I'm pregnant with my third due 3-5th May 2012!
Where are the rest of you May mummas?!

I'm here!
Hi! I'm Sara (25), and my DH (24) and I are expecting our first baby on 1st May 2012!
Still very shocked and not trying to get too excited until we get past these first three months...well only two to go now YAY! We only got married in April and this was our first cycle trying so we are feeling very lucky at the moment!

Posted By: BoMama
Date Posted: 25 August 2011 at 3:08pm
Lol congrats Sara!! First cycle 'trying' here too (we weren't actually planning on it but DH decided it would be quite nice so... here we are )

Yup one month down only 2 to go til the 'magic number'

I've been on OB for all three of my babies now, its a good place to meet people and sort through all those 'uh is this normal' questions

Would you prefer a boy or a girl?

Posted By: misssara
Date Posted: 25 August 2011 at 3:48pm
Thanks and congrats to you also
I am still very shocked it happened straight away! Aren't we both lucky ladies!

I think OB is awesome! It's so nice to share what you are going through with people in the similar situation ...and the questions! Because this is my first time I just don't know what to expect! I am feeling super bloated at the moment and a tad crampy "down there"...well just really uncomfortable...is this normal lol?

We arent too fussed on what we have, obviously as long as he or she is healthy! We decided ages ago that when we did have children we wouldnt find out the sex....it will be a surprise!

How about you? Any preferance

Yep you'll probably feel like AF is going to arrive any minute perfectly normal everybody is different so its one of those experiences that you kinda have to live through to work out how your body deals with it IYKWIM?!

I've had 2 very different pregnancies, first one I was terribly sick (and had a pretty processed diet) and second one it was fairly average with morning sickness in first and third trimester and SPD (a fairly healthy diet til about week 6 when I got tired and unmotivated and we resorted to takeaways... ALOT! MS got way worse after that). This time I'm really focusing on my diet and eating lots of nutrient dense superfoods (spinach, berries, red meat, liver, garlic, eggs, etc) and drinking water constantly. We'll see in a week or so how it helps with the morning sickness Thats probably my biggest recommendation to anyone on their first pregnancy - diet in my experience makes a huge difference and so does the amount of water you drink. Hope that gives you some ideas

I want a boy, DH wants a girl, DS1 wants a girl, DS2 doesn't care so I swing his vote for a boy We'll def be finding out at our 20wk scan lol I don't have the patience to wait!

Oh yeah uh super shocked here lol I was sure it'd be a BFN TBH but nope :booty dancing: so excited I've got a BFP with my first cycle of trying (or whoopsie) with all my babies so yeah I consider myself very blessed!!

Oh YAY for our list! ...even if there is only two of us on it so far lol.
Yeah I have read a lot about diet etc and I really want to enjoy my first pregnancy (if I can) so therefore am trying to be good! Eating lots of fruit and veg...and lots of raw nuts and seeds....and drinking tons of water and herbal teas (i am slightly addicted to green tea lol) Feeling pretty good at the moment apart from the discomfort "down there" and super super tired!
Exciting that you are finding out what you are having!
So, because I have no exerience in the pregnancy deapartment I hope you don't mind me picking your brain about a couple of things in the coming months lol.
First question is...when do I start calling midwives? Is it too early to think about this yet? We are clueless on what to do next!

Posted By: skiltz
Date Posted: 25 August 2011 at 6:10pm
Wellington midwives are really hard to get hold of and even more hard to book. If I was you I would be ringing around ASAP. I'm not sure where you are in Wellington but my wife used Noreen Jewell and she was awesome. Right leaving this thread alone now.... as you were.

Pick away I'll help where I can

Freezer meals are great btw, double up any meal you can and chuck half in the freezer
Apparently a high protein diet helps with morning sickness too and I know I've found it true for me!
Exercise even when you don't feel it is good, keeps your body working well.

You can call the midwives now if you like, considering how busy they get I don't think its too early. It also means you have some time to meet a few, get a feel for what you want and who makes you feel safe without being condescending or know-it-all (thats really annoying - just because its your first pregnancy doesn't mean your concerns or any feelings that something might be wrong should be scoffed at!!), or of course in the other direction you don't want a little stress-bunny of a midwife who'll wind you up everytime you see her lol it can be abit of a process sometimes, but other times it falls into place like a dream. If you and DH make a list of the 3 key things you feel you need in a midwife thats a good start then go from there FYI our list is (not in any particular order) 1. someone who'll listen sincerely, 2. someone whos happy to give lots of details (we're both detail-orientated ) and 3. someone whos friendly and approachable so that might help Definitely start approaching MWs within the next 3-4 weeks.
I start looking at birthing options early on too just making a list of things as they occur to me, getting ideas on relaxation techniques and new ideas on making childbirth easier!

Hope some of this helps lol...

