Had my last day at work today!! Am really glad that it is over with now but also means I dont have much longer to go and feel a bit nervous. Was quite sad too cos everyone says such lovely stuff about u when u leave - wish they said it when u were having a crappy day!!

Not really sure what I'm going to do now (have about 7 weeks before due date). Want to paint babys room and finish that off but also have big plans for reading books and having naps

Yay Aimee! I finished work at 30 weeks, and pretty much spent the last 10 weeks sleeping and watching kids TV shows. I wonder if that's why Maya loves Caillou so much?

it hasnt really sunk in yet that i dont have to go back! Am a little worried about the money situation but we've been poor students for so long we should be fine!

I am going to make a list of things I want to do over the next few weeks (Im a list person!) including books I want to read! I have a bit to do in the bubs room and I want to go swimming (to feel weightless!). definitely planning on naps!!

lol i did that and tried to do one each day so i didn't feel like i had completely wasted the day... of course, some days i would make alist of things to do, and include "have a nap" and "eat something yummy" on it, so i didn't feel like my whole list was boring stuff. i'm a bit weird. lol. it's like the list gives you permission to do it... it's like, well it's on the list, i HAVE to do it.

Yes, read. Read while you can.
I miss it soooo much!
Now any time that I have to pick up a book it has to be school work

oh Nikki I remember that! While I was at uni I dont think I read anything that wasnt school work related - or felt guilty if I did!

LOL, I keep telling myself that as a writer, reading is part of my job. But I am so shattered by the end of the day that I can't even think about picking up a book. It's enough of a mission just trying to read the daily newspaper hehe (I read it during the ad breaks on Dr Phil )

I have decided tho thatI will start going to the NZ Herald Literary lunches once a month, and buying and reading the book that is featured. I figure it's important 'career development' and good 'me time'

same with movies i think, someone that can be paused while I run to the toilet or run to see why Jake is quiet.

hahaha love that it's when kids are quiet that it's most disconcerting. noise is very reassuring!

hmmm reading while in the bath. that's a good idea. hannah plays in there for at least 1/2 an hour (or less if she finds the plug). it'd be good time to catch up on my school work!

I miss reading so much, i havnt been able to read a good book since my car accident, due to head injurys, if i read a few pages and then put the book down i forget what Ive just read.. its so frustrating when Im studying to remeber it i have to write down word for word what im reading to attach it to my brain.... im so over doing all the relaxing stuff, bed rest sucks so bad, i cant wait to drive my car again, go have coffe somewhere, just go and visit a friend.. I love it when my friends go and get some vids and something yummy for lunch and come hang out with me, most of my mates have had there bubs now so i enjoy lots of cuddle time on the couch with them.. I love it cant wait till i can see smell and touch my bubs...

I think that I am going to be so bored by the time bubs arrives! The last few days have been quite good tho. I have got a really long list of things I want to get done and try and do a couple a day. Am quite enjoying doing the domestic thing - I even did some baking today!!

We made Afghans and cupcakes, and the icing on the cupcakes is ... orange. Maya's fave color this week lol.

This arvo we're baking a choc cake for a church fair at my parents church here in Sydney. I'm normally not so community minded but being on holiday Maya and I have lots of spare time to do "Mama and Maya" things like baking, and there's no one in this house that NEEDS to eat cake so we might as well give them away!

I made choc fudge cake and strawberry choc muffins for the church fair. Sadly they both came from a box of premix, I ran out of time to bake from scratch, and was still baking at 10pm last night. But my grandad sampled a muffin and was most impressed...

I was all set to make a banana cake today but my giant pile of dirty washing took priority. Now I am regretting it. Who needs clean clothes when you have cake instead????

Am making a lemon slice for my friend's birthday next weekend. Mum sends me food mags quite often and I go a bit mad making gourmet meals! Costs me a fortune and Hannah just spits the food out but I like it!

Posted By: Maya
Date Posted: 09 September 2005 at 9:51pm
I made a lamb dish from a gourmet cook book once. The 'lamb fillet' cost me $20 for 500g and once it was made I realised I could have used $8 butterfly steaks. So gutted! But it tasted good.

LOL at Hannah spitting it out Nikki. I laugh at people who tell me their kids eat curry and pate and stuff. I'm lucky if Maya will eat plain old meat and veg. But she does like gherkins. And hummus.

Jake is 11kg?   paris is 11.4 kg, and she's two. mind you, Ayja is currently over half her weight, and she's only 4 months so i think she may end up being a little bigger then her older sis... catching up maybe.
