During the day, he will sleep for between three and four hours and then wake up, have a nappy change (by dad), cuddles with dad and big brother and then a feed and then just hangs out for a while before he wants a bit more of a feed and then he goes to sleep again. He is awake for about an hour when he wakes during the day. He will also have either a shower with dad or a bath (by dad) during the day. He really loves the shower.
At night, he wakes up every two to three hours and just has a nappy change and a feed and then back to bed. The midwife said that they don't sleep for as long at night time as something in the breast milk (sorry can't remember the name)is made during the night so that his day time feeds keep him fuller for longer.
Breast feeding is going really well. No dramas with my nipples and haven't had any leaking problems either. Not too painful which surprised me as I remember distinctly that I had a LOT of pain when my milk came in with Christopher. It was awful but it hasn't been like that this time.
He's such a cool baby. Really easy going and happy. Doesn't cry too much. Only really cries when he gets his nappy changed.

The milk at nght doesn't have as much fat in it to keep them full. Good to hear things are going well with Noah Leish.

Thank you
Poor baby has a heat rash at the moment though
It started on Friday and has calmed down heaps now but he's a bit unsettled as a result. Poor thing. He's been having cool baths and sponged down with cool flannels. No fair huh. I am so over this weather.

I hear you Leish, I dressed Krysti cool the other night but she caught a chill! Now she is unsettled because of the heat and the snuffles She also gets heat rashes but I'm getting better at dressing her right. She just generates so much heat when she's sleeping!

Noah's heat rash has cleared up now so he is much more settled again. Poor thing. I know what you mean BM about not dressing them right. He would have got it cos we dressed him too warm. Since then, he has been living in a tee with a nappy and sleeping with only a sheet on during the day and then with a thin cotton blankey at night.
So Bombshell, are you in the downstairs room or have you ventured upstairs?
I soooo know what you mean about the big babies. I thought Noah was a good size but he is the smallest one so far...

Leish we are upstairs at night but DH brings basinette down for day and she hangs out in lounge downstairs or guestroom. I find it hard to sleep during day - heat etc...so have been reading or veging!
BAD night last night...she was settled til i took her up...and then woke her for feed - well she woke! Then from 11 50 til 3am we were UP!!! She comfort fed about six times!!! and woke every time i put her in basinette! ...had two gross nappies and I also ended up with the crappers!!! not good for either of us!!! hmmm there goes freshly roasted coffee outta my diet!!!
SHe and I woke DH...he was NOT amused...he has HUGE work thing on today and looked like death warmed up when he left! He tried to settle her but she was so gripy there was no doing. I ended up taking her into nursery for an hour and sittin and feeding her...she went off finally and slept for five hours...we made a deal while chatting in nursery that if i fed her and cuddled her she would then sleep for at least five hours!!! and she did!!! then todays diapers were gross til about 10am!! mind u i was still the same too!! (TMI sorry!)
she is sleeping again now...tell u when she does sleep she does it really well....
milk is in but not real good flow yet...but then after c section i know that can happen...she hasnt come back to birthweight yet...but hoping she will keep on gaining...was weighed by Midwife this am and is ok. still over 9 pound!!! Leish I will pxt u photo of her in a boys outfit we bought early on = in it today 0 to 3 months and is already too short in legs and arms!!! OMG!!!!

That was such a cute piccie of Gabriella!! She must be long - tall like her parents methinks. Sounds like she is doing really well - besides the dirty nappies. Could she just be a heavy poo-er? Noah has lots of dirty nappies and our MW said that it wasn't anything to worry about. I'm talking about nearly every nappy change has a poo in it. I thought it was something I ate at first.
I find it hard to sleep during the day too. I try sometimes but usually I just don't feel tired.
Sounds like you both had a tough nite last nite. Glad to hear that she had a nice long sleep afterwards but poor daddy!! Hope that his day was ok in the end. Noah was a bit unsettled over the weekend with his heat rash. I would wake, feed him, put him back to bed and an hour later he would wake up again for another feed. That was really tiring.
He has developed this thing where he doesn't like sleeping in his bassinet. He likes sleeping on one of the pillows we use for feeding. If we try to move him to his bassinet, he wakes up after a few minutes but then will fall asleep as soon as he is put on the pillow. Argh!! So, we have started putting his pillow in the bassinet and he sleeps like a log. Funny aye. Tried to put him straight in to his bassinet before but he woke up after 10 minutes and then was really unsettled cos he was so tired so back to the pillow trick.

