Welcome Newmum

I felt really dizzy today and also felt a bit sick

I've got some of those sea-sickness bands (you put them on your wrists and they use accupressure points). I think they work great!

I've been feeling really tired the last few days thought.

Hope you start to feel better soon and the best of luck with this pregnancy

EllenMumof2 - 5 Oct

Salifer - 11 Oct

NikkiB, I'm with you on the sickness front, feeling a little off colour the last few days, I just keep nibbling on somthing to keep the stomach full!!!

Salifer, you're a day after me!!! Are you feeling tired also? I'm seem to be fine one minute and needing a sleep the next minute! Not complaining though

Posted By: newmum
Date Posted: 04 February 2007 at 5:03pm
Ellen - i had the scan because we weren't sure of the dates... it would have either been 5 weeks or 11 weeks!! I only had a very light 3 day bleed in December and wasn't sure if I was preggers before then or not. Also I have a great dr. who knows I am absolutely paranoid after my m/c before Joey I have had quite sore crampy feelings today so am a bit worried about what is happening "down there", but I am sure it will be fine.

YAY! 4 October mums already! Nibbling constantly seems to help with the yucky tummy, I agree.

Hi NikkiB

Sure have been feeling tired. Thought that was cause I didn't sleep well on Sat night. Was planning on napping Sun avo but I seemed to make it through the day without one.

NikkiB - when you had your blood test at the doctors did you get the results the same day/next day.

Looks like we might be email pals over the next few months!!!

Hi Salifer
I had my blood tests done on Wednesday and had to see the nurse today for some tests, so I got the results today.
My doctor confirmed pg on Wednesday with a urine sample.
Good luck at the doctors!!!

Cool, thought the normal process was a blood test with the doctor but turns out its a urine test (which I had on Monday with a BFP result!) and waiting to see GP tomorrow for blood test form.

Seem to be a week behind you NikkiB even though we will be a day apart for our EDD!

Still feel like I'm floating on a silver cloud - this really is a magic feeling and one to relish!!!

HI all

I've been feeling really good lately the only downer has been my face has come out bad on one side with acne which happened early with Madison to so i will live.

I emailed the midwife i had with madison and she can look after me again which is great and i will see her on Monday.

I've been looking at doubleprams this weekend as madison will be to little to walk every where and really like the look of the phil & ted one.

Oh NikkiB thats awful. I do sympathise.....I remember the days of my migraines making me vomit.....not the nicest feeling at all.

Finally had my blood tests done today, all went well. Got back to work a little later as I had gone in my lunch hour but no-one seemed to mind!!!

Can I ask when you plan to tell your work you'll be finishing??? I'm thinking I'll leave it till at least the 12 week mark, perhaps even 14 weeks!!!

Posted By: kaw123
Date Posted: 07 February 2007 at 5:58pm
I had to tell work about the pregnancy very early but I'm not deciding when I'm leaving until I see how I feel later on but then the good thing is I don't have to wait till the end of a term I guess... being first baby don't want to set a date say 4 weeks out, then have baby 2 weeks late then have hardly any maternity leave with baby...I'm very lucky I can choose my date later though! and I also want to go to scan first to confirm dates!! (even though I'm pretty sure)

If i was going to wait I would wait till 14 weeks to set a date I think.. just to be sure.. I hope you don't get migranes back Salifer.. some people get them back..and I've never had one in my life but got the 'aura' as they put it and they had to give me codiene and panadol in case I got the headache!!!

I had to tell work last week. I have only told my 2nd manager because he was rescheduling work loads and was going to give the Wellington branch (which I'm part of) more work. Since there is only two of us in the Wellington office, me being pregnant will have a lot of impact. My 2nd manager wasn't the happiest. Asked me when I was leaving and I just said that 'at this stage, I want to work for as long as possible'. He also asked how long I was going to take off and I also replied 'at this stage, at least 12 months'. So I wasn't committing myself to anything - especially since things are so uncertain at this stage!

I will tell my direct manager next week when he comes back from annual leave, so (hopefully) he can be more understanding if I'm not up to my normal standard.

Wow - October seems so far away, but we too will have a little one by then (all going to plan). If we have our dates right - we think its about the 10th, but am having a scan next week to confirm.

This is our first, so its all very new and scary at the moment, but so exciting as well.

I am exhausted and am having the odd wave of nausea, but mainly just feel so tired! Dont want to eat anything except for toast!

So - count me in for the October club!

Congrats SimSam, you're due the same date as we are!!!

