Hi everyone!
I am new to Oh Baby & this is my first post in the forums.
I am 26 (27 in a week and a half!), live in Southland, and my husband & I have been TTC for nearly 4 years now. I have had an HSG, laparoscopy, and what feels like hundreds of blood tests (good practice for IVF I guess!) to get me to the IVF stage, so I'm really excited to finally be at this point!
I am going to be having IVF in April 2013 for the first time, and really want to connect with other women who have been through the same thing. I'd love to know any tips that first timers won't be aware of, from managing stress, things I might need to know that caught you unawares, bascially anything will be helpful as I am quite clueless
Also, if anyone live in Southland and wants to meet up for a catch up I am totally open to making new friends - especially as I have no friends going through the same thing. They all seem to have babies now - I am an expert 'Aunty'! It's like the old adage "always a bridesmaid, never the bride" LOL
Hope to hear from some of you soon!

All the best with your IVF journey

Hi Punkin

I have just finished my first cycle of IVF and can't recommend acupuncture enough, not just for the benefits to the cycle but I found that Fertility Associates (FA) Hamilton were not so good with the positivity, in fact I often felt like we had no chance of any of it working at all - my Dr didn't think I would respond to the drugs to my AMH being 0.
Whenever I felt deflated from speaking to them and the lack of optimism I would speak to my acupuncturist afterwards and she would have me feeling like it was all going to work out fine.
We got one embryo transferred (which was great as I only had one follicle!) which gave me a BFP just under two weeks ago.

Start Elevit at least 3 months before your IVF cycle is due to start, if you think acupuncture will benefit you then find one that specialises in fertility treatment and arrange to see them sooner rather than later.
Check your library for Zita West's Guide to Fertility and Assisted Conception. This was my IVF bible before and during our cycle and i referred to it frequently.
I'd recommend a few other things but would depend on the reason for the IVF, in my case it was my endo, fibroids and age (I turned 40 in June

Hi punkin
Check out the coping with infertility threads, heaps of info in there and a private Facebook group that you can join, it's fantastic! I was going through my first IVF cycle at otago fertility services this time last year, and my wee fella is now 12 weeks old . Ive posted a few times on the infertilty threads aabout my experiences. Invers library has some good books on ivf, recommend the zita west one. Feel free to send me a private message if you have any specific questions. April will be here before you know it!