Are you getting a 12wk scan? I get all the scans I'm offered lol I love seeing baby! We have framed scan pics of both our little guys. Have you thought about how you're gonna announce it?? We're gonna see if we can hold off til Christmas coz we live a fair distance away from family so when they won't see Bump growing and it'll be a huge surprise

Ok just read skiltz post so yeah have a chat with DH then go hard! I've always lived rurally so its never been an issue finding a MW but Wellys is obviously a different story don't stress out if it doesn't come together though hun just breathe and take it one step at a time. I know alot of people find it really stressful finding a MW but everyone seems to end up with someone there to catch the baby at the end of the day

Thanks skiltz!

Oh gosh you are a wealth of knowledge
Thanks heaps for all the advice. I have been researching a little and a few particular midwives have been mentioned quite a bit so may give them a call tomorrow

We definatly want a 12 week scan! We both can't wait to see the baby and that way it makes it "real" i guess!
DH just had a rather cute moment. I went for a shower then came out and he started asking me loads of questions about my cramping (because I had mentioned it and he was a tad concerned). Anyway he had popped on the computer while I was in the shower and did a little research for himself and came out with "it's all good, it's just your uterus starting to grow" Oh bless!

Haha nope I've just done this a couple of times. You'll be the same if you have more

Let me know how the MW search goes. I have a list of uh 2 midwives that come to where I live lol I'll have to give them a call at some point too :sigh: so much to do, so little time! Actually its just that I'm disorganised but shhh I like to protect the illusion that I'm onto it

Naaw cute DH! Mine has gone into total protective mode already lol 'whatever you want to eat babe', 'are you ok babe', 'need anything else babe', 'here babe let me do that'...

Are you nesty at all? I'm abit obsessed with cleaning out my cupboiards and reorganising everything atm!

*lurker from the TTC thread checking in on missara's progress*

BoMama, I assume that having had two babies already you'd know the restictions on Liver consumption while pregnant? If not, it might pay to do some looking into. (Don't mean to sound like a condescending know-it-all, but it's something that has stuck in my head from my first pregnancy as I read it and though "Blegh, who still eats liver these days?" !!!

Yay BFP this morning. I am Renee and this will be our third (have a two DS-nearly 4 and nearly 2).
Looks like I am due around 2nd of May

It is still sinking in that I am pregnant again!!!

Morning ladies

YAY Welcome mummut! Congrats

Awww aren’t husbands cute! DH has been doing similar things (well asking if I am feeling ok every five minutes lol) I am feeling a little less crampy today which is exciting! It almost felt like I had AF and every time I went to the bathroom I was half expecting to that AF had arrived, but still nothing YAY! I felt my first dose of nausea this morning. Not enough to be sick, but just a little icky!

We are heading to the snow this weekend to celebrate my Dad’s 60th Birthday at the Chateau. It is going to be super hard not to say anything to them, but we really want to keep it to ourselves until we are past these first few months! I wouldn’t mind them knowing but my Mum has the biggest mouth in the world and I can almost guarantee my whole family (aunties, uncles, cousins) and family friends will know within a week. My sister told my parent’s when she was six weeks along and Mum sent everyone an email to let them know. My sister was not at all happy with the situation especially when one of my aunties posted congrats on Facebook for the world to see!

I am nesting a little…well clearing stuff out etc...I hate clutter!! DH wants to finish a whole lot of stuff to our house before the baby arrives like paint the ceilings, carpet the bedrooms (we have wooden floors and gets a tad chilly in the winter) and re wire the house (he’s an electrician) so I think he is nesting more than me at the moment lol

Yup thanks white_rabbit we grate abit into taco dishes every week or so. Its an excellent source of iron and folic acid so for people like me who don't do pills (gag reflex anyone?) its a good way to add nutrients in, pregnant or not.

Hey Renee congrats I have a just 4yo and an almost 2yo! Haha its still sinking in with me that we're onto #3 too welcome to OB it was a sanity saver for me with both my previous pregnancies and I imagine it'll be just as great this time round having a place thats totally baby focused lol my littlies totally don't get it of course and DH works long days so nobody else to willingly listen to pregnancy jabber

Hahahahaha omg Sara that is so my mother!!! They're coming to stay next month and I'm frantically trying to organise things so if I do have morning sickness they won't pick up on it coz seriously *everybody* will know within the week I want to wait as long as possible! She wouldn't do a group email though :cringe: that is really bad!!

Renee are you planning on finding out if you're carrying blue or pink? What would you prefer?

Thats is funny that our boys are pretty much a similar age. My two are 22months apart and I love it now but it was a tough first year hence why this gap is bigger took me ages to come around to even thinking about having another one. I will definately be finding out what we are having as I would love a little girl but will be happy with a 3rd boy. They are fun!!

I use to lurk on boards in my last pregnancies but decided to join this time, we are actually living in Rarotonga at the moment and don't know anyone preggers or even thinking about it so it will be nice to be in touch with others.
Do you have a preference for the gender? Did you try any of the tricks?

Missara- congrats on your first pregnancy it is such a cool exciting/scary time.

Thanks for the congrats mumnut It is a really exciting but nervous time! We are just hoping this little seed sticks! I think we will get super excited once we hit 12 weeks!

