Hey there,
This is the first time I've posted. I'd just logged on to see if there was any wellington mum groups and I found this post. Perfect timing.
I've just been looking at her ticker. Not long until Ashlee's first birthday. You must be getting quite exciting.

Hi Michelle yes, we're very excited about the first birthday!!!
Kels, OMG I was just about to type out 'are they seriously in Antarctica?!' when I remembered they were going down south' oops...
Yeah I really want to go to Shrek! But I just found out today that you can't take prams or push chairs into the cinema! Who else thinks that's really dumb?! Does that mean if Ashlee loses the plot and gets grumpy and tired, I have to leave and miss out on the movie!? There's no way she'd just sit down and behave for the length of the movie. Kind of annoyed about that.

Oh thats stink. Claire goes to the mum and bubs movies out in Welly, not sure where thou but maybe prams will be allowed there. That is soooo stink about no prams in a mum and bubs session. Arrgh. Im surprised they havent asked us to sedate them too before going

Hey there,
If its ok, I'd love to come out and meet you all. The hutt is fine for me. Although I do need to arrange a time around work. I look after a 10month old for a couple of days a week. Either a Wednesday afternoon (after 1.30) or any time on Friday are good for me. If you guys can't do those days/time, don't worry, we could meet up again at another time/date.
Take care,
Michelle

Hi
We survived the cold wastes of Invercargill, Lyla (Xanthesmum) assures me that it's not normally that cold, but it seems I have got soft in wellington, how did I cope with British winters for 34 years?
Can't make Friday but would be keen to catch up next week, so let me know time and place. I do movies on Tuesdays, playgroup on Weds am and maybe music on Friday but I can be flexible about things except the movies (They allow buggies into the empire at Island bay, well a limit of 4 but it is due to fire regs)
Hope to catch up soon, I seem to have been missing in action for a few weeks now

Claire Invercargill isnt that cold, but you were down there while they ahd their real cold snap
I always found Invercargill winter weather nice compared to Queenstowns whenever we went down there.
I actually would prefer southland weather to wellington weather any day.
Did you enjoy your time down there though?

Monique - I was in Dunedin for a week last winter and while it was cold, I preferred it to the cold that you get here in Wellington. I find that the cold here really gets in to your bones but in Dunedin it was more fresh I guess.

I'm thinking its about time we ventured out of the Hutt and tried somewhere different. Maybe Claire can suggest somewhere in her neck of the woods - Island Bay...

The Maranui Surf Club is really nice plus there is a beach for a walk afterward. But Maranui doesn't sell caramel slice. Although they do a really good vegan chocolate and blueberry cupcake and their quinoa salad is scrumptious.
I've also heard really good things about The Bach, but I haven't been myself.
I don't know of any in Island Bay except for the cafe in the movie which was pretty good. I'd be keen to go there.

Problem with Maranui is its upstairs so no pram access, makes it hard to drink coffee if you are trying to hold a 6 month old. I love the cafe at the empire too, I practically live there, might run into you some time Michelle. My other favoutie place is Eva Dixons at the zoo. It's fairly large and plenty of things for the kids, especially the meercats. BTW in august they have $2 wednesdays at the zoo so we could maybe do that for an outing.
Neil is currently taking the p### out of me as I am arranging to meet the nutters off the internet again
I can make Thursday next week but not Friday. I don't mind travelling though as I think I am the only city chick, so travelling to Pcity or Hutt isn;t a problem. Seems fair

I carry Zoe in the sling when I head out, so I always forget how difficult it can be with a pram.
Yeah Eva Dixons at the Zoo is great. I love the Meercats. We should definitly do something in August when its $2.
haha, Remus takes the piss out of me for meeting up with the nutters as well
If no one else can do Thursday, then I could skip the meet this week.