oh ok...ticker coming!!!! have not been on puter long enough...yest i got thru 34 emails and that was as long as i managed to sit on puter...!!!
Well last night Dh wanted to give her away!! we have had a rotten night last night...she was up from 11pm til 5am and demand fed the whole time on off and would not settle in basinette at all!!! I am exhausted!!! Bit same as Noah - she would be asleep and when put in basinette she would wake and scream and grissle!!! and then start slurping for a feed AGAIN!!!! went down to mum finally at 5am in tears and said i was over it all...got into guest room bed and Gabriella slept on pillow feeding (AGAIN!!!) next to me til mum got Dh up to bring basinette down at 6am and she went into it - slept til 10am!!! little madame!!!
she finally asleep again properly this afternoon after several naps and more diapers....am going to stop my iron tablets in case they making her tummy gripy too! UGH!!!

Poor you. Big hugs. I was in tears one night over the weekend too. It was tough going and I was tired but I hadn't put up with as much as you did last night.
We have managed to get over the pillow thing. I have started wrapping Noah after he is REALLY asleep and putting him in the bassinet and he is sleeping really well again. Hope that lasts for a while at least.
This morning, after we got Christopher off to school, I fed Noah in our bed and Steve got back in to bed and we all fell asleep Noah had a really good sleep on my shoulder and then on his tummy. Shhhh - don't tell the Plunket people.
MW came around today and he is 10 lbs now. Little fatty. He has hormone spots all over his cheeks too. He is doing really well.
How are you managing around the house? Hope that you are taking it really easy and not trying to do too much. I heard that it can take up to 6 weeks to recover from a c-section. Hope that you are recovering well - as well as can be expected with a newborn in the house.

When I was at the hospital I was told that most babies have an unsettled time between 10pm and 5am every night - some or all of that time A lot of it is cluster feeding too but that will start to settle down soon!
Krystiana would poo with every nappy too but it settled by 4 weeks to every 2nd or 3rd change, and most of them are wet...finally! Hang in there ladies, it gets easier

am coping all right with the house...luckily we live extended family situation so mum is on hand...DH tries to help but sometimes is easier to not ask him etc...
Gabriella has this afternoon slept from 3pm til now..she is having daddy and grannie cuddles at moment. Are you having much awake time with Noah at night before he settles? Gabriella is waking, changing, feeding and going off again so by 11pm she is wide awake again. She is sooo hard to keep awake!
we are going to try a nice lavendar bath for her tonight...will let u know tomorrow if that works..she likes the bath the other day - got in peeed, farted and then smiled....LOL!!!

ok ticker updated!!! will put photo on it later...am waiting for Dh to upload the photos.
Well we had a bath tonight - daddys first time bathing her so took heaps of photos...poor kid might have to blur bits out!!! LOL!!!
so far she has slept since 7 30pm...so am hoping to wake her around 10 30 or 11 and feed in hopes she will go back off for quite a few hours tonight...she should be exhausted after last nite too.
we are staying home tomorrow - we did my work and prior work places today..she was cuddled sooo much and everyones favourite word for her was used waaay too much "shes so pretty" - yep gotta stop that or she will get a complex and a swollen head!!!
we do have a funeral to go to on fri tho...a dear woman involved in my work passed on from cancer on sunday. She helped so many of my clients and DH is taking us to funeral. Will be strange as bubs will meet many colleagues of mine in such an unusual environment for the first time but i cannot not go...lucikly it is close by esp in this weather.

