It's my DD's 1st Birthday Party next week & we are having an outdoor afternoon tea. Im lacking ideas for food tho... Im going to do fairy bread & ham sandwiches cut into butterfly shapes (kinda loosely the theme) and cheerios - any more ideas please! x

Great idea SethsMama! The party is at the park & there will be quite a few adults aswell as kiddies, so im not sure what to do for the adults...?

I'm sure most adults would be fine eating what the kids eat.
It's a nostalgic thing :-)
Otherwise bread, crackers, cheese, pestos etc are easy picnic foods.

Fruit - chop it up beforehand, and both the kids and adults will love that

I always find that the adults are at least as keen on the cheerios as kids are - and generally more keen! You could do mini quiches for the adults too.

If you do cupcakes (or just plain biscuits) you could decorate them with butterflies on top. For my daughters birthday I did butterfly shaped gingerbread biscuits and decorated them with those writing icings from the supermarket. They looked pretty effective.

If it's only afternoon tea though I think what you are already planning plus some fruit cut up and something a bit more for the adults would be plenty.

Those butterfly cupcakes are gorgeous from the Edmonds book!

Fruit kebabs are always popular and a platter with cut up vegetables, rice crackers and a hummus dip always goes down well too

At kids parties I always head for the cherios haha, they're so yummy! But when I make them at home they're never so nice :(