Wow living in Rarotonga...I am slightly jealous! I love Raro..it is the most gorgeous place!

Well I am glad that I have two experienced ladies here so I can ask you both loads of questions lol
I am about to head out to lunch and buy my first ever baby/pregnancy book so I can read more about what expect! I find it all so interesting!

Posted By: BoMama
Date Posted: 26 August 2011 at 5:54pm
Yeah whoa totally jealous LOL can we have a post-baby meet-up at your house??!!!

Renee I'd really like another boy actually I like the idea of 3 little males but DH would like a girl. Theres actually a smaller gap between #2 & #3 than there is between #1 & #2 in our house coz I mc'd otherwise it'd be alot tighter. I love the baby stage

Sara you can expect anything from sore boobs, sore back, sore tummy, sore bum, to throwing up, to constant peeing, to mood swings and more you also get that moment when you first feel your child move, see them on the scan, the moments you find you're holding a conversation with your bump and you feel like you truly have an interested audience

Anyone else have a huge hormone rush today?! I actually felt my boobs swell (and omg it hurt!), I've been having twinges and stretching already (not cramps), and lordy lord I've been an emotional trainwreck assure me I'm not alone????

Oooh AND is anyone else considering a homebirth? I've been in the hospital for the previous 2 but with #2 we were home the same day and since I'd have to travel almost an hour to the hospital this time I'm considering just sticking to home and a pool and hypnobirthing. Sara just FYI travelling while in labour is agonising in my experience lol I did 20 minutes with DS1, 45 minutes with DS2 and FX 0 with #3 coz seriously it sucks!!! Just something to think about LOL I'm so helpful right?!

Yeah pretty cool living here have been here 5months and it is such an awesome lifestyle...Particularly for the boys. I will be coming back to NZ for the birth tho as even tho my first 2 were great births (as far as births go) the hospital here is not equipped for the what ifs. I would have loved a homebirth as that car ride is awful but I am not sure where we will be staying as will be coming back to Raro once bubs is about 2 weeks old. May be staying at my parents or hubbies so not too sure I want to birth with people around....we will see!

No hormone surge for me the only symptom so far for me is cramping, oh and thirstier. I am feeling pretty cranky tho...more so than the other two pregnancies!! How were your first 2 births?

Sara how are you planning on telling family and friends once the time comes?

Lol thanks Puddleduck and Jaycee

Renee I had very different births with both my babies and both had a traumatic portion but both were natural with epidural. I'm working towards a much calmer, in control birthing process this time!!! I think I have a midwife too yay now just want to get the scan out of the way so I know things are happening the way they should and I can settle in and enjoy myself... well other than the sore back, nausea that I expect to hit sometime soon and the indigestion

hi Madsmum82 welcome to OB and yay for a BFP!!! I'm tired too biggest thing for me is my tummy I'm getting stretching and uncomfortable twinges and it feels like I've done a full-on ab workout (which I haven't JFTR lol). I'm also feeling rather nesty so have spent bits of today overhauling my kitchen cupboards. I'm actually wondering if I'm further along than I thought weird!

And no I'm not sitting here refreshing the screen til someone posts everyone else in my house is busy doing boy stuff and I have nothing to do (except rearranging cupboards that were organised to start with lol) so I am trawling baby sites for stuff I might 'need' and just generally being abit bored and tired

Welcome Marshkellow and Madsmum82 and Congratulations. How are you both feeling any symptoms yet?

Today I have had much less cramping and just feeling pretty tired this avo. But I am not sure if it is much different to other Friday afternoons tiredness or pregnancy. Was planning on keeping it a secret for awhile at least until the heart beat has been heard but I caved today (haha didn't take long) and told a close friend. But I knew I would told her eventually anyway and wanted to talk to her about it.

Morning Renee I've never been in such a quiet due date thread before lol FX we get some new people coe along in the next few weeks as they get BFPs (come on TWW thread help us out ).

We had a lovely weekend just cruising. I'm in full-on nest mode so reorganised our big activity cupboard, got some activities sorted for mr 4 (lots of cutting, laminating a glueing but totally worth it!), did washing, vacuuming, dishes, blah blah... Today I'm repacking all the babies clothes into their size booxes coz we've moved house a couple of times lately and it got abit messy specially with DS2 growing out of clothes and them not going back into the correct box. Its weird having so much energy, specially as with DS1 I had awful morning sickness at this stage and with DS2 I was exhausted already! Oh well I'm not complaining lol I figure I'll go hard and get everything organised now and when the exhaustion and morning sickness *does* hit it'll just be easier for both DH and I to keep on top of it all

Still no nausea here except when I smell something particularly bad OR when I was on the optometrists chair lol that was bad Apparently he found an old lesion in my eye that he suspected was toxoplasma so I'm going to ask my new midwife to do some bloods and stuff to check it out when we meet later this week! Uhm I'm reeeaaally gassy though like little burps and air caught in my tummy all the time which is uncomfortable and I'm having moments of being quite short-tempered but other than that nothing... Does anyone else have a worry that there won't be a HB at their first scan? I feel so much better than I did both other times that its making we wonder if something is wrong lol hows that for backwards?!

