Hey everyone, hopefully I am starting us off. 2 very faint pos tests, so still feeling a bit unsure but if they are right I should be due around march 11

Congrats maybebaby3, am due with our first on the 2nd March so hoping for a couple of good weeks ahead before our 1st scan on the 16th July.
Have you had your first HCG blood tests done yet, FX but sounds like a BFP to me, even if only faint

Hi ladies found put last Friday I'm pregnant with my first! Been on clomid the last three months and I was lucky enough to fall on the third cycle. Having my dating scan on 16th July but my gp put me at approx 5.5 weeks so due day approx late feb- early march.
Have u ladies started looking for a midwife?
I never realized how much needs to be done eg what not to eat, finding a midwife, going for scans etc. it's a bit overwhelming!

Hi Spunky nice to see you here too, the threat of IUI seemed enough to get us moving so have alittle idea of the FS aspects and am so thrilled for you.
We have a history of MC so are going to use an OB. Will be using Origins in Mt Eden, I happen to know someone who works there who I trust completely and she highly recommends the 2 OB's the work there - also hubby is heading to police college in August so we feel better having a constant specialist available too.
I also have my first scan on 16th July so will be an exciting day for us both.
The food thing I am finding tough, have lost a bit of weight simply because I am concentrating so hard on what I can and can't eat - you are right this whole thing is overwhelming and we are trying not to get too far ahead of ourselves as we MC at week 6 18months ago so a bit cautious at the moment.

Hi Girls :)
I just found out on sunday that i am 5 weeks and 3 days pregnant!!! Very excited, but scared as i have had an ectopic before and lost a tube!! hopefully this will be ok, im having a 6 week scan on Monday 9th and that will confirm dates. My husband and i are excited, we have been married for 5 months !!! im feeling tender breasts, and a bit of discomfort in my abdomen, but not major morning sickness yet !! normal?

Welcome Guest_82479 congratulations to you, I know how hard it is to try and keep focused on the positives, I have had 2 MCs and last week was a real struggle for me but the support on all of the threads has been great and my mind was put to rest when I got my 2nd HCG results.
I had similar symptoms last week, tender breasts and abdo discomfort, always felt like I was going to get AF. Felt a little queezy this morning but am actually feeling really good now. I am forcing myself to drink 3pump bottles of water a day and eating lots of fruit inc Prunes and that has really helped my discomfort.
Let us know how your scan goes and try to relax, easier said than done I know. FX for smooth sailing for us all

Congrats on Ur bfp's! Looking forward to going through this journey with u all.
My boobies r so sore today!
Having my first apt with a possible midwife this morning. See if she's right for me.
Question - can u take too much folic acid? I'm taking blackmores pregnancy and breast feeding gold which gives me 500mcg per day, but my gp also gave me a script of 800mcg per day.
|
Posted By: waterbaby
Date Posted: 04 July 2012 at 10:38am
Hey spunky the nurse at Fertility Associates said to take a min .80g so your 800mcg from your doctor would be the one I would be taking.
I am on Elevit daily, can't recall the amount of Folic Acid in it but is recommended by FA, they said often the store bought ones do not have enough Folic Acid so I would def use the Dr's one.

i only started taking folic acid this week (5).. hope its not to late, but we weren't planning a family this year, and i only just found out so i guess well have to wait and see.

Hi guest
Picking a midwife is a little daunting so Ive found out. Was given a list of names and numbers of recommended ones so I called them all to book a time to go in and find out a little more about them.
It's been really good as I've already crossed some off as I didn't feel I had a connection with them.
You just need to find one that works best for you and who u get on well with :)

You need to "Join" OhBaby - go to the Home Page and where it says login click join and follow instructions.
If you have already joined you should be able to do this under your "Profile" - hope that helps.
Calling you Guest_82479 isn't quite the same

Also the Lilypie thing threw me for a while but finally figured it out.
When you go to the area where you get the "Get Ticker Code" there is above the code in purple a whole heap of "garbage" and beside the one that says Forum Signatures" click on the one that says PseudoHTML and that will give you new Code Snippet, paste that to your signature and it should work.

Hey there Spunky and Guest,
I'm exactly 3 weeks pregnant...first time, due 19 March. Sounds like I need to start looking for a midwife.
I'm very excited, nervous but the hardest thing is not telling my work colleagues as it's very early days still and I'm worried something may happen, but trying to be postive.
It's great to hear there's others that are going through a pregnancy at the same time as me!
Guest, if you go to Edit Profile you can change your your "guest" name :)

Welcome Dream2013, the work thing is killing me although in someways lucky it is winter as its going to be easier to hide bump under a winter wardrobe for a few months until the time is right
Trying to stay positive I found very difficult last week but this week has been much better and easier after getting our second HCG BT back, just rest lots, eat right and keep up some light exercise to the keep the happy juices flowing
Guest I hope that your scan goes well today FX crossed and keep us posted.

