Grr why do people make such annoying comments? I was dropping of the boys at kindy this morning and one of the mothers and I startted chatting. She asked why I had a c/s.
me: "I got to 8.5cm, after nearly 8 hours of labour and both jorja and i we getting stressed and BP all over the place. It was just easier for us"
HER:" Why didn't you just wait it out i'm sure you would have gotten there. Are you to posh to push??"
I know she said it (are you to posh to push) as a joke, but i was like WTF? I nearly lost it at her.

Rudeness!!!! She shouldn't judge you. You made the right decision for you and bubs given your circumstances!!!
Arrgghh!!! Some people need to think before they open their mouths!!!

How rude!!! What a cow!!! Some people just do not think.
I haven't given birth ever yet (will in a couple of months - bit scary) and if I was in same scenario I would do what is best for baby & myself too

Yes well I still get that now - I had an Emergency CS with my first and now going to get an elective with this one - preg at 31 weeks but now she is an extended breech with a low lying placenta so I have no choice anyway but some woman just dont "GET IT"
Its got to the stage now and I just say it is due early July and that is the end of it

my gf was telling me that she was in a similar situation to you at some birthing place in Auckland. Both her and baby were getting dictressed and the midwife said she would call a doctor...but she didn't, in the belief that my gf could "wait it out"...well, they both nearly died and would have if my gf's mum hadn't turned up and driven them hgerself to the hosptial. the majority of the time a c-section isn't a "choice" it's the difference between having a healthy baby and not! sorry, feel strongly about this! incidentally, my gf's midwife has had FIVE incidents where the babies have died from her neglegiance - she was on the news but has name suprresion....AND CAN STILL PRACTICE!!!! apparently she's had "extra training" so it's okay. stupid people and stupid comments

As if the questions a mother asks herself are not bad enough.... it's none of their business anyway!

I would have said, "Not "Too posh to push" daaarrrhlink but alive baby and mummy" with a big on the end. People need to know they have over stepped the line and we can be gracious enough to let them know gently

So unfair I've been quite lucky and not had people comment on my c-section - I guess once I tell them that I'd been in labour for 38 hours they kinda figure he wasn't planning on coming out the usual way If there was another baby for me, then I'd definitely have an elective C-Section - my personal choice, and one I'd be happy with.

Even thou I haven't had a C section I think those comments are really rude. If it is best for the mum and baby then it needs to happen. Thats why it was invented not so that woman who's baby is in distress can be taken out safely.

Bombshell don't you love that! I had very similar comments with abby (breach) and was told quite often that I should of tried this and that to turn her. Cause yeah getting cut open while I'm awake is just something I have always wanted to put on my resume. Or "why didn't you just have her naturally anyway". Ummm maybe because the freakin specialist told me it wasn't going to happen!
I know there are women (mainly celebrities) that are to posh to push but people should not just assume that you have taken the so called easy option just because you had a C-section. For the record I have had two natural births and one ceaser and I'd pick the natural anyday!!! To me it was more horrible having that than pushing.

As my bubs is breech I have had endless conversations with my MIL that always go
"So, are they going to try to turn him?"
"No, it's really too late and he's not budging"
"Oh, so you can't have him naturally at all?"
"No, he wants to come out knees first.. babies can't come out knees first!"
"Oh, well we pray that something will happen and he can come out naturally"
*bangs head against wall*

They seem to forget that having a C/S is MAJOR abdominal surgery... maybe you don't get a sore bruised whatever, but you have stitches, and wounds all the way thru to your uterus!.. and you have to deal with 6 weeks of not being able (or not being supposed to..) do anything much at all.. with a baby in all that too.
Again another who has not had one but thinks people who make comments like that are incredibly rude and DHAC (don't have a clue)