Hope you guys have a lovely day

Awww mm82 sorry to hear that! While I wish I knew everything was progressing normally I'm super-glad to not be getting up close and personal with my bathroom!! I have a ginger lemonade recipe if you'd like to give it a go? Nice to sip away at and pretty good for settling the tum. Peppermint tea is good too.

Yay great to have some action on these boards. Great to hear that your nausea hasn't hit. I have had a tiny bit of seediness today and a little bit of cramping again today but otherwise just quite tired and wow I am super cranky. I have heard of people getting really cranky is 1st tri but I didn;t with my first two but MAN alive I have been so irritable and emotional the last 2 days..
It is Sunday here so our weekend is still going which is nice, it is a beautiful sunny day so we just ate our lunch outside. Bomama we ended up living here as my husbands work (he is an engineer) had a job going here and so sent us, Yay we were pretty happy about it. I went out to dinner with some friends last night and it ended up being a tad uncomfortable as I wasn't drinking Oh well never mind I am sure they thought I was such a Nana, they will figure it out soon enough.
As for being worried about no Heartbeat it has crossed my mind but I figure while my symptoms are getting worse it must be all going ok!!

MM82 that sucks that sickness has kicked in already, was that the same with your first? Where abouts in Auckland are you?

xx

hahaha oops for the drinking funny story though! sparkling grape juice anyone?? Its monday here, wish it was still sunday do you find it alot cruisier over there? Do they do the same hours as over here or do you see DH more often? I'm jealous of the weather

Glad I'm not the only one being cranky I'm getting abit better though. I'm starting to get reeeeaaallly hungry all of the time lol DH reckons thats the most noticable thing so far, that and my potbelly I usually have a flat stomach but now? hello pooch! Very Annoying!! I'm also craving fresh fruit and veges so eating salads, drinking smoothies, munching fruit *sigh* atleast its good for me...

Who were you asking about their BFP? If it was me I was approx 12DPO, infact a month exactly from first day of last AF which happened to be a real weird one. Meh I think I'm just reading much into nothing! I need to start enjoying not feeling like crap coz if my last two pregnancies are anything to go by it will hit and it will be nasty LOL!

Hi ladies,

Sorry we just got back from a lovely weekend at the snow! Such great weather and nice to spend some time with my parents! Haha a bit of a contrast to the weather in Raro huh?

Welcome Mumnut and MM82

Well I am going to the nurse at my doctors office tomorrow for a swap (sorry if TMI) but I have been having quite bad CM which is slightly yellow. I had BV quite a while ago and the discharge was quite similar so I just wanted to get it checked out! I am feeling tons better than last week with the cramping so really happy about that! Still feeling quite heavy down there but glad the cramps have stopped YAY!

Thanks for the advise on "car rides and labour" BoMama! Thankfully we live about a minuites car ride from the nearest hospital so fingers crossed I will be at home when it all happens in eight months time haha

So not looking forward to going to work tomorrow! I swear I am getting more nausea by the day

Hope everyone else is well and glad to see we have more due in May ladies

Am I the only one not feeling nauseous??? Thats a turn around lol usually I'm one of the first and worst so totally stoked (and kinda nervous)!!

Yay for a lovely weekend away Sara did you manage to keep your big news quiet??

No such thing as TMI on OB we share evvvvverything!!!

Ok so morning sickness tips from an expert (seriously I had hyperemesis with #1 so bad I threw up constantly from 3 weeks til birth - infact the day my waters broke was the only day since week 3 (or 1 week after conception) that I didn't throw up! And it was better but still pretty bad with DS2 ) here we go:

Sip water *constantly* - even if you throw it up its better than stomach acid which is nasty! Plus very little else will work to relieve the morning sickness if you aren't hydrated!

Peppermint tea, peppermint lollies, peppermint candles or smelly stuffs - a definite help with the nausea, I put peppermint essence on a handkerchief and sniffed at it

Make a platter of snacks every morning so you can nibble through the day and its great when you have littlies it means you don't have to be making snacks constantly. Make sure you include protein coz that can be a big help with nausea. Here are some of the snacks I did when preg with #2 and actual what I do for me and the boys now anyway - boiled eggs, hummus and carrot sticks, sweet cottage cheese (blend it up with drained tin fruit - its pretty good), tuna and mayo on rice crackers, celery with peanut butter (and sultana eyes), a nut and seed mixture (especially brazil nuts they're really good for you and baby), sliced cheese (not the processed stuff thats crap I slice a block of cheese), homemade refried black beans w sour cream and avocado, sliced fruit, super dark chocolate, yoghurt... If you're working do the same. Helps to keep your tummy calm!