Bombshell and everyone else struggling to get bubs to sleep in the cot or bassinette. We had the same problem. I would literally put this on in the cot and she will wake up. I take her out put her on the bed and she is fast asleep.
We took a pillowcase of our bed and put it in the cot and tugged it in and put her in it and she was off to sleep. Take anything of yours that have your smell in it and they should just drift of to sleep. (dont wash it first it needs the smell and every 3 days or so just change it with something new.)
For milk production eat some oatmeal in the mornings with brewers yeast over or oatmeal cookies and drinks lots and lots of gingerbeer. The yeast in it helps.

and almonds REALLY REALLY help milk production, and they tast good, AND, they are "happy" food, they are used in alot of natural and homeopathic depression remedies.
Charlotte is a tummy sleeper, which I fought, but ended up giving in to it. MW said we are low risk for sids and also, the latest thinking is it is a gene fault. Takes nerves of steel, but she sleeps so much better that way. In fact, she hates being on her back for long periods. Usually it is the other way. MW just said DON'T TELL PLUNKET!!!

YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!! I finally made it!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mind you if Elle had her way she would still be tucked up in there nice and warm!!!
I'm soo glad to be home, we are slowly getting settled, Elle also isn't to fond of the bassinet (god she better get used to it cause she won't be in there to long).
Speaking of size - OMG we breed em big in the march club don't we. I had NO idea she would be that big!!!! Thoughts of using the cloth nappies have gone by the wayside as I want to use up as many of the newborn disposables I have before she is too big.
Still am very sore and tender, Doctors told me I would be better to have a c-section for next bubba (rather bad 4th degree tear) especially if its anywhere near the same size, in fact they said I probably would've been best to have one this time but I was determind not too (although I gave into epidural - THANK GOD!!)
Posted a few piccies on other thread, will post more later.
Poor DH (who is SUCH a proud and doting dad) is still fast asleep, I guess alittle shellshocked at lack of sleep, I am quite used to it by now and managed to get a bloody marvelous sleep last night!!!!

hehe SB
I had so much trouble with Krystiana tummy sleeping as well. In the end I basically gave up on "converting" her but she was sleeping in the bassinette in the lounge most of the time and I'd check her regularly anyway. She could turn her head from one side to the other in the first month and that helped me relax too.
But around the 4 week mark she started preferring her back! I don't really understand why, but anyway back sleeping is all the rage in our house now. It works way better for her because if she wakes slightly or goes down only sleepy, she will actually settle herself down if she's on her back. But if she's on her tummy she's only interested in moving her head around.

Hails - again - ouch!!! you poor thing...
almonds and oatmeal...OMG i hate both of those!!!
Midwife has suggested i express to try and get more milk going and to use even off a spoon if need be...she has put back on another 200 grams but is still 400 below birth weight - different scales have given us different weights!
we had a great nite last nite...woke her and had her down by midnight, then she was up at 445am!!! Yippeee....sad but true I am happy for nearly 5 hours sleep! then down around 5 30 or so but up at 6 20..knew she didnt need a feed so Dh changed her and had daddy time with her before she went down around 7am and woke when midwife came around 10 30am...
am on here at moment as she is refusing to go down - has fed four times since lunch and has the hiccups...now why did noone warn me about the hiccups...OMG they damn near break my heart to listen to her...so have left her with daddy for 10 mins! if i cuddle her she seeks out my milk...so daddy has the job of settling her for now...

Ro drink heaps of water as well that helps. I'm drinking about 5 pumps bottles a day (the 750ml ones) and I think that has helped me with the BF. I had so mach trouble with Andrew and BF that this time round I was deteminded to make it work and it has. I am also hand expressing off 50mls when Josh has his afternoon sleep so I don't engorge, I am finding that milk is great for night time so he sleeps longer then. I was told any protein is good for milk production.

If it helps, hiccups generally bother Mum more than bubs - they hiccup in utero so it's a natural state for them, and the advantage is that a baby with hiccups doesn't have wind bubbles trapped coz the hiccups get them all out.
Hails - ouch! I've got my knees crossed just thinking about a 4th degree tear! Hope it heals up nice and quick for you. Ouch again!
Bombshell - hope miss Gabriella settles down for you - she'll find her own routine in another week or so and things will get easier.