Thanks WaterBaby for the advice and positive words. I just looked at another website to see how big a "baby" is at 3-4 weeks....it just a speck right now, smaller than a pea! I was a bit shocked as I took a sneak preview at 13 weeks and by that time he/she is really starting to take shape - very exciting.
I don't feel sick yet, just a bit tired. Does anyone know when the sickness normally kicks in? I'm hoping I'll be the exception to this phase

Hi megnz great news, must have been great, can't wait for our first scan.
Dream I am nearly 6weeks and MS not kicked in, some friends have had it hit right on 6weeks and others have had none at all, just depends on each person I think so hope none of us get it too bad.
I have had to call the nurses at FA this morning as have been getting some jabbing pains in my lower right side and my sore boobs are now no longer. We lost one 18months ago at 6weeks so very nervous to have to wait to Monday for another BT so feeling a little this morning.

Glad you are not having MS yet, I had the taste thing for a couple of days early on but didn't last thankfully as I love my food.
I have scan booked for 16th too, perhaps I will look at setting up some scan dates & due dates for us here soon so we can all keep up-to-date on where everyone is at

Hi ladies,
Have just edited this post as realised I'd posted in the wrong thread (intended it for the TWW thread....drr!! brain was a bit scrambled yesterday).. sorry if it confused any of you reading...
Wanted to pop in here and say that yesterday I tested and got a faint BFP, tested again this morning and got a darker second line so looks like we're due in March too.
Really very happy as been TTC#1 for over a year now, but have had 2 mc's - so more overwhelmed than anything TBH. Gonna stay positive though and look forward to getting to know you all
Have a great weekend.

Hey Ladies
I am freaking out a bit, have 15 month old ID twins after 5 years fo fert issues and just found out i am pregnant naturally!!! HAve taken 3 tests all really strong responses. Seeing my GP this week but must be about 5-6 week. Freaking out about how I am going to cope with 3 under 2 and just with it all happening naturally. Was resigned and accepting of the fact our beautiful twins completed our family. Feeling pretty rough too which is not helping and DH has had to go o/s on business for 2 weeks. Hoping for a smooth journey and wishing everyone well.

Hey - lurker here.
I just had my first baby this March gone and already feel clucky (this coming from someone who NEVER wanted kids until a couple of months before getting pregnant and didn't exactly enjoy pregnancy! - weird). I know I have to wait etc so I thought I'd come and say congrats to those of you who are about where I was at this time last year. So exciting!
Hennypenny - what a story! I hope you manage with preggie symptoms AND the 2 littlies, good luck!
I wish you all well on your journey!

Redtulip congrats on the BFP, you and I have been very much on the same journey so understand the times of being anxious and trying to stay positive.
HennyPenny, congrats & WOW. Family certainly wasn't quite complete obviously
Got BT results on Saturday and HCG levels progressing well so certainly has put my mind at ease. Now stuck in bed with Flu and started to feel some queaziness this afternoon, hoping its more the flu than MS.
Hope you all have a good week.

Waterbaby - fantastic to hear about your BT results! Yeah, our journey's have been very alike so its really great having you here... feeling alot more positive than last time so thats gotta help. Was supposed to have first FA appt this friday so going to cancel that tomorrow. Have made one with my GP for Wed.
Hope you're all having a lovely, warm evening.

Hey ladies,
I have been lurking in here the past few days - wanting to come talk, but feeling a bit hesitant to. Found out I was pregnant last Thursday - totally a surprise! I have had two miscarriages since December, so in April (after the last one), I'd thrown my hands up and let it be. Have felt preggy but have ignored the symptoms until I finally went and did a test, and wow, massive extra blue line! Immediately went to doc's and got first BT's done - 5,500hcg. Then yesterday got the second one done, got the results today - 18,500!
So, looking good so far! Have never had results this good in any of my pregnancies. My first one was a blighted ovum and found out at 12 weeks, second I was only 4 weeks.
So...feel nervous coming in and saying hi, but hoping for the best and feel for other nervous ladies out there too!
Oh, and I think I'm 5w/5 days. My cycles have been 43-46 days since my first miscarriage, this was the first time I ovulated normally - must have been meant to be!!!

Welcome and congrats to newbabe and shakeybaby.
MS has been pretty bad these last couple days. Struggling to eat anything other than salada crackers. Started blackmores morning sickness today so fx it works! I really hate being sick. Feels like I'm dying! I have stil yet to get my first BT done but my gp told me my midwife will take care of that - havent yet found one so need to get into it in the next few days.
Newbabe- yes its pretty awesome knowing u have another lil one growing inside you, loving my body as well

This is also my first, and although i am a bit nervous; Most of my friends are older than me, and are kindly passing on all of their wisdom and advice...
This is very valuable when trying to find a midwife...
Huge breakouts on my face, and waiting for MS to rear its ugly head (maybe not fingers crossed).
Spunky- My friend told me ginger beer helped ease her MS. And cheese on crackers
Had my blood test already...just a little dehydration causing some of the levels to be on the higher side of normal