I've been feeling yuck all week with morning sickness, so I decided to go to my acupuncturist (and not wanting to speak too soon) I feel great now!! It will be interesting to see how long it lasts. I've got another appointment next Friday to see how I'm going. It just feels so good to feel good again

Hope everyone is going ok and still loving being pregnant

I had an awful day today, but it might just be the heat making it worse! I dont think I moved from the sofa for very long in total. I am lucky as I work from home (obviously didnt get much done today!)
I feel as though I am car-sick the whole time, dont feel like actually vomitting though - so thats at least 1 good thing!
I just keep having to remind myself that this is only going to last for a little while!!!!

We booked our scan today - we are going on the 19th, so then we will know our dates for sure!

My mother advises me that she felt the same way with me - never actually throwing up. I wonder if there is a connection between how are mothers felt in pregnancy and how we will feel? Anyone else asked their mums?

Hang in there NikkiB!

Hi
Can I join too? I think I'm due 30thSept- Oct 1, have to have a scan to confirm. This will be my second baby, my son is 9 1/2 months old, which means they will only be 17mos apart, I'm quite nervous about that!! I will also have the same MW as I had with my son, I'm so glad. I see her on Thursday. I have been feeling a bit nauseous on and off, but nowhere near as bad as I was with my son, which makes me a bit worried... and I'm really tired too!
Anyway, look forward to getting to know you all :)

Hi TC & SimSam.....welcome to the Oct Mummies....seems we're all having a bit of morning sickenss to deal with.

I too feel like I have car sickness but no actual vomiting......also picked up a wee bug over the weekend so have a very very sore throat. DH is at the supermarket as I type trying to find some lozengers that are safe for me to take. I bought some over the counter (DIFFLAM ones) and then the chemist thought it better to not take anything like that!!! Bummer....just have to put up with it I guess.

Saw my midwife for the first time yesterday she is the same lady i had with Madison which is great as i really liked her. Everything looks good expect my blood pressure is up abit so she just has to watch that. Had my bloods done after that to they always seem to find it hard geting it and now both my arms look like i have been shoting up. Haven't been feeling the best lately just so tired all the time and can't seem to get rid of my thrush (sorry if TMI) Hows everyone else going with midwifes etc?

There are a few of us "october" mums now...yay!

As this is our first baby - I have nothing to compare it against! The last 2 days seem to have been a bit better for me, the horrible pukey feeling seems to come in waves now rather than being constant!!

EllenMumof2 - I have terrible problems with giving blood as well, they can never find a vein (I have had it taken from all sorts of VERY painful places), but the lovely lady at Diagnostic MedLab in Balmoral was fantastic! She found out that for the HCG level checks they only need a really small amount so can actually get it out of my finger!!! But it took 7 attempts to find a vein to get enough for my full antenatal bloods - I always end up looking like a heroin addict too! Its quite embarassing for the next few days with all the needle marks and bruise on my arms!

I am going to contact the couple of midwives I would like next week after we have had our dating scan next Monday. (my periods have been very strange for the past few months!) I know that the midwife I would really like is going to be away around the time that I think we are going to be delivering, but I have had a few others suggested.

Phew - am tired now (AGAIN!!) will see if I have enough energy to put the washing out!!

Take care ladies!

Welcome to all the new October mums!!!

I know this sounds awful, but its a relief to know that I'm not the only one feeling tired and sick. I have had two appointments of acupuncture which help the morning sickness a bit. Its the feeling sick I can't handle. The tiredness I can cope with, I'm just going to bed supper early!

I'm trying to eat all the time, what else is helping you guys to feel better?

Yay we're all feeling the joys of morning sickness!!! I have had my hardest day yet today, the waves were constant for about 4 hours this morning and have returned mildly all avo - oh the joys!!!

Snacking seems to be the only cure for me. That and hot blackcurrent juice (instead of coffee/tea)....barkers is the brand I prefer, expensive but I know its 100% natural and full of helpful antioxidents and other vitamins.

oh no so sorry chick big hugs.

Yum Barkers blackcurrent mmmmmmmmmmm I lvoe that stuff, when i was pregnant with haleigh it was ribena.
This oen is no strong cravings really, oh besides me chowing down a packet of pom poms at lunch time

I felt sick and tired in the first trimester to, more so this tiem round because of Haleigh and her teething giving me next to no sleep.
It does vanish then you get a burst of energy and feel like a new person again, when i got my burst of energy with haleigh i went through and completly set up her cot and the basisnette and washed and ironed all the baby clothes(dont ask me why i ironed them) I went all out.

