Hi ladies and congrats to you all.  I hope I can join you here soon

Babynumberone, when I was UTD with DS I got period type cramps up until about 6 weeks (or it could have been slightly longer).  My mw told me it was just my uterus stretching etc, so all fine.  But if you're really worried defo see your mw.

will try and get onto that tomorrow.

babynumberone period cramps are totally normal, i had cramps until i was 8 weeks pregnant (when i tested and found out I was preg) i didn't test before then because i was so sure AF was coming

I think you will have to organise you own midwife, the midwives at the hospital are lovely xx

Hi everyone :) I am expecting baby #3 on nov 5th which also happens to be DH's birthday. This baby was not in 'the plan' but I am very excited but also very scared as I get really bad hyperemesis. I am actually in the second year of my midwifery degree so this is going to be an interesting year for me I have my midwife sorted as i am trying for a vaginal birth after two caesareans so wanted someone who I knew was happy and had the ability to facilitate that.

If anyone reads this who knows me i would really appreciate it if you keep this news to yourself for awhile. Would just like to get a week or two further dwon the track and still have some important peopke to tell first. Thanks!!!

Babysurprise - It must be a scary time for you. Either contact your midwife or GP to get a blood test to test your HCG levels which will be able to say if your pregnant. Hope your staying!
Sticky vibes to everyone!

Knock Knock ...may I come in?

We're five weeks pregnant due 8-Nov-11 (having TTC for over three years) so we're on quite a buzz about it :-)

Fresh off the boat in New Zealand from the UK...with hubby who is the resident kiwi with a big fat smile on his face now that he's home :-) So this mum-to-be will be seeking a lot of advice and steer as I navigate my way around a first pregnancy in a new country!

I was going to wait a little longer but I may as well as Hi. I am 4w3d pg with #3! EDD 10 Nov We have told the parents, my brothers and their other halves and 1 of our friends. It is pretty early to be telling lots of people I suppose but then DH is shocking at keeping baby news a secret and his workmates will all know by smoko on Monday!

This time we told my parents with a tshirt I have printed this morning, it says "2+1=middle child". We told them about Ben by Jack wearing a cap that said "Big Brother". We told them about Jack with bibs that said "That's it I am going to Grandmas/Grandads"

Feeling pretty good at the moment although I hit a wall at around lunchtime and feel shattered and it takes me a good few hours to get going again.

Contacted my mw yesterday, lucky I did as she is on holiday now until the end of March, then she is on holiday for the month before my due date! But I really want her again so I will just keep my legs crossed and hope this baby is late. Got a dating scan booked for a few weeks time though as I am not 100% confident in my dates

Babysurprise have you used the same brand tests each time? Done the tests first thing in the morning? A friend warned me off a cheaper test that our local chemist sells, she said even when she was 6mths pg it still came up as BFN. Good luck

Hello All!!

Very excited to be here. 4 weeks pregnant with my first. DH required 3 HPT's before he was a true believer, but we're both super happy. I have my first appt with my GP on Monday and really looking forward to finding out what's next.

I too am having cramping and yes, it freaks me out too! I'm happy to see everyone's confidence that this is normal. And why shouldn't it be? My uterus is GROWING! YAY!

BTW it took us 3 months to conceive. I'm curious how other people did...

Umm with my first I didnt even get a post pill period, with this one it only took a oncer with no contraception Really feel for those who do have a tough time falling pregnant but does make it so exciting when you do!
To annoy you guys even more I didnt get any pregnancy symptoms with my first except for eating a lot lol. I dont get the ms, sore boobs, tiredness etc does make it hard to believe I am pregnant though. This pregnancy could be entirely different, but no symptoms whats so ever yet.

Wow. This group is getting busy already.

JennyL - 13th Nov would be right. I am 5 weeks, 1 day and due the 5th.

Definitely get a mw sorted Dixie. It is hard to get the one you want. Some are booked for November already!

I am really not coping with the thought of hyperemesis again. I scares me to tears and it was one reason we weren't going to have anymore children.

Wow BFP's coming thick and fast now! Congrats to everyone!

I've only told my best mate and my coffee group girls (who are Ohbaby girls lol) but will tell my mum and DH's mum next week or so. I think my mum had her suspcions today though when we had a baby shower for a friend and she asked if I wanted a glass of bubbly lol. I don't usually drink anyway but she gave me an odd look.

