Just a warning this will be TMI for some!

Normally AF is about 5-7days, 1 or 2 days heavy then 2 or 3 days medium and then spotting sometimes for up to 3 days. Last month i had 1 heavy day then 1 day of medium and 2 days of spotting so all up 4days. I wasnt worry about it because i was having an op (getting my wisedom teeth out) so was glad AF was over. this month i got AF on friday had a light day then yesterday was medium and today is really light spotting so im guessing this month is only going to be 3 or 4 days total

Should i be worried? what could be causing this? AF normally always follow the same pattern and this has never happened before

hey H, I am the same but every time I get a period, mine are always 3-4 days MAX. Day 1 medium, Day 2 light, Day 3 light/spotting. I dont know what light periods mean but I have only ever had light ones, never really heavy ones.
Would be good to know if it means anything though.

H don't know if this will make you feel better but I do hope so........ My AF used to alway be the 5-7 days too made up pretty much how yours were with the 1-2 Heavy, 3 med, and a few days spotting. Since I have been seeing a naturopath they have shortened down heaps I think the last was 1 heavy 1 med, 1 light and the a couple of spotting days. I was worried about this too and asked my naturopath about it and she was quite happy with that. Oh and I also used to get quite alot of clots but that stopped too and she was very happy about that.
Anyway so what I'm trying (In a very long winded way sorry) to say is it is more than likely nothing to worry about. Oh and are you on any herbs (i.e. vitex) as that could be a reason why AF is shorter but again probably not a bad thing.

Hi guys, I found an awesome website today - google 'infertility blog'.

It's a blog done by an infertility specialist from New York - I'm still reading through it but it is FANTASTIC and has answered all my questions, and some that I never knew i had!!!!

Anyway, it did mention a person who asked about this exact thing..... having longer periods and then for no reason having them shortened to around 3-4 days all up.... and his reply was that that is fine and actually quite normal... the only reason to be worried is if it happens the other way... ie having 'normal' periods, and then them becoming longer and heavier. But shorter and lighter is A OK apparently. Hope this helps and check out the blogspot!!!!
