Just wondering exactly what happens? I know i make the appt on Day 1, but unsure what to expect at appt. Silly question but will the dye leak afterwards? Do I need to wear a pad?

They basically insert a speculum and then a tube and the dye is flushed through, they take xrays as they are working. I lay on my side with one leg in front of the other. Afterwards I had a quick shower which got rid of the majority of the dye and they had provided a pad for me to use, I had bought my own anyway. I did leak a bit for the rest of the day but not too bad. I had quite strong cramping for the rest of the day and the day after. Take panadol and nurofen beforehand to help with the discomfort and definitely get someone to drive you there and take you home. Good luck

That was at Auckland Radiology in Royal Oak. No they didn't find anything but I did get pregnant the next month with DD1. Also the first month we tried IUI so hard to know which it was that helped.

Thanks, my ticker is a bit misleading, a single girl on board but makes it pink x 2.

I just had one done a few weeks ago and it was fine. I have a really hard to find cervix and even though it was difficult for them it it didn't hurt. I didn't have much leakage or bleeding afterwards but I did wear the pad they provided just in case. I didn't have much cramping either but I had taken a couple of Nurofen beforehand.

The Radiologist was really good and explained all the procedure as it was happening and then showed me through all the films they had taken and explained the findings.

Good luck with yours.

Off to hsg tomorrow, slightly nervous about it, although mainly worried about what they may find. Do they give you their findings after and will I be ok to drive home? TIA

Good luck!! The radiologist talked us through the results after the procedure. Everyone responds differently, I would take someone with me if I was you, for support and to drive you home if need be.

Thanks frankie, had it done today and went really well. Was expecting it to be awful but it was actually all fine, very much like a smear and havent experienced any cramping so feeling good. Results came back clear....good on one hand but then still no answers as to why we are having problems

Oh that is good! I had a horrible experience so it's nice to hear it's not like that for everyone. Yes I can relate to the feeling, good that there are no problems but you almost want a problem so that you can at least get treatment for it.

Here's hoping this procedure helped or the IUI does the trick