5 hours - bliss... We only get 3 hours tops out of Noah before he is awake again demanding to be fed. Noah was getting the hiccups after every feed but that has stopped now and he only gets them occasionally. It is so hard to watch though cos his whole body jolts with them and there is absolutely nothing you can do to help.
Hails - ouch - I crossed my legs too. Hope that you heal up all nicely.
Well, I hate breastfeeding. Is that a bad thing? I guess it is really. I just can't for the life of me get Noah to latch properly on my left breast. He refuses to open his mouth wide enough and I keep having to take him off and try again and he gets frustrated and I end up in tears and I am soooo over it My left breast is soooooooooooo sore that when he starts stirring to wake up for a feed, I don't want him to and I was starting to feel a little resentful towards him for hurting me so much. So this afternoon, I expressed my left breast and daddy bottle fed him with it. It was so much better and he took the bottle really well. Downed over 100mls of milk I will try again once I am not in so much pain.

Ladies, I had similar prob with little miss before I left hospital, and tried a nipple sheild, as it gives them more to suck on. Worked treat, used it for about a week, now shes a lil champion... sometimes wont open wide on rh side, so I just tease her chin down, sqeeze boob flat (sort of horizontal triangle shape), and jam it in. All good. Leish, give yourself another week or so, it is hard, but remember you are both learning still, soon enough, you will be loving it!

Leish I had trouble latching Krystiana on my left side too. After the initial "blistering" had settled we finally found why it was so painful for me: I had a split between the nipple and the areola, so Krystiana was pulling on it every time she suckled!
Anyway I was going to try a nipple shield but my mw strongly advised against them, saying they reduce milk supply and often cause mastitis I got her to show me the latching technique again and what I was doing wrong was supporting Krystiana's head when it's actually better for the head to flop back a bit cause their mouth drops open properly.
Becks if Krystiana comes on and off she's usually not properly hungry or has wind, so I give it a break until she "asks" for it again.
Hope that helps you ladies. Sore BF sucks! Oh and I did Annie's way "jamming it in" too

leish i hope that BF on the left comes right for you soon....Gabriella grazed my nipple the other day so a touch sore when she chomped down on it initially but I too do the push and hold thing and she latches on really well and feeds without pain after the intial CHOMP!!!
ok but i spoke too soon on her being great today...she went down this arvo but then tonight she has fed on off since 6 45pm again til just now...!!! would not go down to sleep and if picked up suckled, on me, my arm, her arm, on grannie...etc etc...so have given in and she has fed for 15 mins plus each time...i think just now was like the sixth time she has fed tonight...OMG help!!! i know she is bringing on milk and obviusly needs it but i ended up in tears just feeding her constantly....i soo need her to be in a routine...i think this is my punishment for being overly organised in my worklife etc....she is going to push my ability to make me sit back and relax and just feed her!!!
Leish Im in tears with you...wish we were in the same city we could cry together LOL!!! and SB thinks she is in a hurry to join us...SB u reading this...???

The constant early evening feeding thing is good, though, cluster feeding, its called, fills up their tummies to go longer without to sleep longer at night. tis frustrating, though. As fellow organisation nazi, I feel your pain in longing for routine, but sorry to say, that won't really happen for a few more weeks yet

well at least it has a name i guess....and i know it is better now that at 2am...but still....
we were also told by midwife to undress her to wake her...sounds cruel but it worked so we now do naked baby feeds initially...she is a litel jaundice but MW said she doesnt look sleepy like a jaundice baby so wasnt worried when saw how active she was...i dont know if she is jaundice but she def has olvie skin...hard to tell from that.
I am out at puter in hopes she wont smell me and demand anymore...she is finally asleep and i know i should be too but needed a breather...Dh is hopeless in some ways - he is snoring!!! he had better not wake her up with it...it sounds like a steam train!

no fair then.
I just put Noah down for hopefully a while. I have cried on and off all night. I feel so bad for not wanting to feed him myself anymore but will persevere cos I know that so many other people go through the same thing and it all comes right in the end.
I have tried a nipple shield - he doesn't like it and won't feed with it. Just gets all grumpy and screams. Yay. I don't support his head when I feed him and let it fall back a bit but he just won't open his mouth properly. I am really hoping that just having a break from that side will help cos the pain is really bad. I have had trouble with this side since he arrived but it has just got really bad in the last day or so. I think the fact that I am so upset about it doesn't help matters either *sigh*
I know what you mean Bombshell - SB, you wanna be doing this... Actually I wanted to be doing this so I can't really talk.
I can deal with his "routine", just not the pain. He isn't really doing the cluster feeding thing yet that I have noticed. Maybe still to come.