Will organise MW soon but know shes away for the next 10 days so will have to wait till then, might send her a text and see if she answers just in case.

No MS but starting to gag a little in the mornings which is usually my sign for Im pregnant lol.

Hi all

Im pretty new here but have been using the forum for some first hand information.

Just found out after a year of trying that I am pregnant!
Due 05/11/11. Me and alot of the people I know are born in November and my wedding anniversary is 31st oct so could be
interesting. Still a little shocked but excited too. First time posting hopefully I didnt mess it up.

Hi guys!! First time poster here too and am roughly 5 weeks preg. M/c in Sept last year so pretty (make that very!) nervous about this one!! Started out with v sore boobs but that's eased off now which makes me worry a lot! HAven't felt hungry either - actually feel the opposite, feel bloated and full. Is this normal or is it a bad sign? Am kind of thinking the worst :-( Went to doc on Friday but found him very discouraging to be honest. He organised bloods for me but told me not to go until later this week - but I want to know NOW lol!!! I feel like i want daily hcgs just to check the levels are rising!

Aww bobo hang in there, some doctors aren't very understanding aye! the time after a m/c is so nerve racking but remember that the liklyhood of you m/cing again is no more than someone who hasn't ever m/ced. Pregnancy syptoms come and go, with my little girl I didn't even get any symptoms till 7 weeks.

Good luck for the hcg's, though waiting for the answers from them is pretty hard!

Eeek! I might be moving over to the October posts! Met with my doc this morning who said based on when I started symptoms (immediately) and my LMP (early and strange)I might actually be 8 weeks pregnant! I really hope I am, because it will shave off an entire month of waiting!!!

I'm due for an ultrasound in 2 weeks so I'll know then!

Hi ladies! I am expecting bub #2 and my due date is 11/11/11! I do realise that only 4% of babies actually arrive on their due date, so not holding out much hope!

My son was also born in November. It's a lovely time of year to have a baby... no frosty nights when you are feeding in the early hours.

No real symptoms yet, although it's early days. Just feeling a bit tired, but that's not unusual with a 15 month old to run after all day. I didn't have any morning sickness with my first pregnancy at all, so fingers crossed I get a similar experience this time! For the first time Mum To Be's on here, I hope you get to enjoy your pregnancy, because it's a lovely time. Try not to be too hung up on hormone levels or every little twinge. A relaxed and chilled out Mum goes a long way in producing a relaxed and chilled out bub, and that is definitely what you want! All the girls in my coffee group who stress about everything, have highly stressed kids. Honest!

JennyL I am wondering more and more if I will be moving to the Oct thread as well. Spoke to Mum today about me having a dating scan next Thurs and she wa saying that Dad had actually wondered a few weeks ago if I was pg , plus some of my symptoms have been going longer than a few weeks and at the moment I am assuming I am 4w5d. Will have to wait and see with the scan

Linzy: I'm having my scan in 2 week because then I'll either be 6 weeks or 10 weeks and the doc said you couldn't see anything until 6 weeks. So, maybe you want to wait a week or so too.

I'll be stoked if I move to October!

Had my first MW appointment today, same one I had with DD. Have to be referred to obsetritians because of having had pre eclampsia, c- section, and high BMI
Not sure whether I will have a dating scan as am sure of my dates, I know everyone would be saying how can you not want to see the little bean, but I think I can wait until my 12 week scan. How many are having dating scans?

Hi bobo1, my breasts were really sore too for about 4 days. It stopped yesterday and am 4 wks and 2 days today. I imagine it must be very stressful for you though. What's your due date?

My Dr gave me a referral for a dating scan so I figured that was just what you do. Didn't give any particular reason why I need it. However, she also said its too early to find a MW but I'm going to sort one out anyway so I don't miss out! It's hard when you have no idea what is meant to happen and just have to go with the flow.
Starting to feel sick now but have to keep telling myself its a good thing!

Oh I hope I don't get sick. I am trying to keep it secret from my work for at least 12 weeks. Everyone will be very suspect if I am regularly ill. When does it usually kick in?

I'm going to the doctor for my first visit tomorrow as I have a thyroid problem that I think will need monitoring.

Thanks squizzy - I am due around 6th Nov I think, although that's kind of guess work!! LMP was 30 Jan, but I'm sure I ov'd on 11/12 Feb. So am roughly 5 weeks and a couple of days I think??

