how is anybody coming from auckland getting down there... it is quite expensive to get me, hubby and both kids down...has anyone got a cheaper option?

emma, any chance of cheap flights down too????

gandt - keep an eye out on Airnewzealands website - and go to grabaseat, they often have supercheap flights on there, but you have to be quick, and you just have to be it at the right time etc to find the right flights.

I should see what my sister could wrangle... She's a domestic travel consultant (although I'm thinking she's probably going to say that it would be cheaper going straight through Air NZ website).

the train would be fun for your boys Deb...long trip but cool way to see the country - poss even just one way???

Also i suggest that you sign up to air nz site and they send you the daily offers when they come up - you are on daily so could jump on an offer if they come up...eg we were offered a trip to wellington for $69 return a few weeks back for flights over a 4 day period....unfortunately we were already booked for chch!!!

Oh, well my first thought was to go down just the girls and me but I need someone to hold one of the girls on the plane as they are so young and I don't want to miss out on the night caps so I'm trying to covince DH to come with me.

What flight are the admin team going on? Do you know if there are any seats left/ do ya mind me and the tribe coming ? LOL

We haven't booked flights yet, but I'm sure between us we can juggle your extra bub. Not that I'll have spare hands, but there'll be 6 of us and we'll only have 4 under 2's between us.

Quick question - is the only 'organised event' the lunch on Saturday? If so, are we arranging to do anything else as a group? Saturday night?

For those of you who haven't already booked your flights etc, another cheap option is to relocate a camper van. I have recently done this from Wellington to Auckland and back again. It costs only $5 per day then the cost of the diesel and any gas you use. They don't just do Auckland to Wellington, they do Christchurch, Queenstown etc. if you are coming on the ferry they pay for the vehicle. If anyone is interested the website is www.standbycars.com.au It is an Australian site but there is a section for NZ. Also if there isn't what you want email them as I had a one way going up to Auckland and asked if they had anything coming back and they did. This is my first time on this site even though I have been a Oh Baby member since it started. What sort of ages are your children?

My Mum just visited and was very unimpressed about my extravagance stating “she would never have been able to afford to swan off around the country and wouldn’t even consider it”.

But I'm still coming!

I still get it and she's in a different country .

I'm so looking forward to this weekend - and seeing those yummy gremlins again.

LOL Becks, the gremlins have been especially cute this past few days, they're so damn loveable! Maybe it's their cheeky grins!

And Fiona I'm lucky that my Mum isn't too bad, but my Dad is a shocker, he is SUCH a cheapskate, he is always saying "that was a waste of money" or "how could you buy that?" I've learnt to roll my eyes and tune him out