Welcome shakeybaby3, newbabe & POok1e
Congrats on your BFP's and shakeybaby3 great BT results - its such a relief to get good BT results when you have had MCs.
Spunky MS is starting to hit me too generally in the afternoons and evening, I have found crackers to be the best and also hot weetbix with milk & brown sugar which tends to give me a bit of an energy boost too.
Have booked our OB which is great and have our first appt with him on 25th July so things starting to fall into place. Just hoping for good first scans for us all.
Hennypenny how are you getting on, hope the twins are behaving for you

Thanks for all the welcomes and kind messages - it's so nice chatting to people! Hubby and I are keeping closed mouth until 13 weeks...Learnt the hard way!
How's everyone going? MS has kicked in...Starts about 10-10.30am and I need to stomach down food. Lunch makes me feel better, but sometimes feel quesy til early afternoon. Totally fine by dinner, which is awesome, since I love dinner!
Also, sore boobs, emotional etc. Had a wee meltdown this morning, thinking by boobs didn't feel as sore, but they're back to normal now. It's so hard not being in control! Happy too that I feel queasy, didn't at all in my last ones.
Hope everyone's spirits are up!

Shakeybaby I had the same with the boobs suddenly not sore and had a panic last week, BT came back good though so felt better.
I am in the same boat only telling our mums & dads at this point as we too learnt the hard way - certainly didn't have any MS during our last two MCs also so the queezy feeling although at least makes it feel like we are progressing.
My hard part will be weeks 11-30 as DH leaves town for 19weeks so trying to get as much done before he leaves including him running around after me which I think is fair enough seeing he won't be here.

I read that your hubby is going to police college, waterbaby? My husband was going to go into the police, but in the end, it wasn't the right thing for him. As it is, he's starting an apprenticeship at my three month mark!
Does anyone have any meals that are good to take around with you? I have the snacks thing down, but I'm so hungry and sick that I need meals. I'm relieving for work tomorrow and Friday and so worried about feeling ill!
Went and got Blackmores today. So happy I'm feeling sick, but it's hard!

Yes he is off to Porirua in August, am super excited for him and timing while not perfect we think is "meant to be". Will be tough few months for us both although he will be fully occupied and me well we will see It definitely is a big decision and has to be right, hubby has always wanted to be a cop so is certainly his calling.
The meal thing is sooooo tough, I love my food (not so much now) but have found soups from the chilled section are fantastic, especially chicken chowder & pumpkin which are bit bland but seem to be best & easy to heat in the mwave. Other than that I have also found meals like weightwatchers frozen meals etc to be good too - I zap them for an extra 60secods to ensure they are piping hot.
The only other thing is fresh fruit salads with a new small pottle of yoghurt & maybe some crunchy cereal on top for fibre - while it sounds more like breakfast it is quick, easy, nutricious and tasty.

The fruit salad sounds sooo yummy! Today it was so hard eating lunch, the only thing that made me feel better about 3pm was a cheeseburger! Oh dear. But I quickly became hungry again. Yikes, really don't want to put on tonnes of weight!
Soup sounds like a good idea. Surely making a big batch and freezing it would be safe? I'm so paranoid about what I can and can't eat.

I don't see any issue if you freeze it especially vege soups - I am so paranoid too and it sucks that so many foods I love are on the no go list.
I have actualloy lost about 1.5kg just from eating right but miss my soft cheeses, the odd soft serve ice-cream, the odd bakery creamed good and medium-rare steak
Oh well it will all be worth it. Hmm I think I should make soup now rather than paying the earth at the super market, weekend mission sorted
Good luck relieving tomorrow, hope the MS is kind to you - also if it gets bad I have seen a couple of site recommend motion sickness bracelets - not sure where you can buy them or how they work butu ceertainly no one mentioned they were harmful.. Acupuncture is another option too I have been told to consider.

Hi everyone,
I've just hopped over from the Feb thread, (we thought I was due 27th of Feb) but I had the dating scan today, and my EDD is now the 5th of March.
I've just been reading everyone's posts - especially the latest ones about good meals. I keep getting really worried about what to eat, and then think about what I can eat for so long that I feel sick because I've let myself get to hungry, and then the sick feeling just puts me off eating!
I had a really good Watties tin of Veggie soup this moring (omygosh it was actually amazing) and have concluded that I must learn how to make soup just like it!
Does anyone know any good, easy, veggie soup recipes?

