Sorry don't know anyone in that area, but I've been into the Chipmunks (for a birthday party) and I chatted with one of the staff members there and she said that they do get coffeegroups in during the week (at $3 a kid I'm not surprised). So Pukekohe mums do exist!

If there's a plunket branch in Pukekohe they might be able to introduce you to an existing group. Good luck.

lol I wouldn't say that I'm experienced...I'm just fumbling my way along each day!

Where have you moved from?

I've been in Waiuku for a couple of years now.

You sound a lot like me, its all a bit of trial and error this Mum thing, i am going on my instincts and trying to figure out what works for the both of us!

We moved back here from Australia where we have spent the last year, to be in the same country as our familys for a bit of support. I am slowly learning the Pukekohe area and trying to set up a home for the three of us!

Do you like this area?

Yeah that's pretty much my method too :)

I'm not a huge fan of the greater Auckland region - I'm a Canterbury girl! But this area does have it's benefits, some good beaches around for the kids and it's still far enough away from the city to not be part of the city but close enough to get there if need be.

How are you finding it so far?

Posted By: kfryer
Date Posted: 21 March 2011 at 2:37pm
Yeah i hear you I am a Taranaki girl and my husband is from the Hawkes Bay - we chose this area so we could have a house and a backyard, it is really important for Oscar to have a yard to play in and ride his bike (looking a few months ahead)

It is a nice area, markets for fruit and vege shopping on a Sat and Pukekohe has some fantastic op shops and a neat crafting community!

We live in a nice area too which always helps - what is Waiuku like?

Are you a crafty mumma?

Waiuku tends to be like other small towns I have lived in. One or two decent shops, the supermarket is fairly good. But most things happen in Pukekohe!! Or I just don't hear about any 'family' things that are taking place lol

Posted By: kfryer
Date Posted: 21 March 2011 at 2:55pm
Hmm im an aspiring crafty Mumma, since i am at home now i am trying to immerse myself in all things crafty.. first is knitting ! so watch this space !

There is a really neat educational shop here in Puke i found in town, with toys etc for devleopmental skills - they all seem to be great quality i havent seen a shop like that for a while. It is next to a NZ made shop and we all have to support NZ made products!

Love to Learn I think it is.

Yeah that shop is pretty cool :) Though I'm biased and have to say the best shop in this region is Scamps Boutique!! But I only say that because that's my business lol

I'm really not crafty lol I have tried knitting, I still have a scarf I started a couple of years ago sitting in the cupboard!

Hi everyone!
I live in Opaheke, so not too far away from Pukekohe at all. I have a 10 week and 21 month old and work from home so keen to meet up if anything is organised. I'll keep watching the thread
kfryer, take a look at http://realnappies.co.nz - Real Nappies as well. I've been using them on my 2 littlies and they're fantastic. Their packs are awesome and they often email deals out if you sign up for their newsletters.
I love cloth nappies and they're so easy to use. Feel free to ask me any questions you might have.

I wont judge - just remember to flush the poo!!

Do you want to come round for a coffee and we can go through all the options? Might be easier than trying to explain everything online!

Thats sounds really great - only if you dont mind my bazillion questions about nappies! When suits you? I have my mans first injections tomorrow and im not sure how they are going to go ( yes im slightly freaking out a bit) but generally i am pretty flexible ?

So we were thinking of going next week as a group either on Tuesday am or Thursday am... Is anyone keen? if so which day suits? Please let me know asap, so Gemma can sort it with B/creek.