To help with sickness usually snacking on crackers or fruit can help I found so long as my tummy wasnt empty i felt better

Hope you all have a good night.

I do seem to be craving salty things already though!

I noticed I havent been craving fruity things this time, also the fact that fruity things seem to be giving me reflux and its horrible, I can see why babies scream so much when they ahve it its horrible.

Hey Simsam just lurking I have the same problems with my veins but the good thing with pregnancy is that your blood volume increases so if you have to give blood again it should be much easier than usual.

Well - today we are going for our dating scan. I am absolutley terrified! For some reason ever since we found out we were pregnant - all I seem to have 'heard' about is miscarriage. I know that it happens and that its common, but that doesnt mean I want to think about it. (am I wrong?!)

I dont have any reason at all the beleive that there is anything wrong - but am still really nervous!! Guess I am just being stupid.

On the up-side by the end of today we will know our EDD!!

Hello everyone - just joining in. We found out we were pregnant yesterday, so I'm four weeks and one day ...

We've had a couple of m/c before, so we're taking it slowly, and I'm going to be getting weekly blood tests. Had the first yesterday and will get HCG levels back this afternoon, and have a midwife's appointment for Friday. Yeah for those who heard a heartbeat already!!!

Welcome to all the new mums, there seems to be more and more of us!

How exciting SimSam, I would love to see/hear baby's heartbeat.

I have finally found midwife!!DH and I are meeting her today at 1. I'm really looking forward to it...a little bit nervous...don't know why????

Fingers crossed, but I'm having a much better week this week with morning sickness and all. I had a shocking week last week, ended up having a day and a half off work. First half day was because I couldn't keep my eyes open any longer, and the second day was because I got a stupid migraine...haven't had one of those for a while

Hope you are all having a good week!

Thought I was having a better day today - woke up feeling tired (hey whats new?!?!) and felt like I had enough energy to tackle the shopping. Boy was I wrong!!!

I really am very lucky - at the moment me and DH are both working from home - so a supermarket shop in the middle of the day should be quite an easy task! I wandered around the entire supermarket leaning on the trolley feeling like I was about to faint! Poor old DH had to keep moving me on.... he is busy making lunch for me now - what a saint!!

Am going to call Birthcare this afternoon and enrol for Antenatal classes - apparently it pays to book early.

My darling best friend turned up this morning with a gorgeous wooden basinet (that she has used for her 3 treasures) for us to use if we want to - its so cute - I cant believe that we are going to get to put a baby in it by the end of the year!!!

The list of October mummies seems to be growing - think thats great!! Enjoy your week ladies!

Hi everyone. I have just discovered this site and thought I'd sign up. I'm pregnant and my due date is the 17th October. I had a scan today to check dates. It was amazing to see the little heart beating away.

Like the rest of you I've been feeling really tired and ill. Also abit cautious until I reach the 12 week mark.

Congrats Kabe! Welcome!

I have an appointment with a midwife next week, but I had to call 12 midwives before I could find one in my area that wasnt booked already. So - if you are in Auckland, I would suggest that you dont leave it too long to organise (if you are having a MW?!).

I seem to have had a better day today - so its not all bad. I had to go and buy some sports crop tops to wear to bed - as my boobs have been killing me! As I am naturally an E cup already - I sense its only going to get worse!!!

It seems that a few of us are having a better week this week. I have had very little morning sickness...its great. I'm only taking one day at a time though.

SimSam, I know what you mean about sore boobs. I 'sort of' knew that I was pregnant before I knew (if that makes sense) because my boobs were so sore. I'm only a little A cup, but when I get up during the night to go for yet another toilet run, my boobs are killing me. All I can think of is, image what it would be like with big boobs!!! You poor thing!

I was getting frustrated when I had tried 6 mws. I can't believe you had to call 12! I've finally found one thanks to my DH. We found out that a lot of mws are taking returned mums and not 'first time mums', which is disappointing. But because they are private contractors they can do what they want.

Had my first appointment with my lovely mw on Tuesday. I'm booked in for our first scan on the 27 March....I can't wait!!!

Hehehehe - I keep joking that I am going to need a wheelbarrow for my boobs by the end of this pregnancy!!!

A lot of mw's that I spoke to said they where fully booked for Oct already (or their voicemails did!) I only spoke to one who said that she wont take new mums!

I'm glad you are having a better week too Nikki!

Well according to the lovely lady at the midwife place today, and if my memory serves me right, it looks as though I can join this thread too! I don't think it's quite hit home yet, and DH has gone back to work (I'm on holiday this week!)