Man, I have been so hungry today! Feel like I ate heaps and had about 7 cups of tea. Probably not ideal!
Otherwise, no other symptoms just yet, spent the morning at work googling what I should be feeling, doing, etc. I have no idea! Booked a dr appt for friday though. At least I got that sorted :)

Hi eetie I know a really yum vege soup recipe. Get a "king" vegetable soup mix from the supermarket. Put in a large pot 3.5-4 litres of water. Add soup mix, grated carrot, diced potato, chopped celery. Can add pumpkin Or bacon hock as well (my partner and I always fight over the bacon) haha. Boil the soup til the bacon comes off the bone. Then once it's off, pull it out of pot to cut into smaller pieces.
All I want at the mOment is a marmite and cheese sandwich. Don't have any marmite in the fridge do I've resorted to buying an overpriced jar on trademe, but it will sooooo be worth it when I get it on a piece of toast or sandwich!!!
Decided on a midwife today which I'm really happy about. Go to fill in the paperwork next Wednesday.

Thanks Spunky, that soup sounds really delicious! I must try it.
I've also been craving marmite like crazy (which I usually HATE marmite, so it's quite weird for me) luckily we had a massive jar of it from ages ago that had hardly been used, and I've now used up half of the thing just making cheese, marmite and spinach toasties (they're really good, even though they sound a bit gross!).
Have you thought of resorting to Vegemite?

Welcome Eesti, agree that soup sounds amazing too.
Now I am craving Marmite & Cheese Toasties (sorry Eesti not sure about the spinach )
HennyPenny I hope you have one heartbeat on your scan next week too, 3 under 2's will keep you busy enough.
POok1e we can see your ticker so you have it sorted.
Spunky glad you got your MW sorted and are happy, a good check off the list of things to do, was glad when we booked our OB so feel a bit more in control and a bit more real.
AFM - Another BT tomorrow and then first scan on Monday, which is exciting - will try and get a Due Dates and Scan Dates started as we will all start to find out when we are due soon.
Also Eesti the ticker thing is pretty simple, instructions can be found in the Forum Guidelines under Frequently asked questions. I got stuck when it came to copying over the code, you need to select the code beside "Forum" in the Lilypie site, any issues PM me and I will explain
Have a great day everyone.

Morning everyone, hope you all slept well.
That soup does sound nice. I only make two soups - pumpkin and spicy lentil soup. Will have to try them and see if they make me feel better.
It's so comforting to know other people are feeling sick too. Yesterday I felt sick all day, almost no reprieve, and if I wasn't feeling sick I was feeling hungry. Only one bad day and I feel discouraged! The thought of three months or more makes me want to cry! I took my first Blackmores tablet last night and def made a difference, took one this morning and I feel better, but its still there, just not as bad. I just forced down some Wheet-bix.
You guys are so lucky to have early scans. My DR has never given me one and said that the only way I could was if I had weekly BT's and it looked like I could miscarry. Are you doing them privately or publicly? It would be nice to see the little one and know him/her is there and beating well. I'm supposed to be due on the 7th March.
Hennypenny - you seriously rock and I think that you'll be awesome, keep counting down the days!
Hey Esti! Welcome to March babies. It's nice to have so many here already.
Should we do like a due date thing like other threads do?

Hi there waterbaby, I've just been reading your post am I thought I would try and make life a wee bit better for you. You absolutely can eat cheese in nz when you are pregnant, there are strict laws and guidelines in place with frontera that ensure all dairy is pasturised so it's safe. The 'no soft cheese' is an overseas thing because they don't have to pasturise which is where the bugs can come from. You can also have an store bought mayo if you have cut the out as they are heat treated to extend the shelf life and therefore don't actually contain raw egg, you just can't have home made.
Hope this makes your pregnancy a little bit better.

Thanks Jannah, hmm interesting about the soft chesses as I have been told to keep away from Brie & Camembert - have substituted for Parmesan and Vintage Cheddar so seem to be managing with those
I have to admit I have still been having Best Foods Mayo this week as it has been palatable but am avoiding Mayo when we go out because I imagine it is homemade.
Thanks for taking the time to let me know, am sure the other ladies will get some relief too as we are all struggling a little with food..

We are having early scans as we have been going through Fertility Associates as we had unexplained fertility issues and also a history of MC so they are doing our early pregnancy monitoring - so I guess it would be considered private

Hi Ladies!
Have been feeling so hungry today; although not sick, so I guess thats a good thing! My SIL is 16wks PG so there has been a lot of baby and pregancy talk in my family the last little while so I know my mum never got morning sickness so here's hoping I'm the same
Thanks Waterbaby, got my ticker sorted, I realised I had copied the wrong code over! Oops.
Oh, and I'm roughly due 13 March. Doctor's Tomorrow AM!!