Thats everyone for your support. I skipped two feeds on my left side yesterday and Noah had two bottles instead and this morning I fed him on my left side and it wasn't painful at all Glad that I persevered with it. I was so ready to to chuck in the breastfeeding yesterday. Feeling heaps better today though.
Hope you had a good night with Gabriella Bombshell.

well we had a better night...slept from around 10 til 2 45am...but then we did the whole "cluster feed" thing again for near on two hours...In the end her cry was not for a feed so much so i asked DH to take her and change her in nursery - ie away from me!!! He did and took the whole basinette, and ended up rocking her off to sleep...then he left her and bsinette in hall outside our door as when he rolled it she kept waking up...and i think he wanted her away from me for a while too...it worked - she slept til 7 45am.
Mum told me it was too long for her to go thru the nite for the near five hours straight but who knows....i know i got some much needed sleep finally!
oh and i gave in to oatmeal too...but with sooo much brown sugar and had to add peaches to it...so probably defeated the purpose of it all!
Tummy is still sore today...I started bleeding again heavy yest, and it is uncomfortable. MW doesnt think there is an infection in wound but just it is all settling down...ugh....DH had the guts to ask about SEX this morn...u gotta be kiddin me buster!!!

Oooh Leish, I feel so sorry for you!
The pain can be almost unbearable huh?
I had the same negative feelings when I was trying to feed Ella in the first few weeks, every time she woke for a feed I wanted to run and hide from her, I felt so guilty.
I know you've had heaps of different suggestions, so I hope you don't mind me adding my 2 cents!
Has your midwife shown you the rugby hold? I found that Ben really favoured my right boob in the beginning and putting him in this position fooled him into thinking left was right and he latched heaps better. Also, having him in a different position on the nipple gave me a bit less pain as he wasn't rubbing on the same spots every time.
I also swore by Purelan cream before and after a feed. (not too much tho, or they slide off the nipple!)
Good luck hun! It does get better, took me about 4 weeks to be crack and blister free but after that it got sooo much easier.

SEX!! WTF!! He must think you're real trooper huh Glad to hear that you had a better night. Gabriella has such long sleeps. Noah only sleeps for 2.5 to 3 hours and is completely ravished when he wakes up. Daddy fed him a bottle at his 1.30 wake up and he downed 200mls. I'm sure that's a whole lot of milk for a baby his age. He was back in bed before 2.30 and woke up again at 5.30 and then cluster fed for a couple of hours and was asleep by about 8.45. If we're lucky he will sleep till 12.00. Here's hoping. It was a much nicer time with Noah this morning though.
Hope that the bleeding settles down again and that you don't develop any infections. Big hugs

Purelan ROCKS, and so does the rugby hold, I found that with one side it worked well.
Bombshell, ha ha to DH asking about Sex *shudder* my DH is getting a vasectomy today and told me he wants to have the "20 shots before clearance" done by end of april. AS IF!!!!! I still got stitches!!!!!!!!! Pah! MEN! NO IDEA!!! *shakes head in disgust*
5 Hours isn't too long for her to be sleeping, all babies are different. Charly did that from the start too. Midwife said that was fine, not to let her go that long between feeds during day, but at night, that was fine. (we had a wee bit of jaundice as well). Plus, that is great for you and your milk supply and healing if you can get a good strech of sleep like that as well. Like my mum is *always* saying "we did it like this in our day, its all different now"

That's exactly how I felt Mel - and that's why I kept crying. I was feeling so guilty for not wanting to BF him anymore. Poor hubby - this morning he found some news items of bad parenting stories to show me that I am not a bad mother for struggling. Bless. It was cute. He was ready to go and buy a tin of formula and call it a day.
I feed him using the rugby hold. The most comfy one by far. I can't manage the other holds at all. Can I get purlean cream at the chemist? What does it do?
I didn't think of that JM. A 2 week growth spurt - do they have them very regularly? He had already put on a whole pound since being born. 10 pounds now. Can't believe that Hayley gave birth to a baby the size that Noah is now
I am so much more awake today Bombshell. I felt like a big pile of crap yesterday and prob looked it too.

