Hi louloubell, have posted in the IVF chat thread also, just wanted to send extra big 's your way!
I am with FA Hamilton also, I may have asked you this before but who is your consultant over there?
I am having doubts about them also, we are due to start 2nd round and I have left four messages this week regarding Day 1 and still no one has got back to me, very frustrating!
Will be interesting to see what others have to say...

Hey Loulou-the laptop wouldn't let me on here but the computer has! Hope you're doing okay honey, DH and I are thinking of you guys xo.
FAH has been a bit slack lately I reckon, just hearing your experiences and what we have experienced at times too-it's not really good service at all.Things like returning calls and messages is basic stuff but obviously really important!
I would be interested to hear other people's experiences with their own clinics and recommendations too, I know a work colleague of my mums(from BOP) went through Repromed for her 4th IVF and raved about the service so I will see if I can get some more info from her for you.
Take care love and talk soon! xoxox

Scaredy - Yea, I think if our levels do not rise and we need to do this again I will go for a consult with them to see what they can offer and then get some other opinions..... with the amount of $$$$$ we are spending I want and expect exceptional service.... I will be firm next time round... A woman on a mission!! LOL very frustrating for you, it must be hun!! I have everything crossed for you and thanks for the lovely message in the other thread x
Jane - thanks hun I'm feeling much better than a couple of hours ago - I still have about a 2-5% chance so you never know!! I would love to hear about that lady - sounds like good info will have to catch up for a coffee & you tell me everything you know LOL have a good weekend chicky speak soon xoxoxox

Hey Guys,
Been lurking in the IVF thread for some time since my MC late last year but wanted to send out my best wishes to you all in this journey that you are on. louloubell the length of time it took you to hear back today made my head spin for you...sorry that you had to go through that.
For what it is worth DH and I live in Auckland and are dealing with Fertily Plus. We have had one fresh transfer which result in a BFN and one frozen transfer which was a BFP but we MC at 6.5 weeks. I have nothing but high reviews of the F+. Always returned phone calls and with the MC called every week for about 3 weeks after to make sure that we were ok and if we had any questions. The Doctor made sure that we were well looked after (as we were most likely going to MC over Christmas time). We are just about to start our second cycle (public this time)and I am hoping for the same level of care that we received the first time around.
Good luck to you all and I hope that you receive your BFP in the very near furture for you all :D

Hey fozziebear thanks for your kind words :-)
I'm sorry you had a miscarriage last year I wish you all the best for your upcoming cycle - thanks so much for your feedback.... It is so refreshing to hear that F+ treated you with the respect and service you deserved. When is your public cycle? Who is your consultant there? xx

Hey Lou, yup we'll make a date! Sorry hun hope I wasn't coming across doom&gloom for you as I'm still VERY hopeful that your levels will rise too!It just riles me up to think about how you've been treated at times-especially the waiting yesterday! xoxo

Hey Jane, no you weren't coming across doom & gloom honey thanks I'm trying to positive but realistic also I know.... I was soooo upset yesterday mainly because of the waiting... it drove me crazy!! LOL!
Hey, I have been looking more at Fertility + and altho they don't have a huge online presence or website etc...I think they could be quite good.... Professor Neil Johnson seems to be quite up there in terms of research etc..... I wonder how long it would take to get an appt?

Hey,
louloubell to answer your questions F+ is a little different to FA. One way they keep the costs down is by having doctors work there on different days of the week. Therefore it can happen that each time you go in you see another doctor. However in saying that for the fresh and fozen cycle (with all the scans etc) we ended up seeing only two the whole time. One can't remember her name but her bedside many wasn't the greatest but the nurses seemed to know that and made up for her lack of it. The one that I rate very highly is Paul Robinson. He was the one that went out of his way to make sure that we were taking care of properly in and around Christmas time.
I am waiting for day 1 as we speak which should be in a day or 2. Good luck for you up and coming blod test I hope that your numbers keep raising for you

hi,
We are with F+ and found them to be all over the place due to seeing different doctors & nurses.
One doctor dropped the sperm sample on the floor when doing my iui & left it to the nurse to tell me what happened!
I cant recall receiving any follow up phone calls re my MC - must be the difference between public & private perhaps???
They do have a website but its not under fertility plus - its under www.healthpoint.co.nz.
Bitter much lol!!!
I think that all clinics have their varying levels of service, if we could afford to go private we would