Don't eat too much bread and little to no fast food or processed food coz thats the fastest way to morning sickness I found

Do a load of washing a day or it'll multiple and turn into this 10 headed monster and haunt your dreams and if you handwash your dishes get DH to help with them after dinner otherwise just make sure he empties it so you can stack stuff straight in there. Being sick with a messy house is horrible.

Ok doke I have dispensed my wisdom and will go none of this may be of any help but it may give you ideas  hope some of it helps anyway

Glad to hear you had a good weekend away Sara. Did you ski/snowboard? I haven't been boarding since I had kids. I miss it but also can't imagine being cold at the moment.

Bomama I was asking anyone about the BFP as my cycles are irregular and have ranged from 30-36days this year so was just curious to see when people were getting their positive result. I am back in NZ in 3 weeks so am going to try get a early scan to get a more definate date esp since I will be needing to fly back at some point towards the end.

The lifestyle here is much more relaxed (took me a couple of months to adjust). I see DH so much more, he is around in the mornings for bfast time and never was back home. He is usually home by 6 which is awesome.

I have been pretty hungry today and trying not to go over board as with my other two I gained 5-6kg by 12weeks and I really want to avoid that this time. Thing is tho I am sure I am already expanding ARRGGGG. I know it has to happen!!! But come on I am not even 5 weeks yet

Are any of you planning to keep running/exercising through pregnancy? I am a runner so am going to try run for as long as I can. The problem could be the heat tho may have to switch to walking.

Oh ok yeah nah I'm super-regular, we weren't actually trying lol we'd put off TTC til end of the year but obviously thats re-adjusted

I also pack it on in the first trimester then nothing for the next 6. I put on almost exactly 11kgs with both boys and DS1 was 9"6, DS2 was 9"2 but he stopped growing at 36wks and I was pre-baby weight and back in my jeans within 48hrs I wasn't able to exercise at all through either pregnancy either lol must have been all the throwing up I'll do pilates with this one as long as I can. I do blogilates on youtube lol its quick, mean and targets all the areas I like to keep toned.

Brrrr I'd love to be warm right now! We've got the fire going constantly and its jackets and hats if we go outside!

Yay for coming home! Will you tell your parents then or wait?

Hey Kel whens your scan?

Late-ish night and early morning (DS2 arrived in our bed at 5.30am and every 5 minutes rolled over grabbed my head and cuddled it then plastered kisses all over my face - very cute but not conducive to sleep ) and woke up with a good dose of nausea and a headache and I'm grumpy. Poor babies lol they're not getting the best of mummy today! I got about 6.5hrs sleep so not normally sleep-deprived enough to cause nausea so maybe the onset of MS...

Midwife coming over this afternoon hope it goes well I haven't liked the alot of the midwives I've had in the past.

Have you guys found MWs yet? Renee will you find a MW in Raro? What will your prenatal care look like over there?

Hi Kel, I actually know Liv. Thanks tho I am not telling anyone at the moment that i am preggers but will eventually. That is if she doesn't come into this forum

To be honest I haven't even thought about care here but it is all done through one gynaecologist at the hospital. She does everything to do with womens things and pregnancies etc...I will probably contact her once I ahve been back to NZ. Am using the same MW i had for my second.
Feeling ok today had a good sleep, still feel tired but nothing much else.

Whow the tiredness is kicking in. It’s only 2pm and I feel like an afternoon nap! Oh well only 2.5 hours left of work for the day YAY!

Mumnut – I didn’t go skiing, but DH did! He used to a really big skier and hasn’t gone to the mountain in about five years, but he put on his ski’s and said it was like riding a bike. He spent the whole day up there and thoroughly enjoyed it. We are thinking of heading up there again in a couple of weeks with DH’s parents! It so awesome there, even though I didn’t get to ski, my Dad and I went on some awesome walks and it was just really nice to have some quality time with my parents.

So my parents know I am UTD. They weren’t meant to know but it was a bit of an accident! Is anyone ready for a super long story?
Well I took some photos of one of our walks and we were sitting down enjoying a drink before dinner (me a non alcoholic drink of course). Mum asked to look at the photos so I handed her my camera. She was flicking through the photos and came across one of a pregnancy test (I took it as a momento for a journal I am keeping of my first ever pregnancy - a little geeky I know) and I completely forgot to erase it from my camera. Well Mum was like “whose pregnancy test is this” and I just burst into tears. I was more nervous of my Dad’s reaction as about ten minutes earlier he joked that I couldn’t get pregnant until we had done the Routeburn track down south (we did the Milford track in January and now Dad is obsessed with doing more lol) But anyway long story short they were over the moon and so happy! I have sworn my Mum to secrecy so she better stick to it!

Oh BoMama I hope you aren’t getting sick! Fingers crossed it’s just your little seed causing the sickness!

Gee you ladies really didn’t put on much weight at all with your babies. My sister put on 30 plus kg’s! I think it’s because she ate whatever and whenever. I really want to try and be good! I just figure the better I eat and the more I exercise the better I will feel….well fingers crossed lol

Damn thought I posted but it didn't.

Look into acupunture for nausea & chinese herbs. It's done me no end of wonders. I can actually function quite normally.