Jacob had alot or growth spurts between birth and 6 weeks. Yep, they def. have one at about 2 weeks, for sure. When I look at JJ's plunket book, though, he seemed to be having one every week!!!
Purelan you can get from chemist, alos Lanisoh is great. both creams you just load up on your nipples and you don't have to wipe them off when you feed bub, they work as a barrier on any cracks and splits, while soothing and healing. Don't forget to aske your mw anything, no matter how trivial you might think it is, that is what she is there for. She might even be able to get a lactation person to come round to see you, if she herself can't watch a feed to see what you could do to help things. Good luck, chick, it does get better, but whatever happens, don't beat yourself up about it, you are doing a great job with your ten pounder!!!! My month old bubba is only 9.4 pounds!!

ha ha bombshell, my dh is hard done by too, he had none in last 2 months as I was sooooo huge and uncomfortable and totally off it. Poor men!
BF helps your uterus get back to normal quicker. I found if I could remember, it helped to put on a fresh pad before a feed. Gross, aye. This time, I have hardly had any bleeding at all. Apparently that is a second baby thing as well, so somethign to look forward to! lol!!

Purelan was great for me in the first 2 weeks of feeding. I got the small tube from the chemist for $13 but well worth the price. Also expressing a bit of milk after the feed over the nipple and letting that dry was good as well. I remember my MW pushing on my uterus and feeling the blood pouring out , but I have to say BF did help with the stopping of the bleeding quite fast . Only to have it come back last night . And sex he is still tough out of luck. I didn't have any stitches or anything like that I just don't want it, even thou I went and got the script yesterday for condoms.

Okay for those strugging and cant eat the oatmeal something else that did wonders and still does if my supply goes down a bit.
It was given to me by our midwive in SA and it really helped me a lot.
Then this is the recipy for Jungle Juice. It really gives you lots of energy and help with milk supply:
60mls Schlehen Elixer (2,029 fl ounce)
1 Litre Apple juice (33,8fl ounce)
2 Litres Water (67,6 fl ounce)
1 Sachet Rehydration powder.
Mix and refrigerate
Remake every other day
Try to drink 3 litres (101 fl ounce) on Day 1
Then 1,5 Litres ( 50,7 fl ounce) Daily
Now your milk already came in so drink of it as you are thirsty will work. No need to drink the whole amount if you cant.

I express a few drops and let it dry on my nipple after each feed. I don't think I have any cracks or blisters at all. I think I just had a latching problem and I hope i've managed to overcome that now. Hopefully.

Gosh Bombshell, when Gabriella sleeps she really sleeps doesn't she. How was the MW appointment today? Did she put on much weight? Hope that all was well.
Well, a very proud mummy moment here. I put Noah to bed asleep about half an hour ago and he woke up (surprise surprise) and was wide awake but his daddy turned the radio on instead of picking him up and he just went back to sleep. Hopefully he keeps that up for the night.
I have dark circles under my eyes for the first time that I can remember So I have had a couple of little naps during the day today.
We haven't had the best day today. I think Noah has trouble with wind. I wouldn't go as far as to say that he has reflux yet but he def has wind problems. Poor baby. He started doing this straining cry the other day and looks in a lot of pain and wants to feed when I know that he cannot be hungry. I did a search on here and have started burping him several times during his feed and he does these massive burps that appear to actually hurt him He has been a bit more settled since I started doing that. He gets a bit annoyed at having to let go of his booby though.

