Amongst other things, DS has a dairy allergy. He is still on Pepti Jnr 2x a day and loves it.
I am worried about where he will get his calcium from though? He has soy yoghurt and eats plenty of fruit and vege but will there be any long term effects of him never having had dairy? Bring on the gluten free and allergy show in May!!  ------------- http://lilypie.com">

I take calcium tablets. Once he gets to a certain age I don't see why you can't suppliment him.
You can give calcium fortified Soymilk or ricemilk as well. ------------- Kel http://lilypie.com">

Surely the pepti jr has calcium? Or do you mean when he goes off that?
My ds is allergic to dairy also, he gets his calcium from rice milk. I offer milk or water as a drink during the day and he normally chooses the rice milk which is great because I don't have to worry about trying to get calcium into him lol. When he was younger he wouldn't drink much rice milk and then he would have soy yoghurt, soy icecream, and rice milk in porridge and that covered it ------------- http://lilypie.com">  http://lilypie.com">

Oh also if you're worried I'm sure you could see a dietitian to check he's getting enough Our GP referred us to a hospital dietitian who basically looked at what he was eating to make sure he was getting enough and gave some suggestions etc. Was good to put my mind at rest that his diet was fine. ------------- http://lilypie.com"> http://lilypie.com">

I use rice milk in his baking, so might try that in his sippy cup and see if he is keen. He hasnt been referred to a dietician (our paed was USELESS), but he is under another specialist so Ill ask him at our next appointment. ------------- http://lilypie.com">
