DH has decided he really doesn't like how wide the nappies are in the crotch area. He's concerned that DD isn't comfortable. It's worse at night when I'm using the extra booster. There really is a lot of padding in there.
I'm using Real Nappies and add the booster at night. But even just with the regular insert they are very bulky in the middle, but they are working really well and ive had no leaks. I also some My Baby ones and another type off TM, they aren't quite as bad.
What nappies do you have that are a lot narrower in the crotch?

To be honest I am not sure that it actually matters at all. Chances are that your DH wore cloth nappies that were wide in the crotch, and his parents certainly did, and I presume none of them walk like cowboys now.
If your baby is sleeping well, and there is no chafing or rubbing, then she is probably perfectly comfy. It is normal for babies to sleep with their knees tucked up, whether sleeping on back or tummy, so the nappy may not be impacting at all.
You could fold the prefods in quarters rather than thirds to make them a bit slimmer.
Personally I don't think I would be messing with a system that is working with no leaks

I do know what you mean, I used prefolds for a long time before changing to itti bittis and grovias once DS became active crawling and then walking.
Sure, we might of worn bulky nappies back in the day but this is the future and modern cloth is available so why not use it? Most nappies other then prefolds are trimmer in the crotch so you don't have to buy ittis or grovias but they are both great nappies for other reasons too. But you said you have some my baby nappies, I have had them and quiet liked them when I used them.
You could use my baby in the day time and keep using your prefold system at night seen as it is working.

Why don't you try to fold your prefolds in a different way and use a snappi. That's what I do and they are no where near as bulky and sit even better when baby becomes more active. Google "folding prefold nappies" and you should be able to find some different ways of folding. Cheaper to by a couple of snappis then new nappies!

Thanks I hadn't thought of using a snappi. I'm already folding the prefold into quarters, it's huge when in 3rds.
I think I will see what other ways I can fold it though.
The my baby are quite good as the insert is narrower, they just don't last as long.
Thanks for the suggestions :)

I agree! Also like the idea of using a snappi to keep the nappy in place.
My main thought: don't fix what aint broke . Many of us struggle finding a nappy that doesn't leak overnight!