Well she gained a 100grams so we doing ok...altho from how much she feeds i expected more...but 100 grams over 2 days is ok i guess....altho she gained 120 grams overnight in hosp one night....go figure...i think some scales somewhere were wrong anyways...
well Gabriella shopped out botany today..along with every other stroller in auckland it seemed...and yet still no other holden strollers...hmmm.....
she then went to the PUB - yes she went to cock n bull where daddy and uncle steve took her up to the bar to order - get this -
DH - " can i have a bottle of beer?"
Bar man -"we dont do bottled beer"
DH "ooohhh but i wanted to put a teat on it for her first beer"
Barmaid - LOL!!!!
oh and they used my child to get compliments on bubs from all the chicks at the bar!! while us wives sat waiting for them...OMG!!! was kinda funny!!!
(and ok this is a bit long sorry!!!)
anyways - revenge was sweet - came home fed her and put her down. Mum and i went to do groceries...were gone just on an hour (we live less than 3 min drive from botany)- she sleeps longer than 2 hours (normally) and DH was like - go im fine...yadda yadda - bravado etc...then phone goes as we about to leave supermarket...but no ordinary call...it was a video call - of DH looking combo of upset and anxious...and my baby girl screaming her lungs out...and DH saying " COME HOME NOW!!!!"...I damn near leaked all over new world and was close to peeing myself from laughing....got one more call (yes another video) before we left and one in car from him just to reiterate that he was meaning business....
aaahhh the joys of Daddy parenting on his own for an hour (and in case he comes on here it was like an hour and 15 mins total door to door!!)....

Well, we are finally settling into home and getting used to each other, Elle is fantastic (so far - touch wood) in fact sometimes I am worried that she is getting too much sleep and not enough milk, am thinking I might have to start waking her a wee bit to feed, she can easily sleep for 5 hours at a time.
Starting to get the hang of B.F but I am also the same as you leish, I got really sore nipples, but am using nipple cream now and talked to the lactation consultant at the hospital, I agree with everyone Rugby Hold is the best.
Had a really sore tummy too Bombshell, talked to my M.W about it and she said it was uterus contracting down and maybe trying to pass some clots and (tmi) in the shower this morning a massive clot came out, feeling heaps better now but bleeding quite a bit. I am not supposed to be sitting up to much to take some pressure off my stitches but it is hard not to do that, Mum has been here though looking after us all, but I feel really useless.
lol about BSDH, Elle's Daddy does NOT like when she cries at all!!!! He would pick her up all the time if he was aloud to for any little noise that she makes.

Noah's daddy doesnt' like it when he cries either. He would be picking him up all the time too. Sometimes it's cos he misses him though. Cute

Leish I think you'll find the bf gets better when it doesn't feel like you're doing it *all* the time.
And LOL about grocery shopping. I did the same with Krystiana at about a week old, was so sure she'd be asleep for a good hour or so but no, was awake almost straight away! Distressed call like you BS although I guess my DH is a little more used to babies crying

Cutie pie!! Love the outfit too. Oh for pink things...
We had a great night last night. Well a great night for us anyway (not the 8 hours that you got BS). Noah went down for the night at 8pm and didn't wake till 11.30. I got him up, fed him one side, changed nappy and wrapped him and then fed him the other side and put him back to bed by 12.30 and he slept till 3.30. Did the same routine and he was back in bed by 4.30 and slept till 8.30. He usually doesn't sleep for longer than 4 hours and has been so unsettled at night for the last week or so but I think he must have been hungry when I was putting him back to bed. I was only feeding him one side and was having trouble keeping him awake and feeding for a decent length of time. The nappy change in the middle is great for waking him up again. He is still doing huge burps during a feed and farting LOTS but he seems much happier. Hope this lasts.

Bombshell she is so cute!!!!!!!
I am knackered tonight, Elle has been having huge sleeps but then wants to feed for AGES!!!!! like 1 - 11/2 hours which is just making her mum very tired. I think she is comfort feeding at times and tonight if she is the same I think I will try a dummy (don't really want to but it seems like she'll only fall asleep on the breast, so we'll see how it goes).
Am also going to try waking her every 3 hours as well, because not sure whether she is getting enough and that is why she is awake and feeding for so long.
Tummy is feeling alot better now and just finished the antibiotics, feeling like I am on the mend. Still a wee bit of pain with the stitches but only when I forget to take any painkillers.
Mum headed home today, there was a few tears from her, I think she would have liked to take elle home with her.

I am exhausted again...am out at puter so she will go off...and she is finally!!! she woke at 6 20am and has fed til now...no idea why she can go down off feeds easy now but at night she has to be awake for 4 hours plus to feed!!!!