Yeah I hadn't noticed that, they should get on great if Alize stops eating Fay for long enough.
shall we make it the empire then? there is loads of free parking and a pretty cool baby shop just over the road thats quite handy (that's not what Neil says But...)
I can make Monday or Thursday this weekIt's easy to find as its just out of the Island bay shops area so you just keep going, if you get to the coast you've gone too far

The Zoo could be earlier than August if you want... I can get free passes let me try and get a handful this week and then we can make a firm date on when we want to do a zoo trip. Obviously, on a nice (dare I say it, sunny!) day.

As Michelle says it is really easy. the empire is on tthe Parade in island bay. As you get off the motorway at the end of the terrace tunnel, you follow street signs to the hospital or Newtown, you will come to Adelaide Junction, ie head off the basin Reserve towards the hospital. At the major junction, where you need to be in the right hand lane and go straight on through the lights. If you go left you will come to the hospital and if you go right you might end up at my house You will be on Adelaide Rd, just go straight on, you will pass the football pitches and the Berhampore gold course beofre going through the shops of Island bay. The Empire is the next junction after you go through the main shops, usually heaps of parking on the side street. Opposite the cinema is a really cool baby shop called Infantisimal. If you go past the baptist church you need to turn round!!!!

For you other ladies that might need a bit of a laugh tonight, my car wouldn't start after we left the cafe today I sat there for a good ten minutes trying to start it and then rang the hubby at work to come and rescue me. The thing is that while I was driving on my way to Island Bay (in my dad's big v6 car)the petrol light went on but I thought that it would be ok to fill up on the way home cos that is what I would normally do in our car. BIG MISTAKE!!!!!!!!!!!! Noah and I had to go back to the Empire and sit there till almost 6 pm waiting for the hubby to get there. He had to leave work and catch the train back to Porirua, pick up our car from the station and then went home to get our petrol container and to the petrol station to get that filled up and then while he was on his way to Island Bay - the rain started and there was little to no visibility on the motorway so he was only driving at like 60km on the motorway. Meanwhile, there was poor me feeling sorry for myself sitting in that cafe with the rain pouring outside feeling like a right dork cos I should have put more petrol in the car on the way in to Island Bay. Home now - nice and warm with a fat bubba fast asleep for the night. Hope that gave you ladies a good laugh. I don't know if I can go back to the Empire now - i'm too embarrassed

Yes he was sharing the love, and luckily for Zoe, the rusk too.
Leish, I wish I knew you were still stuck in town. I was in Lyall Bay until after 5pm. I could have picked you up. Bugger.
Talk to you all soon.

Ladies I might go and check out the lighthouse cinema in Petone. They have a nice cafe there so I will go and see if its baby friendly. Oh and I think Lollipops is good too as we can put the kids down to play on the floor.

Def not the Empire!! I will have to be disguised before I go back there again. The Lighthouse sounds good Kels. I've been there before but not with a baby in mind.

The Lighthouse in Petone is a great location - have been there a few times. You could also maybe look at doing a mums and bubs session if you are keen? Movies cost $10.00.

Definitely an area where we can put the kiddies down for a play around. Ashlee has finally started crawling so my bets are on that she's going to be pretty fast by the next meetup!
Do we have to pay for the kids at Lollipops if they don't even go into the play area part?

Awww GO ASHLEE!!!!!!! I bet she is soooo cute crawling around the place. Yeah I think we pay to get in bt we get a free coffee with that so I guess it works out as we usually buy a cuppa too.
Millie, Im going to see Shrek 3 tomorrow (if the budget will allow) at a mums and bubs session. Def will look at going to the lighthouse for the next movie. I forgot they did mums and bubs movies.
Leish, Are you sure you dont want to come to SHrek 3 tomorrow at THE EMPIRE !!!! Im sure they would LOVE to see you again hahaha (gosh im so evil)

Way to go Ashlee. Gabi started crawling this week. It made me so proud to see her crawl around the living room. I can't wait for Zoe to start. Actually, yes I can, then its too babies I've got to run after.
I'm going to be working in the Hutt on Thursday. I could meet up with you all if that is your meet up day.