Hi ladies,
Welcome to all of you that have just joined in!
Waterbaby - are you able to go and visit DH while he's away? Fantastic he's following his dream, makes work so much more satisfying... and less like work! I'm sure the time will fly - and we're all here so always us to chat to!
Hennypenny, you're a Star! Hope you're feeling a little better and good luck for your scan!
Spunky - I'm paranoid about food and things too, think we probably all are. Saw my GP yesterday and she said that pretty much anything is fine to eat provided it is cooked through and piping hot.
Just out of interest, asked her about decaf coffee and she said it was absolutely fine and that she wouldn't worry about normal coffee/tea either. Also asked about hot baths and showers as I love them - said she wouldn't be concerned about them either. Her main advice was to be aware of listeria and no hard core exercising like mountain biking, triathlons... hmmm, no chance of that happening - EVER! lol! Think my paranoia will keep me out of the bath and on decaf - makes you wonder how much you should trust what you read though.
Other than that, our due date is 19 March (TBC). Had all my BT's done and also having quantitive HCG BT's done over the next 4 weeks just to keep track of how we're going. GP text last night to say 1st one was good (110), so put mind at ease seeing as such early days. Will have dating scan done in first week of August, so just waiting to hear back re appt time/date.
Hope all of you with MS are feeling ok today, other than needing to pee alot I don't have any symptoms so just counting myself lucky at this stage.
Would you mind adding me to the list please waterbaby?
Thanks very much

Oh, re the early scan question - my GP has referred me for a 'dating scan' even though I'm certain of my dates. She said she can only send me for an early scan if she has a reason so 'dating scan' it is. Only wants me to go see things are ok because of my history of mc's (also the reason for the weekly HCG BT's). Guess if you said you were totally unsure of your dates your GP would refer you to have one done too?

Will add you now redtulip.
Ohh good to know about decaf coffee, I am so paranoid about food & cutting the coffee has been tough, its my vice that is for sure - have had a couple of small decaf although doesn't quite taste the same BUT does keep weary eyes at bay as we do a Mon/Fri coffee run and have been trying to avoid or get hot chocolate I also love baths but am sticking to showers too.
Will be able to visit DH just expensive to fly up & down + rental car, accommodation etc and he will be studying too so will try and do every 6weeks and see how we go, have business in Wgtn in Sept so will try and tie it in.
Had a couple of good weeks of exercise but have been struck with a sinus infection/flu which is lingering due to lack of anything one can take medication wise so hopefully in weekend back to some walks & cycling at the gym.

Redtulip - LOL. You made me laugh about the triathalon thing! There's no way I would be caught dead doing that!!! Thankfully, we have a big energetic dog that needs long walks most days, so that's my exercise...keeps the extra flab at bay! Although, I struggled to lose the small amount of weight I gained during my first pregnancy. Hoping I don't gain too much!
So good to hear about all the food stuff. Just went grocery shopping, bought lots of fruit etc. Was going to make a creamy pasta tonight, but didn't know if wine cooked in a meal is okay? I forgot to google it before I went shopping, so will do something else.

Hey Shakeybaby3, pretty sure cooked wine in food is ok as the heat burns off the alcohol. But better check just in case.
Speaking of wine, this avoiding alcohol is going to be so, so hard! I work in the industry and definitly not keen on telling my boss just yet, so the new vintage/product tastings and staff drinks are going to be awkward.
Managed to avoid one last night, only just though!

Oh POok1e that sucks..hmm maybe you will need to be on "antibiotics" at the time of the next one, of course everyone knows alcohol and medications are a no no
Was going to do chicken baked in wine last night and decided against it as I too wasn't sure, thought best to avoid it but think you are right POokie that heat should burn off the alcohol.
Just had a terrible bought of feeling but seemed to have worked out if I start to feel hungry I need to eat something small straight away and the feeling subsides really quickly - I must be more organised with my snacks as still 5 hours of work and I only have an apple left, crap

Hi ladies!!
Just confirmed I'm due with my second in the middle of March! I think around the 15th.. but I'm hoping to get a dating scan done as my cycles are weird and I'm not sure :)
Sorry I have't read too far back, but hope everyone is coping well and MS isn't too horrible!
I found with my last one in the morning I would make myself 'snack bags', carrot stick, cucumber sticks, crackers.. just things that were easy to nibble on to keep the queazy at bay but also not feel super bloated from eating too much. Hope that helps for some!
The food thing is really confusing, so many things say different things! Altough I have to say.. last week I had a drink, some medium rare meat and some sushi... oh well!
Last time round I was super paranoid, but this time I think I'm going to be a bit more relaxed.. Not going crazy or anything and still avaoiding deli foods, raw egg, leftovers etc.. but last time I cut out mayonaise.. and I don't think I can do that again!
Also, for those who want to cut down on caffiene.. Bell Tea makes the Bell for Kids range which is naturally caffiene free, I've been drinking the honey and vanilla one, its really tasty and I don't need to add sugar (win win!)
Anyway, FX for all those with scans coming up! I have texted my MW from my first, just waiting to hear back but she said she was free for me :) she was lovely and I had a nice natural birth with my 1st so hoping for that again :)

Welcome Keolyn and congrats on your second! It's great getting such a big group! And thanks for the food advice...a friend who's about to give birth to her second was way more relaxed the second time round too...She said she ate sushi etc and baby is healthy and ready to come!
Had a much better day MS wise...hopefully it's the Blackmores working! Actually enjoyed lunch today. Seems I need to eat something decent every 1 1/2 hours and snack on something in between.
waterbaby, it's good your getting your routine down well :)
Pookie, the idea about antibiotics is a good idea...I don't usually drink much and stick to lemon lime and bitters, thankfully people know that about me. I knew a friend was pregnant when she had lemonade instead of wine! Lol.

