Hi girls
I am just about to start my sixth embryo transfer - one successful pregnancy and a lovely little bb - followed by three unsucccessful ones in the last year and a miscariage at 7 weeks.
So I don't know what to think now and feeling very stressed. I wanted to hear about what you thought made a successful transfer. Does fresh make a difference vs. frozen? What worked for you? Did you feel different before hand, like really healthy? Did you rest a lot? All of that! HELP!
Thanks

Hi,
I had a fresh and a frozen transfer with both resulting in a BFP.
I was really nervous this time and thought frozen wouldn't be as successful. The hospital told me that they had a better success rate with frozen, which really surprised me.
I had to travel to the hospital so I stayed nearby overnight and just rested. Not sure if that helped. I googled foods that were good to have and I had brazil nuts and pineapple. I stopped drinking coffee completely and only had the odd hot chocolate.
I also had acupuncture for about two months before and I had one the day after transfer and a week later.
Good luck for your transfer and try not to get too stressed. Although I know this is easier said than done :-)

Thanks bikershaz - I'll try brazil nuts and pineapple, both delicious and easy enough. And accupuncture which I had before. It helps to hear other stories

Hi
Great thread. I had one transfer in September which didn't work and hopefully will be having another in November. I am new to all this so will be interested in what others have to say.
Good luck!

The specialists reckon it's pretty much luck but I can't help wonder...
Good luck to you too

I have had both a fresh and frozen transfer with have both been successful. Wasn't feeling quite so positive with the frozen one as the embryo wasn't quite as good as it should have been. I did cut coffee out before both of them and drank lots of water. Other than that nothing different really.
All the best for you

Hi OctDip and others I have had hmmm...three fresh and two frozen embro transfers...the last one was a freshy and finally worked! The only realy difference for us in this last transfer was that I was in a new job so a lot less stressed overall due to having a happier job. I had accupuncture with all of them other than the last one - go figure! but have had accupuncture since.
It was also a particularly good embryo this last time - but in saying that our fist embryo was a very good one too and didn't work. I think it really is just a numbers game and don't think there is much you can do to make it happen for you other than stay positive, smile, laugh and keep trying xxx

Thanks everyone for the good stories. It's nice to hear. Apparently the stats are better for frozen Lulu but no doubt stress is a bit factor.
I am finding out on Monday... but have been far more relaxed this time (altho my husband might not agree with that!). I am hoping obviously but also strangely enough a bit beyond caring if it makes sense. Maybe it is self protection. Que sera sera. Will report soon...

Hi Guys, Its great to hear such positive attitude and success stories, restores my faith in the tretament and above all God!
This is my third IVF with ICSI, have struggles to pull my weigth down by 8 kgs, still am just 80 kgs and although started Buserelin injections on the 25th still trying to limit my diest and exercise as much to keep losing more weigth, but to be honest the injections is giving me constant headaches, run down feeling and no energy.
My question to this group is can you please tell me what kind of diet is good to maintain while on IVF, what foods not TO eat and what should be must haves.I have been seeing a naturopath too, and have been on fish oil, and some herbal supplemens which I have stopped now, only continuing with fish oil.
DH is also on herbal stuff and he is continuing although at the clinic we were told that his sperm that will be used has been made 60 days ago,,,,,,,dont undertsand that.
Thanks everyone,,,,,,,,,and please pass on the good luck that you guys have had.
I hope the accupuncture that I started weekly 3 weeks ago also works, although being on the long protocol, its a long and strenous journey.

hi Jomiracle
Advice from my accupuncturist: best you don't try to lose any weight but keep healthy: lots of fresh food, nuts, lean meat and fish, plenty of water and folic acid and multi vitamins. For exercise, same: moderation. Maybe some walking as the fresh air will clear your head. Personnaly I always put on weight with the hormones, no matter what.
Also if it really stresses you out, have that piece of choc or that glass of wine. The main thing is you feel good and relax.
For men, Menevit is what my hubby was on, special mulit-vitamins for men, but expensive. And yes you are supposed to take it for 90 days before collection.
It wasn't my luck this time so pretty devastated. Not sure what's next.Good luck to you.
Ciao

Just happened to read in the Fert Assoc handbook that there is some evidence that drinking lots of water and milk (3 litres a day in total) may increase pregnancy rates. Can't hurt, though a bit inconvenient!

If you do drink milk, make it organic. Normal milk has female hormones in it that they give the cows and that can't be good.