Bomama, my scan isn't til the 23rd sept as they're working off dates 5 days behind what my MW said to work off.

mumnut, you'll know then the experiences Liv had with the maternity system over there! Hopefully at some point we'll be over to Raro & we're going to visit Liv as well. Could do a Raro OB meet up LMAO

haha that would be really nice. Yep the system here is unfortunately not flash if you are not having a good pregnancy. That is why I will come back to have the baby, not ideal but no point taking the risk.

Missara that is a pretty funny way of them finding out...kind of cool actually. Hopefully your mum isn't too excited that it slips. We told our immediate family straight away but this time feel like keeping it private for some reason! Would be quite cool to go home at christmas with a bump but not sure I can do it...I like to talk you see!!

I am feeling surprisingly good but for me I think it all hits around seven weeks anyway. Almost feel like I should take another test to be sure.

Posted By: misssara
Date Posted: 30 August 2011 at 6:24pm
Haha Mumnit I took another test this morning just to make sure. It came up super fast and super dark so I am now 100 percent positive that I am pregnant!

Oh that would be cool to surprise everyone with a bump! I like to talk also so I understand how hard it is to keep it quiet! I just phoned my sister in Brisbane and told her! I kind of had to...she phoned me as soon as she found out to share their excitment so I felt I should do the same She was so happy and excited that my nephew will have a cousin...and she kind of wants to start trying for another too....exciting!

Posted By: BoMama
Date Posted: 30 August 2011 at 7:40pm
Hahahaha yep Renee me too - I talk! My parents will be staying for us for a week in a fortnight and I'm totally not sure if they'll leave knowing or not lol we talk about baby like its already part of the family so might let it slip accidentle-like. I hope not though, we're also the same with wanting to get it a secret for while longer.

LOL awww Sara what a lovely way to tell your parents even if it wasn't planned!! You should go put that in the 'how did you announce it' thread over in pregnancy I'm really glad they were stoked for you and FX your mum keeps it zipped

So my midwife came today and shes a doll She stayed for 3 hours lol and we talked about all sorts of things then DH got home from work and I thought he was early but nope we'd just lost track of time haha She immediately made some calls about the toxoplasmia lesion in my eye and they're running tests to ensure its not an active virus, she thought eating variety and being sensible about when and where to follow the current pregnant eating guidelines was great, she took my first lot of bloods - the boys bumped me and I moved as she put it in so I lost abit more blood than required which ofcourse sent my body into alert coz its pretty sensitive and my BP dropped and I was fully struggling not to pass out in case I scared the boys but in hindsight they're use to be fainting so they probably would have been fine hahaha but now my arm is a tad swollen and sore! Uhm and yeah she ran me through some stuff so I feel pretty great about everything!! Now just want to see my HCG levels and reassure myself baby is viable and all is good

Thats is great that you really like your MW. So I am guessing she is a different one to the one you had last time?
Regarding not telling family I have my sister here visiting this week so it could also be hard for me not to let it slip and then we are home in September for a visit...another chance for oops. If I can get through those I thnk I should be good to hold off to Christmas.

Sara funny that you took another test. I am so tempted to go get another as I am feeling pretty good today very unpregnant. Pretty weird to want to feel slightly off to feel more relaxed...AH the joys of pregnancy.

Do any of you ladies Journal your pregnancies? I am so not the type to but I did get a journal with my first two. Very very basic just how are you feeling this week type stuff! Since I did it with the first two I guess I better do it for this one too. It is quite fun to look back over too.

YAY!! Our list is growing!!
HUGE CONGRATS littleblue and nannikin!

BoMama - That sucks that the whole family isn't feeling the best! It seems like everyone is getting ill at the moment. Tons of people at work are starting to get the coughs and sniffles. I'm trying to keep clear of it!

AFM - Feeling quite a bit of nausea in the mornings, but not enough to be sick thank goodness! Also like you mumnut feeling a lot more hungrier than usual and even resorted to a cheese burger from McD's after a work function last night...not good! I never eat McDonalds lol. I just felt like one so bad!
We also picked our midwife yesterday. She is so lovely and really easy to talk to. I have my first appointment with her on the 20th. Feel very relaxed now that we have sorted that!

How is everyone else feeling?

Definite pregnancy related nausea here FX that means another boy lol sorry DH
DS1 threw up through his bed at about 10.30 last night then DS2 woke up crying his eyes out - hes got a nasty nappy rash so changed his bum, calmed him down, changed DS1s bed, cuddled him, dosed them both up on pamol and they were ok they slept through til half 6 DH went back to work today but the rest of us are feeling pretty average. Its really cold too, clear skies and frost, so even with the fire going theres a nip in the air.

Hows everyone else?

Oh Sara yay for finding a midwife! Thats a big relief isn't it??! Makes it seem abit more real too

I just spoke to the lady who use to be a hypnotherapist and do hypnobirthing. She doesn't practice anymore but she's going to take me on anyway so I'm pretty happy with that shes sending me some relaxation training cds to start with then once I'm comfortable with them we'll move on to the deeper stuff.