Have just had my bloods done so can't wait to find out the results, don't like all of this not knowing!!!

Hi everyone. Nothing too much to report here. Getting some waves of nausea which I can quite happily deal with. Crossing my fingers that they don't progress to hyperemesis this time round. Tried to do a night shift in neonates last night a failed miserably lol. Was struggling to stay awake as it is so warm and dark in there. So I gave up and the nurse I was with was happy for me to head home. I have been feeling so tired so am going to switch my night placements to day. Appetite comes and goes. Feel bloated which i know is normal. Boobs are taking on a lifeforce of their own!

I am not going to have a dating scan or bloods. I know my LMP and want to scan as little as possible. I have done 2 HPT's so with the missed period and syptoms added in I am pretty confident i am pregnant lol.

Hope everyone is doing well and no-one is feeling too icky yet!

I am the same, when I have the scan next Thurs I will either be 6wks or 10wks (well maybe about 9.5wks). You are unlikely to see a heartbeat yet before 6wks but you will see the sack etc

I am only have a dating scan with this pg as I am unsure of dates. With Jack and Ben I was certain about dates, waited for the 20wk with Jack but got a 12wk with Ben. This pg will just be next weeks scan and then the 20wk, don't want a nucal fold done

Dixie - completely ignore your GP and find a mw now, they all seem to book up really fast, especially in AKL. And if you want to have a look around you need time. My GP (retired now) was lovely when I was pg with Jack but out of touch with how things are re mws etc, and from other threads/posts I have seen many GPs seem out of touch with how busy mws are.

Not feeling sick at all which is strange for me. Feeling good the last few days as well. Last week I was hitting a wall at noon and shattered for the rest of the day, but that seems to have passed

ick... the nausea is progressing but am hoping it will not go the full hog. Am ok now that I have food in ma belly but had the 'oh my god i'm going to spew' moment this morning. Can totally deal with it at the moment so not going to rush off and get accupuncture or anything yet.

Dixie - a lot of midwives get booked early now because the new screening tests mean midwives need to see women earlier, Particularly us oldies

Aw Katte, I really hope you don't get as sick as last time!

I haven't booked a MW yet but thats cos she is away so hoping she isnt booked up for November already! Will wait till she gets back in 5 or so days.

DH thinks that we should just wait till 12 weeks to have our first scan as then we have more of a chance in having a healthy baby there to stay rather than get an early scan at 7-8 weeks and then find out things go pear shaped after that. Im really not sure what I want as I don't want to get to 12 weeks and find out there's nothing there or had a missed m/c or something and I could have found out at 7-8 weeks. Really unsure what to do.... what would you guys do?

Thanks ladies.... just relax. Will do my best. Went to the doc today for my thyroid blood tests. She made me feel really relaxed, she reminded me that pregnancy is a natural healthy state to be in, and not a disease that needs to be treated. She said I won't have a MW because of my thyroid. I'll have to have an OB, I was looking forward to a MW, I hope my OB will be nice. Oh well whatever's best.

Squizzy, I think you'll need a MW for after you have bubs? cause I'm pretty sure OB's dont look after you...(well mine didnt for #1!)
Just double check k?

Tinks, Thanks for that, so I would still need to look at booking a MW now then?

My GP mainly has men as patients so she doesn't deal with pregnancy much. She has had kids herself but that would have been 25 years ago. Whilst the basics are still the same, I am sure the management has changed. She was very reassuring though.

Squizzy.... is your OB a private one or attached to the hosp? Most private ones have their own midwives that work with them and if you are under a hosp OB then you would be looked after postnatally by a community midwife who works out of the hospital. The only way your would be able to have an independent midwife look after you postnatally was if you had been under a midwife at the start of your pregnancy and then were transferred in to the hosp. Then you could opt to have your original midwife do your postnatal care. Hope that makes sense?????

**lurker in**

Squizzy - as Katte said if you choose a private OB then you will need to pay - even if it is shared care with your midwife, alternatives are full OB care using their midwives for after care support (cost about $3500 in Auckland), or your midwife will refer you to the hospital OB and you will get whoever is on at the clinic/delivery on the day.

No vomiting just nausea in the mornings and around mid afternoon. Will know in the next week what I am in for as it got worse around 6 1/2 weeks with the other two.

Have a fab weekend everyone and enjoy the sunshine!