Gah tried to update my ticker.. all I did was replace what was there with a new bit and not its gone! humph. I always have trouble with these things!
With the food, I'll just stay away from alot of fast food stuff (unless its McD's or something where its way over cooked there's nothing left in there lol). Mainly cos places like sushi, subway etc.. its hard to tell how long things have been out for, and the workers personal hygiene always is a worry for me anyway (I'm a trained Chef lol) but each to their own! I know people who ate subway and were fine with it :)

POok1e I think you have your out for a little while after your Dr's visit, this will buy you a couple of weeks & of course chest infections take a lot more time to get back on track
Keolyn I will add you to the list and like many of us can update your Due Date after your dating scan.
newbabe glad you have your MW appintment sorted, makes it a little more real I think

Hi everyone,
Have been lurking for a few days meaning to join in.
This will be baby number 5 for me. Baby number 4 was meant to be the last one for us but this one must have really wanted to come and join our big family too.
Not feeling to sick at the moment unlike all my other pregnancies, make me feel slightly concerned but i am sure all will be fine when i have a dating scan on 17th of july. I think i am due the end of February but my babies are always overdue so would expect to be having this wee one in March.
Haven't been overly hungry but i am sure that will change once i am past 12 weeks along if its anything like my other pregnancies
Work is extremely busy and being pregnant i have been noticing how tired i am getting already. hopefully i don't get snapped snoozing at my desk LOL

Has anyone discussed birth plans with their husband/partners yet...
This is my husbands 3rd child, and my 1st. He discussed home birth with their mum, but ended up in hospital both times.
My husband and i would like a home birth, and my friend said i can also even discuss with a midwife, my husband helping to deliver the baby. I know its early days but can't help planning... Would be keen for one of those birthing pools too
healthy snacks prepared today

newbabe have not gone down the birth plan route yet, we are day by day, week by week at the moment and trying not to get ahead of ourselves but am sure our OB will raise it on the 25th so after our scan on Monday am sure it will be up for a little discussion.
POok1e nice miss on the tasting, am sure your Dr visit will buy you some time.
Felt extremely last night but after a good night sleep, no pee interruptions (yippee) I feel better this morning and have also lots of healthy snacks with me too.
Have a great day ladies. Gretz will add your dating scan and we can add your Due Date after that.

Hmmm I do have a question, have you all told family and friends yet? We have only told our mums & dads - although I have yet to tell my dad as our last MC was tough so want to have a good scan Monday before I tell him.
I think I will wait until the 12weeks before telling some friends and then maybe work but will see how long I can get away with wearing bulky dresses/jackets to work to hide my bump.

Hi waterbaby - thats such a hard one re telling people! First time UTD told our parents and my close friends, but asked them to keep it quiet for a few weeks. Then my mums friends started saying 'congrats' when we saw them and we even got a Congrat.card in the post from one couple she knows same week I mc'd... worst part was when i confronted her about it she said "oh, they must have guessed"(.... really?! All your friends are psychic!!?)... caused her and dad to argue too as he was annoyed she'd blabbed.
Next time round we only told a couple of my close friends, then ended up telling the parents when we mc'd again, only because we were so sad they knew something was up.
So, this time round have told 3 close friends again. As much as I'd love to tell my parents I don't trust my mum to keep it quiet so probably won't say till after 12 weeks. We'll tell DH's parents though as they live 1/2 year here and other half in Samoa and they are leaving shortly. His mum has had a mc too so has been DH's support which is lovely. As for work, will wait at least 12 weeks too.

We had pretty much the same experiences with both our MCs too, Mum was ok but Dad was so excited he told my step brothers etc & within a couple of days we MC.
The 2nd time we told no-one until the MC because we were devastated and my mum knows when something isn't right, even though she lives in Australia she called me within 30mins of finding out and asked if I was ok as she had a "sense" something was wrong - love her for it.
Definitely think we will wait till 12weeks although will tell a small group of close friends when DH has his leaving dinner at 10weeks so there is at least some support for us if we need it when he is away.

