Good morning girls!

Hope you're all well Was just wondering what sort of names you're all thinking of for your lil bubs?

I like Max Ari for a boy. And Ruby for a girl {my nana's name}, but am having trouble with a girl middle name! Have thought maybe Eve, Abigail, Elle, Madeline. But I really don't know!

What do you guys think?

{Oh & his/her last name will be Johnson :)}

How funny! Ruby is my nana's name too, and we're thinking of that for a possible middle name. At the moment we're just throwing names round to get the sound of them, but for a boy we like Elijah or Joshua, and for a girl we like Xanthe, Lily and Jessica.

I love the name Max! And all of your girl names are gorgeous too :-) Ruby Madeline is especially lovely :-)

at the moment we ar thinking Taine Lucas for a boy, and Lily Sakura for a girl, but we also have a tendency to agree on names only to reject them weeks later. I haven't talked about names for a while in fear of this!

I like Lily for a girl, but if I ever have a boy am not allowed to use Max - my sister has a Roswell obsession and has already pre-named her not even conceived yet babies Max and Isabelle.

Milly I loooove your names!

Madeline is especially cool, but that's because I have an obsession with France.

I always regret not naming Hannah something french, but then she suits Hannah anyway. Oh well... next time!

I think after my baby shower I will be even more excited!!!!

I am getting bigger by the min and very uncomfortable...(I regret complaining about not being big)

I like your ticker.... ...is Josef wearing pink?

We have chosen Piper Alexandra for a girl & Steven Blake for a boy, my husband has always wanted to name his first son if he has one after his brother (steven).

lol Roksana i was just about to ask the same thing!

we had so many i can't remember them all, but Leo Michael was our boys name we had picked this time.

girls names were Ayja, Coral, Opal, Eden, and tamsyn... also liked Jasmine.

it's so hard to choose.

Ha ha, lizzle, i know where you are coming from with the agreeing thing. I was often afraid to suggest things cos me and mike wouldn't agree, or we would then he'd tell his mum and she wouldn't like it, which made him wonder, and then he'd tell me what she said and i'd feel like she had ruined that name. the one day i just said to him maybe we should just use Ayja (which was a possible middle name) and he said yep, and mum in law liked it too, so that was that.

My MIL (and we all know what she can be like), has asked me if I have thought of names...I said yap but we might change our mind later....and that was that. I am not seeking her permission to name my child. I asked Atish if he likes Zaara and he said yes...so that solves it! My Mum likes Zaara too!

Wow, theres some really interesting names on here, such pretty ones too!
I had picked out Summer really early on for a girl and it just kind of stuck (really liked a few other names like Taylor, Hannah, Anastacia, but knew other kids already called that or didnt go with the last name) but had a really hard time with boys names, so much so I joked it just better be a girl and luckily she was! :-)

We knew Maya was a girl, and I named her after my fave poet (I'm a writer for anyone who doesn't already know lol). I never really had any boys names picked out because we knew so early on that she was a girl. Her middle name Grace was just a name I liked that went well with Maya, and then Te Irirangi Marama which is a family name from her Dad's side (and a Ratana church name).
PS no arguments for us about what baby's name would be - I picked it, then waited till Willie wasd feeling guilty about misbehaving and then said "well baby, I've got a name for our baby..." He would have let me have anything at that stage...

You all have lovely choices for names!

It's pretty hard deciding! And I think Madeline for a middle name may be a keeper! hehe

I haven't had any issues on my choices, my MIL is slightly overbearing but she can just deal with the fact that my partner and I decide on the babies name - not her!

I have done all the research on names and meanings though! My partner is very relaxed and just either said yes or no to my suggestions. Eventually we got to Max or Ruby!

I was also made aware by my younger sister a few days ago that there is a TV programme called 'Max and Ruby'! A kids cartoon about bunnies or something. I honestly didn't even know! haha

We named our son 'Jack Elijah' as it was the only boys name we really liked. I love Elijah Wood from the Lord of the Rings, his eyes just hypnotise me!
Funnily enough, Jack has the biggest, brightest blue eyes I've ever seen on a baby

Next time, our wee girl (better be!!!) will be Maia Zoey. My grandma's name is Zoe and I'd promised my Sis to never use it as she was closer to her than I was, but she's decided (at 31) she's now too old to ever have kids!!!!!

My brother's girlfriend is due in 6 days and if they have a boy, he's going to be 'Damien Lucifer'!!!!!!!!!
I have a feeling it's a girl and by god I hope I'm right!!!!!!!!

he he, roksana, I didn't ask permission from mum in law, she just ruined all the names i liked... said that coral was an old ladies name.. then i remembered that little girl that went missing and that just ruined it for me.

wo, lucifer!? do they want their child to be a terror? i strongly believe names have a huge impact on what the child is like... Paris is a little bossy snobby wee thing and so far, Ayja is just a little content happy girl... just seems like their names fit them. My nephew's initals are JDW... (Jack daniels whiskey).... Jack donald whittaker... his parents like whiskey, lol

When I was preg with Xander,Nath suggested his name as he had always loved the name, lucky for him I wanted an uncommon but not an out there name.\xanders middle name is Nathan as we didnt waan a upset either family .the girls name i thought i was clever and made it up but nup.the name was Shaylen(or could be spelt shaelynn),part of the name (Shalen,a as in apple) was a contestant on the first Joe Millionaire lmao,so i changed it slightly to get the name.

With Harmony we didnt have a boys name cos we found out she was a girl and only liked Harmony.I had gone off Shaylen by this stage lol.Her middle name Rose went relly nicely with it(plus my old mobile faceplate had roses so i said to nath "how bout Harmony Rose?" and he loved it.

my eldest sister is named Shellwyn cos ma went to skool with a shellwyn and ma loved the name.

other girls names i liked were Sapphire and Indy-Rose.Boys names Dakota,Preston,Maddison(unisex).