Hi ladies - found out on Thursday I'm due the 16th of Nov! Argh, nearly 6months of trying it seems to be untrue (but a few HPT's later I am)

DH is determined to not get excited which sucks big time, but we're taking it as we come. Other than AF being late I had no other signs.... though my boobs are getting more and more sore which sucks!

Looking forward to the next 8 months with everyone!

Bun-mum click on someones 'ticker' that you like, go thorugh the steps to create one for you, then click on the word 'Profile' up the top of this page... scroll through and you'll see the part where you can put in your signature. You can also add any other details for people to see when they click on your profile button that is on the bottom of each of your posts

Thanks Katte, I'll have to find out if there are any private OBs in my area (which is not Wellington but for privacy in this early stage I would like to keep quiet).
I have Southern Cross so I think they will pay for part of the OB visits.

I've been a bit queasy at times but I don't know if that from being pregnant or due to my total guilt of lying to my friends...telling them that I'm not pregnant. I went to a wedding, every second person (slight exaggeration for effect) asked "why aren't you drinking? Are you pregnant?". Way too early for me to tell anyone so I lied. I have noted down the names of all the people who I lied to so I can call them and tell them personally before I announce to the world.

Welcome to the new Mums-to-be in the Nov thread.

Feeling good still except for a killer back ache after moving about .75m3 of soil into my vege garden! No MS at thins stage which I am glad about, had it with both boys.

Getting very impatient waiting for my scan on Thursday.

Anyone started thinking about names? My asked me about names yesterday, was really surprised that she asked especially so early on. Still love Bella for a girl, was the name we had if Ben was a girl. Have no idea on boys names yet

Yay for more nov girl!

I'm still ok -just hungry before a meal which usually doesnt happen.. and lots of 4am wake up calls and can't sleep againt till 6ish other than that I'm good as gold seeing as we arent telling anyone till the 12 week mark i'm spacing out going to the dr & ringing the midwife.... need a step as i go along so i dont burst!

We decided ages ago (before Twilight) that we like Isabelle for a girl (I desperately want a girl called Izzy but the Izzy had to be short for something). No boys names as of yet. Not finding out the sex which will make it interesting

Welcome to all the newbies - Squizzy don't worry about lying to people, they will understand but yeah I've had to tell people "soon" when they ask if we're planning another yet.

Feeling quite queazy in the mornings but trying not to gag lol. Changing DD's nappy in the morning is hard

Names - I liked Grace for a girl but DH doesn't. Also Bryn for a boy but again DH doesn't, he likes Dave, Im just not sure I can bring a tiny baby home and call him Dave.... kinda like Dave from the pub name to me

Morning everyone,
So, midwives. All the ones I've called seem to be busy. Is this normal? I mean I'm not due til Nov. What do you do if you can't find anyone?
This is my first pregnancy and and I am terribly excited but nervous as well. Just hoping we make it to 12 weeks with no problems. That's normal right?
Babies- Yay!

*lurker*

Hey Bun-Mum... Wellington is a bit tricky with midwives from my own experience..I'm due in September with our first as well and at 5 weeks I had to do a bit of a search - which was tricky as it was New Years - I'm Tawa/Porirua way... I'm not in the Hutt, but if you try this link: http://www.wellingtonmidwives.com/
its a pretty exhaustive list... I then googled names from the list to see who was recommended on forums etc. and then met a couple that could fit with my date. In the Hutt the only midwife that a friend recommended to me (then remembered I'm Porirua way) was Grace Pilay. I'd heard that Hutt hospital have a good team too....but no first hand experience with that one!

Congratulations and enjoy....the first 12 weeks I found nerve racking too, particularly as you try to relate to other peoples experiences. I got myself in a pickle for a little while with over thinking and then settled...Go with it and enjoy (as best you can if MS becomes a problem!!)

Congrats to all the other November mums!!!

lurker out....I'll return to my September corner..LOL

It can be very common so keep looking and ringing around. With Ben I called my mw at 4w1d to make sure I got her, this time I was 4w2d and have got her again altho she is away the month before my due date.

This is my 3rd pg and I still have to remind myself not to overthink things. I am actually hoping that the scan on Thurs puts me further along so that I am closer to the 12wk mark.

Still feeling good. Saw my notes from Ben and my first mw appt at 7w3d said I had ms, so unfortunately there is still time