Afternoon ladies :)
A couple of my close friends know cos they knew we were trying, DH's close friends knew that we were trying but don't know I'm UTD but I'm terrible at keeping a scret and they're here every second day lol..
We haven't told any family yet, although I want to tell my Mum, have to talk to DH tonight about it. I think she suspects though cos I was taking folic acid when I was at her house last week (in Hanmer Springs) and didn't tell her why lol. DH wants to wait until 12 weeks to tell everyone else which is fair enough (scan pic on Facebook is easy for that! lol). Last time we told my MIL and they had told the whole rest of the family before we had a chance to! We were so angry at them! So this time, they'll be the last of the family to know cos it really annoyed us lol.
As for birth plans, I'ld like to do the same as last time I think.. except I'ld like not to be induced if poss (2 weeks overdue, she was born on my birthday!). I had a 12 hour labour with 2 hours pushing and only gas.. and iceblocks lol. I had no tears and no interventions needed so that was awesome.
But like anything to do with babies.. you can only plan so much, and it pays not to have your heart to set on something cos it can be devestating if it doesn't work out!
I think this time I would like to try the pool at the hosipital for pain relief, I had like 3 showers last time and they were great but the standing made me dizzy, but I wouldn't like to birth in the pool...
Sooo tired today! I have to make a wedding cake and 90 cupcakes today too, with little miss 13months who has been sick and won't let me put her down and wants to sit on me all the time.. fun times. Not feeling sick yet though thank goodness!
Hope everyones enjoying their healthy snacks! DH left me at home with a whole packet of toffee pops..

Oh Keolyn a wedding cake, 90 cupcakes, a sick 13month old & pregnancy what have you got yourself into today, you really are a
Nice to hear what your experiences were, I love the water but don't like the idea of the waterbirth so maybe a pool option as pain relief might be a nice median for me, in water is where I am most comfortable.
Have to love family, they always want to be the first to know and let out the news, difficulty with 2 split families is 4 lots of parents & partners to tell and try to keep it secret.
AFM just got my BT results and they are super, HCG levels are over 50,000 and have more than doubled in the last week so I am extatic and now really looking forward to Monday scan.
Keolyn toffee pops sound so good right now & would give a much needed energy boost, I am struggling with the tiredness today also. Have been the hungriest I have been today and am struggling to keep up with the hunger pains, although couldn't even get through half my lunch so DH polished it off for me no worries

Glad the HCG levels are awesome waterbaby! I havent had any bloods yet... moight chase up my MW lol.. althogh I texted her in a 'take your time, call me when you can' way lol.
I'm a fountain of knowledge when it comes to thsi stuff now.. I went a bit OTT with my first and the research I did lol... but it all turned out well :)
Half the toffee pops are gone..
I waited ages for the cake to cook, quickly rushed off to have a nap while DD was still asleep, then the neighbour started hammering! then DD woke 15mins later.. oh well

Doctors appt was fine; got my bloods done straight away so should know monday. Do you have to have a second round shortly after to compare?
Booked my scan for next friday the 20th and I've got a meeting with a Midwive then too. Here's hoping she is good and I dont need to look around. What do I need to know about midwives anyway?
Havent told any parents yet, just a close friend of DP and I and my little sister who I happened to see straight after I POAS and got the shock of my life. I think DP wants to tell his folks this weekend, but I dont know, might wait till after the scan to make sur everything is ok.

Hey Guys,
Got up early today my day started around 4 this morning. 13 month old has got the flu and ear infection. So she woke up and the others decided to follow suit. Most mornings the day start at 5 - 5:30 so not much difference.
I haven't told many people, only my mum and closest brother. I will just wait till people start noticing. I have 7 brothers and sisters. As for work i usually just wait till someone notices. I was about 20 weeks when the first person at work knew last time round.
My last 2 babies were waterbirths and absolutely fantastic. My midwife has been my midwife for the last 3 and this one. I know we will discuss homebirth as we always do and this time i may give in as i know i can manage,i just don't know if the husband can
Keolyn - Fantastic you managed all that yesterday. If it was me and the toffee pops i wouldn't have any left
Waterbaby - Awesome levels. I am looking forward to scan next week too.
Okay ladies better go and feed the tribe. Talk to you later.

Good morning ladies!!! Happy weekend!
Had a killer of a day yesterday so too emotinal and tired to post. Got up at 5 (don't usually) to start work at 7, by 9am was transferred to a different kindy until 2, then got asked to relieve at the preschool until 5.30pm. I almost cried! Lol. But, I did it Didn't get home till 6.30pm and was seriously hysterical by that time - tired, hungry and angry at all the road works and traffic around Chch these days. Thankfully, hubby was out til 7.30 so had time to eat ALOT and calm down before he got home.
So today, just chilling! Gretz and Keolyn, don't know how you do it - but I better start getting used to it!
As per symptoms, MS has been great, disappeared after I started taking the Blackmores...makes me a little paranoid, but everything else is good, so trying not to worry. Boobs still sore as, but have changed so I know they're preparing for milk. Crazy! Oh, and have had some sharp pains that I think are growing pains, so not worried about them. Also, pretty emotional!
How's everyone else?
Waterbaby, awesome, awesome results! So thrilled for you!
Hope everyone is having a great morning!