I'm kinda off my food but thats normal for me being preggers. I'm just dealing with constant nausea ATM. The thought of cooking dinner today has me feeling particularly green I have like 6kg of mince to cook up/turn in patties and meatballs, bag then freeze and I'm seriously doubting my ability to keep my breakfast down...

ADVICE PLEASE! I went to see my DR today and all was good, he did a preg test and was BFP. He has sent me for my bloods done - he said to have them done every mon and thurs for the next 3 weeks - is that the norm? I dont remember that from last time, but is has been a while!

Then, he charged me $46 for my appointment!!! How very rude! Apparently they dont get the funding or something, GUTTED! Can i go straight onto my midwife now, and will she refer me for a dating scan?

I never bothered with the Dr at all with my second pregnancy- you dont need to see them. Can contact a midwife as soon as u get a bfp and they can arrange for the blood tests and scans etc.
Ive not heard of having to have all those bloods done- u only need to have hormone levels done if u have a history of misscarridges. Ive never had my pregnancy hormone levels checked even once!

Posted By: littleblue
Date Posted: 02 September 2011 at 7:20pm
I wish i had just gone straight to my midwife, but she is away until the end of the month - i will contact her as soon as she gets back. I do have a history of MC's thats why i think i have to go for the bloods, but 6 visits seems alot, i mean i have one healthy baby. I dislike these first 3 months, theyre so damn scary!

Wow that is alot of blood tests. I didn't get any blood tests in my first tri with my first two and am not going to a Dr this time just straight to my MW at 8 weeks. It must be because of your history.

I agree with you the first Tri is stressful. I try not to think about it too much (pretty unsuccessfully) nd just pray that I get to 12 weeks and then relax.

xx Are you ok with needles littleblue?

littleblue as far as I know antenatal care in NZ is free if you're a nz citizen. You should check into whether he was actually allowed to charge you. My doctors told me the first 3 months of pregnancy related care is free and by then you should have an LMC.
Also I've had multiple MC's and all I had done were my HCG levels and first trimester blood panel. I think your doc is full of crap lol but thats JMO

Kellz how you going with the babymaking??

Haha thats what i thought, im sure he was just talking aload of bull! I even asked my Dr for folic acid, and he told me that there's no point in taking them!! I personally went to the chemist and got my own folic acid, cos i know for a fact i need to take them, i have been taking them during conception too. Can't wait to talk to my awesome midwife!

mumnut - Not so keen with needles no, i might just go for 2 bloods next week - im sure they would be able to tell if theyre increasing with 2?

OMG Littleblue, what a slack Dr!! Every medical professional I've seen usually are falling over making sure you have enough folic acid. Plus it makes it way cheaper at $3. Plus I'm sure that the others are right, you shouldn't be charged for pregnancy related visits.

I had a miscarriage before this one & I only had 2 lots of bloods done, the idea was to do 3 but two was enough to see the HCG rising.

I'd just get on to your mw.

littleblue - I would ask for a refund! My doc said that any appointment relating to a pregnancy (when you are UTD) is free! That is so bad about the Folic Acid too. My doc said there wasnt much point in iodine as you can get enough from the salt that is added in food, but def take folic! What an odd doctor!

Well I am super glad it's the weekend! Didnt get a sleep in though. Why is it that when I can sleep in, I just wake up! Oh well at least I can have a nanna nap this arvo haha

Yeah littleblue I'd demand a refund. What a dick!!

Bummer for no sleep-in Sara but yay for nana-nap
A sleep-in in this house is anything past 7am lol which I got because the boys are sick and I would still be in bed now but DH was being abit pathetic and determinedly stayed asleep til I kicked him coz the boys had woken up at about quarter past 7 not very impressed since I'd had a very disturbed night and wanted to stay in bed and now hes being grumpy while I think I have a sinus infection as well as morning sickness stupid males...

I am very tentatively lurking in here..... I haven't tested yet, although DH and I decided last month that we were going to give up with protection and see what happened. I am now 7 days late... the reason I haven't tested yet is I often have sporadic cycles and got to CD36 last month before AF arrived. I still can't shake that feeling that AF is on its way.. although I have been feeling like that all week and still nothing.

Also I was expecting my breasts to be feeling tender as thats the first thing I ever remember and they are not really any different to usual, unless DH really squeezes. Not sure there is much feeling left there anyway, so who knows if it will be the same.

Feeling a bit queasy this morning, but again I am still not sure if thats because I want to be....

I think I have decided that if I'm not this month, then we will definitely be trying again next month. It is so so scary though, making that decision that you have to live with for the rest of your lives. Has everyone planned to get pregnant in here?