My girlfriend's name is sapphira which I love, but there acn be only one sapphy. We were considering it as a second name, but really wanted to give her (if its a her) a japanese name. Don't like japanese boys names so much. I like kai - which means ocean, but as it also means food in maori - it's out.

Boys names - we only JUSt agreed on Taine. Lewis is a big rugby fan and has JUST about forgiven tane randell for the rugby world cup of 200? whatever.

If "we" (and by "we" I mean Lewis) decide "we" don;t like the names anymore...I will NOT be amused.

one good thing about not knowing the sex is we can pretend to be thinking over names for ages so we don't get any helpful suggestions. Whatever name you suggest, someone will always say "that name? really? you don't think of.....insert random 80s porn star/murderer/infamous celebrity here". So i give up.

Well Janine I have a feeling that my daughter might just live up to her name (Zaara)...which means Princess!!

I did not tell my MIL what name I chose as I have a feeling she is going to ruin it for me!!!

I wanted a name that was Indian(ish) and yet not some thing that was old fashioned and hard to pronounce! Zaara is a Indian name and an english name so that worked out well. However I dont like Zara....so one more "a" did the trick for us.

I sure hope she does not come out and say surprise....I am a boy!!! I havent picked a boy name!!!! Ohhhhh I will be in trouble then. LOL!

We have pretty much decided on Joshua Gilbert (Gilbert is a family name!) and Hannah (not sure of middle name). But there have been heaps of Joshuas and Hannahs born lately. In the paper the other night out of the three baby girls born they were all called hannah!! I really like the name Clodagh (its Irish) but everyone else hates it!! We havent told anyone about the names cos I dont really want to know what they think, and someone will be bound to put me off them.

I had a girl anyway, but oh well... otherwise we may have had kiddies named the same lolol

Names me and my man can sit for hours discussing them... and not knowing the sex isn't helping at all, But i think weve come up with a couple now, if its a girl we are thinking Briannah Jayde or Jayda yes Jayda Grace and Jaikob Samuel or Blake Jaikob for a boy, my sis keeps pointing out that BJ will be my daughters initials, will she be teased at school, im sure other people have made it through life with the initials BJ, my friends initials are BJ Headly....he lived... and we havny decided on the last name??? mine his or both, my son just has mine not his dads, im thinking bubs will just have dads last name as when we decided to get married i will have his name and he will legally adopt Caleb, so we will all be Towers,, mmmm Just gotta love it, its quite weird thinking youl have a different last name actually..

Willie has only her Dad's last name. Was a huge decision for me, and for a long time afterwards I regretted it and even considered changing it to hyphen both of our last names because I felt really bad about having a different last name to her. But my reasons for giving her his last name was that all of his other kids have his surname, so she is the same as her brothers and sister, and also it was important to my Dad that she have her dad's name as that is tradition.

We're getting married next year, but I won't change my name, mostly because I don't want to give up my identity if that makes sense. Also, i have established a career with my own last name, so don't want to change it. And Willie is ok with that.

Maya's Maori middle names are Te Irirangi Marama which mean the place where heaven and earth meet/ the horizon. they're Ratana church names and her Dad picked them, but I ran them by one of his uncles who is a Ratana minister just to be sure.

We also thought about Rangimarie (peaceful) and Waimarie (peaceful waters) and Te Anahere Pono (another Ratana name, literally translates to True Angel).

If she had been a boy (and if our next child is a boy) he would have Shakur Wiremu John as middle names (after Tupac Shakur my writing inspiration, Wiremu is the Maori form of Willie's name, and John which is a family name on both my Mum and Dad's sides).

Thanks girls :-) They are gorgeous names. My partner was saying this morning that he'd be keen to think of a Maori first name for our baby - I wonder if he/she would get teased being a whitey with a maori name? We both have maori grandparents (my family Te Atiawa, J's family Ngai Tahu) but we are both lilies!!

My friend's name is Ngaio and I don't think her family has any maori in her at all!!!
She never got teased about it, in fact I can't think of a name that would suit her more.
Her family was quite into maori culture tho and she was in the bilingual unit in primary school and intermediate.

I like her name.

Maya is a half and half - her Dad is Nga Puhi/Ngati Whatua and I am good old fighting Irish, but she is quite olive skinned so you can definitely see the Maori in her.

We decided not to have a Maori first name because too many people don't pronounce them properly and I am such a nutter about Maori pronunciation. I studied Te Reo at uni up to quite a high level and it really bugs me when some people don't even TRY to pronounce Maori words properly. Willie gets worked up on the RT at his job when some of the dispatchers refer to Tea Iri-ran-gi drive - he growls at them lol!

But I don't think a Maori name on a 'whitey' is such a big deal. There are plenty of people with strong Maori heritage that don't look Maori as such. Culture is carried inside in the heart, not outside.

My partner is Maori (Te Rarawa, Ratana faith)and is extremely fair! His boys have such beautiful names Amohia and Takuira, they are family names of their mum. I hadnt thought of any boy names! Tim says that his family don't have girls :P so thats probably why Ive only thought of girl names! lol
For a girl I love Maia Bella Rose,Maia just cause I love it! Bella after Tims Ma and Rose after my ma, but my ma doesnt want the baby to be named "after" her... god knows why... Tim really wants a Maori name so if we have a boy its going to be Kahu after the native hawk, Its alwasy really special when we see them on our travels. There were a couple that hung out around the idol house when I was up there. I want/ed a Maori name that is just as beautiful as his boys names! I also want Colin in there somewhere as thats my daddys name and I think its so cute! hehe
