Hi ladies

Just wondering if anyone has any advice.

I put on 25 kgs during pregnancy partly because I had preeclampsia and a lot of it was swelling.

After the initial weight loss post birth I was left to lose 10, and now I've lost 4 of those. I seem to have lost weight in legs, arms etc but it's not shifting from my belly.

For exercise I teach dancing for 2-3 hours 2 times a week and go for walks as well.

I realise I need to add in something different to target the tummy, but Im not a huge weights/gym person and can't afford a gym membership right now.

Is there anything else I can do to target this specificially? I know that you have to lose weight all over to lose weight in the tummy, that you can't just aim to lose it there, but is there anything I can do to help me on my way?

I don't have a car at the moment during the day so it needs to be something I can do at home/bus to.

At the moment my diet is ok, could be better but Im trying my best, with whole grains, lean meat, salad etc and not too many carbs. My one weakness is not drinking enough water

You cant spot reduce (trust me I've tried ). You just have to reduce your overall body fat. I've lost tons of weight and the last place my body is taking fat from is my tummy. I just have to be patient and stick with it. My tummy is reducing but it has reduced at a much slower rate than the rest of me. If your loosing weight just keep doing what your doing, it will come off if you keep at it.

I agree with kebakat- keep doing what you are doing, maybe do some specific abdo exercises to get your tummy muscles stronger again and it slowly comes off. I have slimmed down lots but still have a belly and look like im pregnant again! (im not) lol

It took me forever and it was honestly the last place to come off!

Even when I had lost all the weight it took me another solid 4 months of exercising for strength to get it firm again. (Although I had two c sections, so my abs were not as agile as they would have been if Id had natural child birth).

PS - the photos were taken a year apart.

ETA - Your food needs to be squeeky clean too .. not just ok if you want results quicker than you are getting them.

All I can suggest is Belly dancing. That is the best free thing I can think of that is fun and targets the belly specifically.

Yeah and the whole, belly being the last place to lose it is true, as the belly fat is protecting vital organs, so your body holds on to it for dear life.

wow lilfatty you look awesome!! very inspirational.

I have same issues.. since stopping BF I have put on a few kg well 4-5 but they have all headed headed to my tummy.

Sorry to threadjack but have others found that after pregnancy if they gain weight rather than it being more evenly distribed it goes to the belly. For me it has gone on the very lower belly I hate it. So DH and I joined my fitness pal yesterday...

I'm on fitness pal too. Same username as here.

Yup, extra fat seems to head straight for my belly!

jules1980 - yes I've found its gone on my belly since pregnancy! I had visable abs in my 20s when I was really fit, and still had a flat tum before kids .... now I have 10kgs of extra weight after my 2nd child, and I'd say at least half of it is on my tummy -- very depressing as that was always one of my best body parts!

I had a caesar so it's real weird shaped belly fat too. The most effective exercise I've been doing for the last fortnight (and I'm already seeing it working) is to lie flat on your back with your hands behind you just above your bum, stick your legs straight in the air and lower them very slowly down to floor WITHOUT letting your back come up off the floor. Sounds easy but if you're doing it properly you can really feel it pull.

Hi,

I am also starting to do some dieting. To get back to my size 10. I'm not also that gym/exercise lover. Besides Im a single mum of 2 kidz I dont think I can add going to gym with my hectic schedule. :)

So I just have to keep doing what I just started replacing my 2 meals with a shake. This cost me only $3.30/meal or $6.60 for two meals a day. And I still have my normal meal during the night.

Cheers!

Yes you are right you need to add something different to target the tummy, you can add some diff exercise but keep doing exercise which you have already doing with full energy. Also take some help from physiotherapist. Many exercise also came in my mind for reducing tummy fat but first you consult to any physiotherapist in your area.

I put on 15kg my last pregnancy and most of that was put on in the first trimester because of MS And then in the last trimester a lot of my gain was also fluid retention. 7 weeks after birth I am now 13kg off my pre preg weight I read somewhere that 12 - 18kg is the normal range.

If you can keep active and avoid comfort eating (definitely harder for me during the pandemic) you can definitely lose the tummy you accumulated during pregnancy.

The recommended 150 minutes a week of moderate exercise (or 75 minutes of more intense exercise) definitely helps. That's a couple of walks or online cardio / Zumba / HIIT classes a week.

Yoga helped me lose my weight a lot faster.

Yoga burns calories when done the right way.

If you are serious about losing weight and getting fit, you might want to implement a 60-minute power yoga and/or vinyasa flow practice at least five to six days per week.

https://yogaweightloss365.com/" rel="nofollow - This yoga weight loss program was easy to follow and worked for me during my pregnancy when I started gaining too much weight.

Each class is easy to follow, but is varied and enjoyable. Dynamic Sequencing means you'll always be challenged regardless of your current level.

If you want to follow my example, think about coupling your practice with a whole foods diet for optimal results.

Good luck!

Mandy
