat thing's that may contain traces of nuts but not actual nut products it pretty easy to avoid. amd now mikey is 4 he knows to say no to peanuts.

Yeah I'm in the avoid them camp which is what we do with DS1 and his cashews, but because DS2 has pretty bad eczema, I think I'm going to get him tested (probably the naturopath way) just to figure out what makes it flare up, I'm hopeing this will be something he will eventually grow out of.