Congratulations to you all, Hopefully I can officially join you soon. Looking forward to getting to know you all in here... (especially you BoMama ;) )

ARGH SPAZ!!!!! Wrote a fabulous long post then clicked the wrong thing and lost it http://www.sherv.net/angry-emoticon-128.html">

OK to recap....
Welcome mgreeff! Did you plan to have such a small gap or was it a surprise?? Either way huge congrats

Sara did you get a nana-nap??

littleblue yay for DH and a sleep-in!! Must admit mine is usually a real hunny but manflu turns him into an arse
Uhm I had hyperemesis with #1 and plain awful morning sickness with #2 and uhm well it looks like it'll be pretty bad with #3 so I don't know if thats coz they're all boys or because I'm just prone to morning sickness Hope it stays away for you!! The constant sick feeling is getting old now lol I forgot how exhausting it is and its only been 2 or 3 days! I'm going to try acupuncture next week (FX) coz it worked for a friend of mine and she gets as sick if not sicker than me and it was a lifesaver in her last pregnancy. Hope its as helpful for me

oooh Lilliy test test test test LOL serious willpower there bella!! Uhhhm #1 unplanned, #2 halfplanned - BFP the month before we planned to TTC and #3 half-planned - we were going to TTC then put it off til the end of the year but weren't preventing and hullo BFP! Yeah I hate the planning part. Parenthood is such a huge responsibility, you realise that more with each child you have. its not just about the baby stage - they'll be adults planning their own children one day and how they live their lives is a direct reflection on our parenting (same as our lives are a reflection of the way our parents parented us).
Lol it'll be nice to get to know you as well BTW

Oooh oooh guess what my chickens are laying woopwoop!! I love spring

And Kel, since you're having fun stalking in here , when is your scan??

Haha, I usually am one too BoMama, although its been a while.

That is such a cute little gap mgreef!! I am sure that will be a whole lot of fun!
I was making sure I had a decent gap this time. I am pretty sure I am well safe!

I have to say that I have been exhausted lately, last night I was in bed by 8:30 and only emerged at 9:30... thank goodness for the weekend!

BoMama, surely third time around you should get some relief on the MS. Surely chickens and Shopping will keep your mind off it a wee bit.
I know I am not even convinced I should be in here yet, but there is no way I could even begin to think about shopping, I am sure I have all the baby carriers and things I could need already anyway.

hey all!

thanks Bomama, the due date calculators all tell me the 10th of May as my EDD and i won't be finding out, team green and yellow all the way :)

not enjoying the constant slight hungover feeling, haven't actually thrown up yet though so feeling pretty pleased with myself.

am i best to start trying to get in touch with midwifes now? seems really early? did a bit of googling the other week cos would like to find a MW who is ok with homebirth, i'm not set on the idea yet but would like to at least have it as an option.

do you get a dating scan as a matter of course? i wasn't too sure whether or not to book an appt with my GP - i picked up a repeat of FA and iodine this week without one....

welcome to the other newbies, i'm so pleased i have the oB ladies to natter away about all and sundry :)

Aha! Are you an old OBer with a new handle too Lilliy???
How many kiddies have you got?

Yeah well after spending all week wishing I felt abit sick so I knew I was preggers I am now kicking myself and sulking I've given over the care of my chickens to DH with the excuse that I have to be 'safe' which is really just me being lazy lol and as for shopping well unfortunately with 2 kids and a habit of preparation I have everything I need for another baby stored by age/size lol I want to buy another carrier and a baby capsule to fit my P&T buggy but unless this bubs turns out to be pink I kinda don't have anything else to buy. so. dumb. I will have fun buying some more maternity clothes but if my last two pregnancies are anything to go by I've got months before I'll need them so yeah. sulking. LOL

nannikin yay for not throwing up rinse your mouth if/when you do though coz morning sickness does bad things to good teeth!
I reckon you could get a MW now. In fact considering the national shortage its probably a really good idea!
If you know your dates you don't need a dating scan and you can just wait til your 12 week NT scan (if you decide to have that). You don't get to see much anyway and TBH if its too early and you don't get a HB or they have measuring issues it can just be stressful (go stalk some of the other due date threads to see what I mean!) so yeah thats my opinion hun but of course discuss it with your MW

Hi ladies, Yep Tamzyn was a honeymoon baby although we were trying for a year before and nothing happened. We wanted them close in age but it was a surprise that they will be this close.

My sister and I are 11mnths apart and we are close so I am hoping for the same here. BoMama we will be finding out what we are having, hoping for a boy this time though but would be happy with either.

I see that some of you are experiencing morning sickness. did you have it with other pregnancies or are they completely different?

LOL thats so cool!! A friend from my last due date thread got a surprise BFP within 3 months of #3 arriving lol almost happened to us but TG it didn't. I like to have everyone sleeping through the night and atleast semi-TT before introducing another player

Morning sickness each time for me what about you? how was your pregnancy with Tamzyn? You might have a rougher time this time round because your body is pretty nutrient-depleted.

BoMama, Tamzyn has been sleeping through the night since she was 6 weeks old so I don't think that would be a problem hehe.

Didn't have anything with her just some complications throughout the pregnancy, feeling a little nauseous at night now but otherwise feeling great considering I have a 3 month old lol