rubyrock - OMG!! What a horrible experience, I just told my DH & he was shocked!! I don't care if someone is private or public they should treat people with respect & that doctor should have apologised to you both himself!!! Some doctors have such a bad bedside manner!! We paid for our 1st one privately and got not so good service, I felt like a sausage in a factory! We are using up all our deposit for our house - looks like we may rent for the rest of our lives!? Hey loulou,
We are with Auck Repromed, Guy Gudex and he's been very good, although most our contact has been with the nurses. Squirtsmum has written in another thread (Private IVF cost) about Repromed and Guy and I agree with everything she said. The clinic is small and they know the names of all their patients, so every time I called I felt they knew me straight away and knew why I might be calling. After the EC I felt the nurses were still good and caring but they didn't know much about what was happening with the eggs/embies...that was the only downside; so they were calling to see how I was doing and remind me about Panadol etc but they couldn't give me any answers I wanted, had to wait to talk to the Embryologist who was also good. DH emailed him a few times during the wait between EC and ET and he gave us detailed info about the grading of our embies, sent us the picture of the one transferred etc.
I too am however wondering whether to get a second opinion from F+ or elsewhere before we do another cycle. As I mentioned in IVF chat I didn't feel like Repromed was going to offer us anything different for the next round, so that was a bit discouraging...but DH wants continuity of care and we are basically happy with Repromed so will most likely stay with them.
I think Neil Johnson used to work at Repromed and has moved to F+?
We had an initial app with Barry Lowe (?) at F+ (were referred there by GP) and didn't find his manner very good, he laughed when I asked whether there is anything we could try while 'waiting' for Public cycle, said we could do whatever we liked and read on the internet but nothing would work with the SA DH has :( I mean he could have said it nicely? I was in tears throughout the app with him....would def NOT want to have him as my doctor, but that's the risk we'd take if went to F+. We'll be on the public waiting list at F+ from June though, but I sooo hope we'll get our BFP before the public cycle comes up in 16 months or so

Thanks Sunshine for this I think we are so much like each other!! Very proactive!!
Well, I started spotting a small amt...so I'm guessing it may be over? I dunno never had this before & I have a splitting headache with horrible AF cramps - still trying to hang onto a miracle on the other hand but I feel we were soooo close & yet sooo far....
Thanks, I'm thinking we'll have appts with all three!! I know that is costly but I want the best & I want to see what they all have to offer us.... it will be interesting...
We are on the public waiting list and ours isn't until July next year!!

Hi Louloubell,
I'm in Tauranga also. We were living in Auckland and I was attending Fertility Plust (privately). I found them really good, not sure how they would be if not private though.
I'm going to have to go back for my FET but they don't seem to think this is a problem.
Hope that helps.
Hope you are okay.

Hi louloubell,I am with fertility associates in Auckland and I have found them really good even though our first public funded ivf didn't work.we have our review appointment on the 6th May so I will see what they have to say. The waiting lists there have been good for public funding compared to other clinics.for scans you do see who the FS is on duty and it may not be your specialist but they seem to know your notes etc.they always call me back with results in good time etc.overall so far I would recommend them to anyone, but time will tell with our review appointment and round 2.

Hi all,
There a couple of girls here who are/have done IVF in Oz.
Can I ask whether you are from NZ originally and therefore, can New zealanders easily do IVF in Oz or do you have to be an Australian citizen? I heard that most costs there are covered by medicare insurance; is it easy to get, what are the costs like?
Just wondering whether it's something to consider for the future....or whether it's not really an easy thing to organise etc....
Also, if any girls have done IVF in NZ and then in OZ, have you noticed much difference in the protocols, their approach, different technologies? Thanks in advance =)

Hi Sunshine
Just saw this post sorry. I have done IVF in both NZ and OZ (halfway through the Oz one obviously).
Because of the reciprocal agreement between NZ and OZ if you are a NZ citizen you are entitled to the same care and benefits in Australia as Australians.
In saying that - most of the IVF clinics are private and you get about 80% of out of pocket costs back through medicare (and private insurance covers some as well). So an average cycle is about $2,000 out of pocket costs (that's through my clinic though - obviously costs vary between clinics).
In saying that, you have to be registered for medicare and the medicare safety net and I''m pretty certain you couldn't do that unless you could prove that you had migrated to Aus permanently.
There is no reason why you couldn't pay privately (my cycle is approx $AUD6,800 - so prob works out the same as NZ $$. Maybe some NZ health funds might cover some of it?
For me, the Oz clinic has been 1000% more professional and efficient than the NZ one - but I was through Dunedin and they're definitely not the best in my experience.
The protocols seem pretty similar (bear in mind I didn't make it to egg collection in NZ), but the Oz clinic is far superior when it comes to being thorough, asking lots of questions and making you feel like they are doing the right one based on your history - again, I'm not sure Dunedin is a good comparison though - I had been with them for 7 years and they are pretty prone to handing out one-size fits all scenarios.
Hope this makes sense and isn't too much of a ramble - would be more than happy to answer any other questions you have.
I know that feeling of being all-consumed by infertility and willing to try anything - it's horrible. i really hope you get your baby soon hun. xx

I should have mentioned that Medicare is the Government's health program, so it's not insurance per se that you pay for, but basically part of the Government public health system that bridges the gap between public and private health care. That's why you wouldn't be eligible for it unless you were residing in Australia.

That is very interesting Mountaingirl!! Thank you soooo much!!! Gives me food for thought and altho we are going down the natural route for the next 6mths it gives me some time to ponder.... I did go to repromed in Auckland and found them a LOT better than FA so if repromed are rubbish my 2nd round I may then think about OZ & what they have to offer (sounds fab)!!! I wish you all the best as well hun! It is such a tough journey and everyday that goes past makes it even more frustrating because we just want to fix it!!

hi Girls..
I too am very interested to hear about which is the BEST CLINIC IN NZ...
We are considering Repromed Akl as we are not that impressed with FAH to be honest
We have had a bad run and our last cycle was a disaster
Any comments and successes particularly about Repromed AKL and Dr Gudex would be much appreciated as we are looking seriously at considering doing an "antagonist" cycle with them