Hello Ladies,
Shakeybaby3- Glad your MS has subsided
Got my first wave of MS this morning, as the husband and i were heading out the door to the market. Shocked at how quickly it came on...I almost vomitted in the kitchen sink
Put a few sick bags in the handbag just in case, but it went away as quickly as it had come on.
excited to be feeling some of the symptoms other than sore, big boobs

Hey everyone :)
Got the cakes done, the bride was really happy so YAY! but omg I am sooo tired! Dont know what was up with DD last night but its like she didnt sleep at all!@ I went to bed at 1am as it was and was up til 2:30 trying to shush her, DH got up to her at 5:30am and I had to get up at 7:30 *yawn! Early night for me!
MS is so strange aye newbabe? I didn't get it to bad with DD but when I did I remember it really well cos it was always really sudden and ususally just after I'ld eaten something..
I remember one day I was at work and was craving mashed potatoes.. so much so that when I got home at 3pm, I boiled a potato, mashed it and ate it. It was the most delicious thing I had ever tasted lol! But as soon as I was putting the last forkful in my mouth, MS hits and it all comes back up! so strange!!
Anyone else feel like they've been hit with the clumsy stick? its driving me mental! I'm dropping things and forgetting all over the place! and I can't blame baby brain yet cos most people don't know!
Glad you got a relax shakeybaby!
Hope everyone has a great eveing

Hello Ladies,
Keoryn- Have been sooooo craving hot chips and noodles in a cup! So totally get the potato cravings So tired of being hungry. And i could devour a few slices of vogels sunflower and barley toasted with butter and marmite...This hunger is meant to last 3 months or so, so im understanding how so many woman put on a lot of weight.
Had a big teary melt down today, about nothing in particular. My husband is being very supportive.
Hope you all have a relaxing evening and no sickness

POok1e I am glad to hear your appt went well and that you have scan and MW appt sorted. I was having bloods every 5-7 days to check levels were rising well, have had 4 in the last 3 weeks and gives reassurance that things are progressing well.
Keolyn congrats on the cake going well, but ohh you poor thing you really sound exhausted, hope you get to rest up
Shakeybaby3 & newbabe I can relate to the wee meltdowns, I had one on Friday after a few things compounded and when dinner turned to custard I lost the plot for an hour or so. A good cry for a bit helped I have to say.
Shakeybaby3 I am glad to hear the Blackmores is working for your MS, mine has been pretty good since Fri, eating constantly little snacks and fruit seems to help hugely
I have also had the "carb" craving for noodles but more so plain white rolls with butter & marmite or crumpets with golden syrup - certainly going to have to watch my self as I already think I have put some weight on having been sick and not able to exercise.
Excited for scan tomorrow although a little nervous too. Part of my Fri meltdown was having a wee scare when (TMI alert) I found some browny CM when I went to the bathroom - completely freaked out, luckily DH turned up at work to see me and caught me just as I came out of the ladies room, which was GREAT timing - he was very supportive.
Called FA and nurses reassured me it was normal and not to worry. Has subsided today which is a relief so hope tomorrow will bring good news.
Hope everyone has a great week - Spunky good luck for your scan tomorrow

Thanks redtulip.
Scan went great this morning, dated as expected bang on 7w2d so due 2nd March 2013.
Quite surreal to see the little heartbeat fluttering away too and was surprised to also get a print out to take with us, DH simply said "AWESOME" which is pretty emotional for him
Spunky how did you go today?
Hope you all had a great weekend.

Thats fantastic news waterbaby!! You must be so happy!
AFM - went back to work today after being on holiday last week and my boss made me redundant!! So didn't see that one coming - was in shock for a good hour or so afterwards. Gave me 3 mths notice but the real stinker is that chances are by the time I find/start something else I wouldn't be entitled to any paid maternity leave. Also feel I'd have to tell a new employee I'm UTD out of fairness... in which case who'd employ you? Feeling very bummed out at the moment.

Oh redtulip I am so sorry, that absolutely sucks.
3months notice is one thing but in your situation offers little help - min 6months I think before entitled to maternity leave so if you act quickly you might scrape by - I believe you can choose to leave before this period and they must still pay you so look at that option as could give you enough time to get something under your belt.
I noticed another few girls in the job hunt and temping seemed to be the only real thing that could get them by potentially as limited term contracts, however they were closer to 5-6months UTD - BUT the paid maternity leave would be an issue.
Be thinking of you and try not to get too stressed, easier said than done I know, as your health and bub's is so important.
Sending big hugs your way

Thanks waterbaby... not stressed at all, just gutted at timing... Will mangage okay without maternity pay, just would've been a help. In fact DH reckons its a blessing - thinks she often takes advantage of me so definately no stress from him Interesting what you've mentioned about the 3 month notice - I was wondering what might happen if I found a new position soon - not like you can tell a new employer you can't start for weeks.. might phone DOL after work tomorrow. And you're so right, none of this is that important that I'll let it effect my health
Have a lovely evening everyone, stay warm.

Glad you are positive redtulip and I think a call to DOL would certainly be beneficial as this would give you some breathing space as although maternity pay is minimal it will at least help with nappies & formula....and maybe a movie night with DH
