I really want to shift about 10kg - probably 15-18, but 10 would have me lower than I have been in years and probably a comfortable maintainable weight.

But I just can't seem to get my butt in gear.

I have been browsing and lurking and some of you have lost MASSES - so what did you do or follow.

I have a goal, its June, i am moving back to the UK after 6 years of being away and I don't want to return as I am.

I appreciate it needs to be a lifestyle change and that its not a diet but I do need a kick start.

HELP

Mine was everything in moderation - I cannot deny myself something otherwise I ended up eating it and having far too much. I also needed to exercise - something little most days. Drinking heaps of water also helped me. Don't try to change everything at once and if you have a bad day, don't let it put you off, just start again in the morning. Hope that helps

Yeah it does thanks - I do find that once I slip a tiny bit, my mind says well you might as well eat everything now.

I have started working out a lot, so hoping that will kick me in the right way

I found it was 80% diet and 20% exercise for me. Which is lucky as I struggle to find time/motivation for the exercise part.

My biggest problem was not eating enough fruit and veg, so now everytime I feel like something that isn't "allowed" I make myself to eat a piece of fruit/veg and a glass of water first. I've found that very helpful.
Also a cuppa tea.... by the time the jug is boiled, and tea cool enough to drink, I've usually forgotten what I was craving.

Otherwise its all about portion control for me, and lots of water.
