My gorgeous baby has turned into a screaming machine! He is our third and was a breeze for the first four months of life. I assumed that we had missed out on the colic and reflux thing that we experienced with the first two. He was a bit clingy and crying around teething time but still a sunny little chap.
He is one at the end of this week. Over the past 4-5 weeks he has started to make that horrible gulpy sound that reflux babies make. He screams when i put him into bed and wakes during the night with a murderous scream. He clings to me all day and i cant take a step without him crying out and he wants to climb and scratch at me for large periods of the day. I already have a high maintenace two year old and not sure where to from here? Has anyone heard of a child developing reflux like this? I know babies grow out of reflux but have never heard of a baby growing into it!
Thanks

It could possibly be a food intolerance. Have you started any new foods in the past couple of months or increased the quantity of any? Has he just started drinking cows milk?
My DD's reflux has got worse as she got older and is triggered by food. We get the same screaming in the night and are waiting for a gastroscope at the moment.
It may be worth while going back to what he was eating a couple of months ago and see if it settles down again, then keep a food diary while reintroducing foods.

I have a 20 month old who has reflux. He wasn't put on medications until he was 11 months old. Before that I wasn't super aware of reflux episodes except his really strange thing of going blue! He was treated for broncolitis, asthma, heart issues until I stumbled across a reflux site that stated that his reactions/symptoms could be to do with reflux!
He also has some pretty strong food intolerances, both reflux & skin related. He's on a pretty minimal diet & neocate.
I've just taken him off omeprazol & am using infant gaviscon at the moment but he's started waking more in the night so am thinking he's still go pretty severe reflux.
Has anyone taken their reflux toddler off PPI's & how long til they needed to take them again? It's been a week since I've had him off it. I have the paed on monday which is why I trialed him off it.
Jodz, if it's recent, maybe it's food or maybe something else. Look at this http://www.reflux.org.au/risasite/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=6:when-to-seek-medical-advice&catid=1:article-text - Reflux org and see if you notice anything that has been going on with him for a while. My boy started waking every two hours, I think it was to do with food? He also went through a period of fear of foods as well. He recognised that food was hurting him. He also sat very early. Have you raised her cot up?
