I know it's been done, but I'm too lazy to look

You know you're a parent when...

You have friken wiggles songs going round in your head all day instead of normal songs (toot toot chuga luga big red car..) or songs from mainly music (got one going round now.. Jack inthe box, jack in the box nice and still, will you come out, will you come out, YES I WILL.. my hands are shaking, shaking, shaking, my hands are shaking JUST LIKE THIS..)

And, you find yourself going "Look!! big truck/car/train/bus/ass/hair/zit" when you are in the car ALONE...

I yelled to lewis yesterday in the car."look at the lambies" and he told me it wasn't that interesting...no, no kids in the car.

the worst thing is when you have a kids cd in the car going, you sing along (as you do) and about 2 minutes before you get to your destination, realise there are no kids in the car and YOU COULD'VE HAD ANY BLOODY MUSIC YOU WANT!!!

Oh I did a post on my blog about this last year! It's sooo similar to what you guys where saying. Except written when I was a nanny... it's pretty long but I've copied and pasted it anyway...

The Realisation

On the way home from work tonight, I caught myself doing something I was embarrassed about. No, not speeding, and no I didn't give the finger to the guy who pulled out in front of me. I was singing. Now this is nothing unusual for me, as I don't have a radio in my old lil car, so I often sing. And when it's raining, I sing in time to the windscreen wipers - as I was tonight. It's not the singing I was embarrassed about, it's what I was singing.

It was a very upbeat version of Baa Baa Black Sheep. In time with the windscreen wipers. And I didn't realise it until I'd been driving for at least 5 minutes.

So I had a little laugh at myself. Then a few minutes later, I realised I'd started singing again - this time it was There Was a Great Big Moose. So I stopped myself. And a few more minutes down the road, it was Baa Baa Black Sheep again. I swear, it was like a never-ending circle that I just couldn't stop!

See, the 2 1/2 year olds favourite song at the moment is Baa Baa Black Sheep - it has been for a while, and when I want him to sit still for teeth brushing or hair washing, I just sing that song. And the older kids like the Moose song. I sing them both many many times each time I'm there, so of course it's natural I just keep going when I leave...

So on the way home, I started composing a list in my head.

You know you've been doing childcare long enough when:

8. You can recognise the "I need to pee" dance a mile off.

7. You somehow seem to find room on your lap for 3 children.

6. Poo? Nothing.

5. You can simultaniously feed one child, wipe another's nose and watch another do a handstand, all while singing "there was a great big moose".

4. When your husband doesn't want his vegetables, you offer him one chocolate raisin after dinner if he eats them.

3. You can easily read "Where's Spot?" seven times in a row.

2. The baby covers you with a combination of snot, spit and baby food, and you're not phased at all.

1. You sing "baa baa black sheep" when you're driving by yourself, and only realise you're doing so after the seventh run through.

When you're pretty sure you could stand in for one of the Hi 5 members if called too!

Not wiggles in our house...Hi 5...I won't admit to how many songs I know or how often I find myself humming them or what actions I know to go with the songs.

I have a rule that I am planning on never breaking. No kids music in the car cd player. My car, my music! Jake likes my music anyway, he boogies and hand claps away at it all (and goes to sleep nicely if its Salmonella Dub, thats our sleepy time music!)

You know you're a parent when...

you laugh through a thread like this one, go to read something else and then think "Hang on a minute, I've done at least one of those things!"

Or in my case, most of those things!

oooh i love going to hi-5 the girls always have fun.... and we know all the songs.

although the girls absolute favourite is action heroes.. as soon as it comes on ayja rushes to the dress up box and grabs out her super cape i made her for going to hi-5 and makes me put it on her. she's so funny she then runs round in circles in the lounge with one arm up pretending to be an action hero until the end of the song.

I knew I'd been watching too much Hi 5 when I realised I thought Nathan was kinda cute.

It's Tim I don't like so much becuase he doesn't seem as perky as the others.

Yeah I knew Kathleen had a baby though she might still be comeing back. And she's married to the straight guy from Savage Garden.

Nathan and Kellie thing rings bells too....didn't know they had broken up. That must suck having to still work together!!!

How the heck do we know all this gossip about them???? Mind you Kathleen was in one of the parenting mags not so long ago.