I guess this means we have some work to do, eg LMC etc, and asking a lot (and I mean alot) of questions between now and then.

Hi Salifer
I've just sent you an email on how to get your ticker going

Otherwise, click on someone else's ticker (if you don't want the Lilypie one) and you should be able to follow your nose

9 new mums for October...gosh the list is growing

Hi everyone

How are you all doing today? I thought I was doing quite well until today . I have't vomited that much yet but when I do it is rather spectacular! My hubby is being very wonderful though - yay for supportive husbands. How is it that you can be so sick and yet still want to eat??!!!

Sunnyhoney, you poor thing. I find that if I constantly eat, then I feel better...also water with a little bit a lime helps me.

It is great having a supportive husband. The other week I woke from a migraine and all I felt like was macaroni cheese. My HD then proceeded to make me some macaroni cheese - he's awesome It must be so hard for them to understand what we are going through.

Welcome numberthree, you're due a day before me!

Due Date dilemma.....?!?!?!

When we had our scan they told us at the time that we had an EDD of 15th Oct. When they sent us the report from the scan they had put 29th September!!! Thats a whole 2 weeks difference!! I mean I know that baby will come when they want to...but that could make a massive difference if I need to be induced!!

I spoke to my GP who said stick with the 15th, then I when I spoke with the MW who I hope to go with she said stick with 29th?!?!!? Apparently they will re-date later on with another scan!

I think all this confusion is because I have been having a 5-6 week menstrual cycle since I came off the pill....so its confusing everyone!!

I am going to stick with the October ladies though - but I might end up being the first!!

Ok, I am going to join in here! I too have a due date dilemma Simsam - I have no idea when I am due, but I know it will be either October or November!

Anyway, my name is Nicole, I am 29 my DH is 28 and we live in West Auckland. We got married on the 3rd February this year and had only just started our ttc journey only to find out last week, surprise - we are pregnant! I am guessing we are probably around the 4 week mark!

Have been feeling a little bit sick around 10am and around 2pm, but I agree just keep eating little bits all day to soothe the naucious (sp?) feeling. I am not sleeping very well as my mind is a little over active digesting the fact we are going to have a baby! We are very surprised we conceived so quickly, but in saying that it was part of the plan and we are so excited (and scared)!!!!!!

It will be great to share our pregnancy journeys together!

Congratulations Peachy! There are quite a few of us due in October and lots of first time mums too. How have people got on finding midwives? I got some recommendations from a MW at work and the first one I contacted was available, so I feel really fortunate. I met her early lst week and she's lovely. Don't see her again until wk 13. I wish the next 5 weeks would hurry by as I can't wait to start telling more people!

I get to meet the lady who will hopefully be our midwife on Tuesday. She sounded very lovely on the phone.
I too have a little confusion over my due date. The doctor reckons I'm 8 weeks but I sort of think I'm about a week and a half behind that. Oh well, if I stick to 8 weeks at least then there's a shorter time to go. But a little worrying when people talk of being induced - what if everything is actually normal and they just miscalculated the date???
We tell our parents in three weeks time(!)

Unless you have any probs they generally don't induce prior to 10 days past EDD so even if your dates are out a little bubs will still be pretty much term. My grmelins were induced at 37w2d by LMP dates, but they were only 36w4d by scan dates...

Is anyone else having problems keeping it 'quiet' until the 12 week mark? I have been avoiding my grandparents - as I cant lie to their faces! We have told our parents and my brother and DH's sister, but thats it.

I find it really tough - especially when I am feeling really lousy and look kind of green all the time at the moment!

I wish the next few weeks would hurry up....

Hi everyone,

My friend recommended me this site. I'm 5 1/2 weeks pregnant, due October 27th and this is my first baby! I'm really excited :) I've told family and friends, useless at keeping secrets and I figure they can be there for me if things went wrong.

So far I have been a bit more tired than usual and the last couple of days my stomach hasn't been normal - wouldn't say I feel nauseous or anything, just maybe a teeniest bit unsettled oh and my breasts hurt when I hug people!!

Nice to "meet" you all and share a little in this journey together I hope :)

I had that dilemma too SimSam! We had to go to DPs grandfathers funeral when I was about 8-9 weeks pregnant, and his WHOLE family was there. And because it was up in Dargaville, we stayed nearly all week, so the whole family got to see me get up every morning looking very suspiciously green! ALL of them asked if I was pregnant, I felt bad lying, so DP just flat out said NO! And then well a month or so later they found out anyway, but then I still felt bad because they must have known I was pregnant, and we lied to them.
